I think my phone is locked...please help

Hello. My brand-new Motorola V3 just came in the mail today. Well, when I inserted my T-Mobile SIM card into the phone, it said to enter the subsidy code. So, does this mean that it's locked? Is there anything that I can do? Should I try returning the phone?

Thanks

Yes, your phone is locked. All world and tri-band phones made after November 15th (1st day of the merger) are now locked to Cingular. Check the internet, or maybe there is a mom and pop shop that can do it in your area. Worst case scenario, you may have to send it somewhere.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I just called Cingular and told them that I was going overseas & needed to unlock the phone. However, the guy told me that the only way that this phone can be unlocked is with a Cingular (not T-Mobile) SIM card & with prior activation. What do you guys think about this?

The internet and a few places I've called have informed me that they currently do not have the unlock code, but to check back in a week or two. Do you guys know of any legit places that would do this? I'd be willing to send my phone off.

Thanks so much
