Sony Ericsson S710a

All-
Just purchased the S710a; I am on the ATT GSM Side- I added the MMODE Unlimited Plan for 24.99/month. So far- I find it sucks: too slow and not sure if this is phone or gprs or both.

My question is this: can I use this phone and mmode plan as a modem? Or do I need to be on the Cingular side with an EDGE plan? The Cingular Rep told me I would have to switch to Cingular side with an EDGE plan.

What do you think? I am not so far impressed with GPRS/MMode.

I had a s710a and it didnt work out for me but I do miss the camera on that phone. Im looking for a phone with a camera thats comparable to the s710a can anyone help me? I dont like the 6682 so thats out.

I got my buddies SLVR L7 here and he can bluetooth me pictures and songs.... I can send him songs, but whenever I try to send him a PICTURE, it just freezes and wont even give him the "accept" option. THEN I tried sending pics to my Nokia 6682 from the S710a and THAT worked. THEN I sent the SAME PICTURE to the SLVR from the 6682 and THAT WORKED! Why does the 6682 work to and from both, both I cant SEND PICTURES from S710a to SLVR? I mean I could see if the bluetooth wasnt compatible at all, but the L7 sends TO mine, AND receives SONGS from mine....but not pics... 😕 Any help here would be seriously appreciated. Thanks!!!

Think something is haunting my S710a. I can put my memory stick into my PC and transfer music, pictures, etc. onto it and they are there whenever I put the card into my (or anyone elses) PC. BUT, when I put the card back into my phone the stuff doesnt show up anywhere. 😕 Can someone tell me if I'm missing something here? I took pictures with my phone and put the card into my PC, renamed it, and when I put it back in the phone...GONE. 😳 Any info would be a great help....Thanks!

i'm using bluetooth to transfer my photos, videos, and ringers. i have winamp, and a real on player. i know real one plays the videos from my phone because when i send them to my email thats what the videos play under. the file type is 3gpp, winamp doesnt support it ☹️ and for some strange reason i cant get my real one working at all even when i redownloaded it 😡 . now i know winamp plays mp4 because that stupid hog video plays on winamp. but what im asking does anyone know any good 3gpp video format players??

ok so i really love this phone and i dont want to have to give it up especially since the phone is discontinued and ill get the new version which isnt as good. but recently my screen with become really scrambled like a stolen cable tv channel. then when you click a menu or something the scrambledness splits into a vertical half of the screen and everything on the other half goes pink and hazy. it slants. really weird. and it eventually goes back to normal however for like 6 hours after the phone goes back to normal the clock sticks at 1200 and you cant change it. and when you call people it will show it in the last dialed at the time. then when the clock starts working again every thing you did when it wasnt working is gone. so if you...

Could someone tell me how I can go about upgrading the firmware on s710a? I would like to do it myself so,

- what cable I would need?
- what software I would need to perform the upgrade?
- where can I get a stable version that will work on cingular without making a zombie out of my phone?

I just read on the front page of Phone Scoop that Sony is expected to release a new memory stick called the "Memory Stick Micro".

After reading the article, it failed to mention that it would be compatible with the memory stick duo formats, which is currently topped off at 128MB's.

If this new memory stick is compatible with the "duo" formats then this would explain why Sony hasn't put any funding into developing a higher capacity memory stick duo card. This would be good news for us who want more than the 128MB's currently available for the S710a.

I really hope that Sony gets this right, Opinions anyone?

I just recently found a cingular branded ericsson s710a. I currently have cingular and thought that I would try to put in my sim card and use the phone. After inserting my sim card the phone asks for a phone lock code. Can anyone tell me if I can reset that or do I have to order a data cable and have that done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What type of files can the 710a play. I wanted to put more on my phone, and i think i can do that if i dont use .mp3. Is there a list of file type the phone can play?;

since this phone got discontinued, what is the replacement phone for exhanges?

im going to be in australia for 5 months and didnt know if i could use my s710a there with an australian sim card? or any recommendations?

I am not to friendly to data transfer to my 710 other than memory stick. I have a bluetooth connect on Mac OS 10.4.3, and my q is to how to transfer some games. Quick Question:

I know the s710a uses the Memory Stick Duo format. According to Sony, the biggest Duo card available is 128Mb. Can you use a Memory Stick PRO Duo with this phone? If so, you'd be able to upgrade to a 512Mb card. Any info. would be helpful and much appreciated.

I just got my phone today and want to change the text message sound. I put a bunch of mp3s on my phone, some of which are about 1 second long, intended for text message sounds. When i go to change the ringtone they are all there, but when i go to change the text message sound there are only about 7 default sounds and no options for finding more on the phone. When i browse the phone with bluetooth there is no option for ringtones, just a sounds folder. It is that folder that the ringtone chooser opens up. Any suggestions for putting on custom text message sounds?

HOW EASY IS IT TO READ THE DISPLAY, I AM LEGALY BLIND AND AM HAVING PROBLEMS FINDING A PHONE THAT I CAN SEE OK, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS AS TO ANY PHONES THAT I MIGHT COULD SEE OK.
