Are the pics stored on the additional memory card on the 8100 able to be directly downloaded on my computer (similary to the ease of a digital camera?)

Yes. Take the pics, choose options, then move, choose yes to move to card, take card out, put it into your reader, open up "my pics" and they should be there.

Thanks Mary .. have you or anyone else actually tried this yet? I've had conflicting answers from Verizon personnel ... the store says exactly what you said, and the over-the-phone techs said no ... they had to be e-mailed through the phone! The correct answer pends my decision on this phone ..

I have tried it and it works fine. You can set up your phone so that the pictures you take are saved directly onto the card. The default setting on the phone saves the pictures to the phone memory.

This process works, but is not supported by VZW. This means if you have a problem, you're on your own. Also, there is the possibilty this could void your warranty but I haven't looked into that at all. I just know it's possible since you're using a non-supported feature.

OK I am confused. If this is something not supported by VZW...why do we even have a memory card? And I have spoken to MANY tech reps at the stores that not only have asked me how mine works but have said they are going to go out and buy a card to do the exact same thing. Also...wwhizzard was having tons of problems with his phone and the techs finally figured that it was because of a bad memory card...and they kept giving him a new phone. The phone was made to be able to use the memory card in it.

The card is supported as a storage device, that's it. I've looked over the spreadsheet of supported uses for the memory card for the 8100 and the E815, they are the same, meant for extra storage.
