Yeah - the new price is $449.99 (down from $499.99 w/ 2yr) and then there's a $100 mail-in rebate that brings the final price down to $349.99.

Be aware, it'll be 4 months or more before you see a rebate check from Cingular.

I sent in for $50 rebate on my wife's V551 on 15-NOV-2004 and still haven't received a check, though they say it's in the system...

No crap.... This wouldn't be such a surprise to you if you'd read the fine print on the rebate form.

Anyway... what matters is that the phone does end up being $150 less now than it was 24 hrs ago.

I did read the form, but obviously you're just too stupid to do the math.😲 I'll spell it out for you, the form stated 12 weeks (approximately 3 months), I'm now at 14 weeks and counting (that's coming up on 4 months).

If you think that's reasonble, you probably think a 2 year contract is reasonable, and you probably think Cingular is company that puts customer satiafaction first.

I love people like this! They actually think: 1) That this is a Cingular Rebate!
2) That Cingular fulfills and ships the rebate check.

Did you also take into consideration the holiday season? All companies who do a tremendous amount of holiday business have a back up for rebates in the months after the holiday season. And once again it is NOT Cingular that handles the rebates it is a third party company called Young America. So don't blame a company that is not at fault.

Do you honestly believe what you wrote? A company is clearly responsible for the actions of the sub-contractors they choose.

I've done plenty of rebates and Cingular is by far the worst. Given their in-attention to customer service, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

The bottom line is that the rebate will take 4 months or more and will not be in...

In my opinion anything but an instant rebate is absurd. Just a gimmick to get you to pay up front so they can use your money for investments and make more money off of it , just like a bank does.
They get richer while you think your getting some kind of a great deal. and the longer they keep it the more money they make.
