Phone Insurance must read!

😎 FYI For the people who do not know. This phone is NOT insurable. Lock Line will not touch it. I'm a phone wh**e, anything new I have to have it. When I bought the phone on-line from Cingular and called to activate the SIM I then inquired about insurance and the nice young lady put insurance on my account and sent me an email showing the insurance coverage. Day after I am speaking with my Cingular "friend-nerd" and we got on the conversation about insurance. He informed me the phone was not insurable and ALOT of Cingular reps don't know this. After I told him I have a contract showing insurance he then laughed and said Cingular is liable in the eye of the courts should you file a claim. If you are like me you do not want to spend time in S...

Thanks for the info regarding Cingular's willingness to negotiate to get out from under even the POTENTIAL of a claim that they would have to self-insure. Candidly, I'm surprised, I would have thought they would just pony up with a refurbished phone in the event of a claim. I'd never expect I'd have to go to court - their sending a representative is more $$$ than a new phone.

The last best advice that we got was, don't ask, they will refund your money and then you'll have to go forward without coverage. I like your scenario better. 🙂

I think it's funny that people will knowingly request coverage for a phone that they know is non-insurable, then demand compensation after they are told down the road that it is non-insurable. I love when people threaten lawsuit, whats the world comming to?

I want to know this too... This is especially interesting considering that the price of the phone just dropped to $449.99 on a 2 yr contract. This price is EXACTLY the same as that of the Sony Ericsson S710a that just came out, which Cingular IS offering insurance on! WTF???

Why not just call lockline and ask them why they do not insure the razor?

It's probably not Lockline's decision. More likely is that their assessment was that the Razr represented a higher risk for them, and therefore they felt the need to charge more than Cingular was willing to pay.

Factoring in billing, collection, and administration cost, Cingular's breakeven is probably $3.00. Of course, they want to make a buck, too 😉 so now you're down to $2.00. If Lockline wanted to charge more than $2.00, Cingular would say "Thanks, but no thanks."

Coming, One "m"

WE, as consumers set the bar for customer service. How many times have you gone to a hotel to find a not-so-clean room, or gone out to eat to get a plate of warm food? Now, how many times have you lived with it? If you follow statistics more and more people are living with it. This in turn lets companies think they can do what they have to do just to get by. This all boils down to something as simple as phone insurance....
