Wallpaper Question

Hi I'm new here so maybe someone can help. I'm able to make my own wallpapers for my phone, but everytime i send a pic to my phone and view it as a wallpaper is comes out in low-quality from how I sent it.

The dimensions I use are 176(w) x 220(h)

So I have a couple of question:

-What is the BEST file type to save it in (jpg, gif, bmp, png, etc)??

-What are the BEST dimensions to save the pic in??

I would really like the wallpapers to look high quality. So if someone can help that would be awesome 🙂 🤭

unfortunately, with my experience and compared to phones ive had in the past that cost a lot less than the razr, unless the picture is close up, the picture doesnt come out very well. i thought w/the bigger screen, the images would come out clear. but not the case in my experience. very pixely. very disappointed. anybody else have this experience?

Surprisingly, no, I'm not. I didn't expect the camera to be worth much at all, but I've been very pleasantly surprised. I have consistently used pictures I've taken as wallpaper and have only had a few instances where it has been overly pixelated.

I have pictures I've taken at Disney World of my son with characters, so they're all from, what - 20 feet away? I think the difference isn't distance, but available light - without a flash, pictures in less than ideal light may look OK when taken, but when they're resized as wallpaper they just don't have the resolution.

HTH!

im not even talking about taking pictures, but transferring high quality pictures (taken for example, from a digital camera or just a high quality pic from online) from your computer to your phone. i mean, when comparing the pic on the computer to the one on the phone, there isnt even a comparison. say for example, theres a picture of a person standing framed from head to toe. on the computer, its fine. but when u transfer it to your phone, sometimes, the quality is pretty bad that u can tell by the face who it is. but if u zoom into the pic and crop just the face, the quality is a lot better, but considerably not as good as the original on the computer. u know what i mean?

I was just messing around with this today. If you are using mobile PhoneTools, the key is to use "mobile explorer" and NOT the image studio thing. The latter converts it on the fly to a terrible jpeg.

The best results I had were using a 176x220 GIF image and copying it directly to the phone using mobile explorer - it should look exactly like it does on the computer.

Mobile Explorer is a part of Mobile Phonetools - it is a utility that lets you access your phone from a computer. It basically opens up a view that lets you copy files to your phone directly.

If you don't have it then I assume you have some other way of getting files to your phone, so whatever method you are using may be fine. I think the key is to get a gif file over to the phone without it being reencoded/recompressed.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, I just got the phone so I don't know much about it. I'm sure there are a few ways to transfer files, but the only one I know of is using mobile phone tools (which costs $40). I bought it because I needed to sync my contacts with Outlook.

To have my pics look the best on the Razr, I would use PhotoShop or whatever editing tool and resize the pic down to about 100kb. I make the pic 9"x12' and reduce the quality till it comes in around 100kb.

My Razr wallpaper settings are set to "center", if you choose "fit to screen", it does distort most.

Hope this helps.
