LG VX-8100

Has anyone found the Update in the Middle Tennessee area yet 🙄

Not the Interactive User Guide. I searched here and found the link for the IUG, but that's just a light overview.

I also Googled and couldn't find a download of the Owner's Manual.

dammitt they still don't have it in central ohio! 🙄 I get my sd card on thursday so hopefully they got running by then in my area.

MP3 player is sooo sweet , and the front buttons ,this fone kicks a$$ compared to the moto e815

A couple days ago I called *611 and asked the million dollar question "Is the update available in Columbus, OH yet?" The answer she gave me was a bit disturbing considering everything we know now (but when was the last time you got a correct answer from them?).

She read an email to me that said something to the effect of...The LG VX8100 does not have a MP3 player and not to even suggest to a customer that there was a MP3 player on it cause it will never have a MP3 player on it.

I really have no problems with Verizon service or even this phone (I actually like this phone...after the update it will be love) But I am seriously concerned with the things that come from customer service reps. I can completely understand them saying they ...

Hey all,

I am asking a question with possibly no answer believe it or no but I updated my software for my 8100 (actually had it early because I work at verizon) and I actually want to put my software back to the original software. There seems to be a glitch in the new software that doesn't allow you to use the original Media Player (By using menu, 0, 000000, Get It Now Settings, Get It Now, Mediaplayer) Once you have the new software and you try to access it as soon as you go to play a file the phone freezes up. Being since I'm not getting a SD card anytime soon and I've been able to put all my custom ringtones and all on the phone, I wanted to know if any one might have any Idea where I could possibly find the original 8100 software t...

My sister wants my 8000 and is willing to give me the 8100... dont ask me why. Was wondering if MP3's are transfered the same was using Bitpim and the 8000 USB Cable. Thanks for any input.

Just a couple of things:
First, I just got my update today. As a public service announcement to ppl living in NYC I called up 4 stores looking for the update and 3 had it. The 3 stores were The Queens Center store, the one on 86th Store on the Upper East Side and the one on 3rd Ave and 70th (or it might be on 69th, anyway it's on third ave)

Second, i'm happy to get the mp3 player but a part of me doesn't care since i listen to my ipod while walking these streets and while setting my own ringtones is nice i realize it wouldn't matter either since i have my phone on viberate since i can't hear the phone ring b/c i'm listening to my ipod...eh i'm sure it'll come in handy eventually

Waiting for the update from verizon will take a year and a day. There are other ways of getting them on your phone. I have all MP 3's on my phone and they are full length. They also arent the ones Verizon offers you that re 15 seconds and 2.99 a month. 😎

i have mp3s on my card when its in the computer,but when i take it out and put it back in the phone ,nothing shows. i have tried changing formats, shortning the title,calling verizon, calling lg and nobody can tell me anything that i havent tried already.what the *#@% is going on with this piece of %#$& phone.i have the update to version 4 and nothing works. can somebody please give me a step by step on putting mp3s on this phone. sorry for the road rage, but any help would be greatly appriciated.

Yup! the price went down on the 8100 and the price went up on the moto e815. Check the Verizon website.

IS THE VX 8000 DATA CABLE THE SAME AS THE 8100 DATA CABLE, I KNOW THEY SHARE THE SAME CHARGER, IF THAT HELPS. thanks in advance

Can anyone please help me find software for my new LG VX8100? I just got it last night and cannot get my bitpim software to work with it. I also noticed that bitpim does not support it yet according to their webpage.

I want to transfer some wallpaper and phone book entries that I have saved from my old LG VX8000 phone.

Plus, does anyone know how to get the phone to work as a modem?

More than likely, most of my miniSD memory will be used for MP3s. Which memory size card is best (well, I know which will hold more, but I'm talking about reasonable as far as to approx. how many MP3s each size will hold)?

I'm sure everyone here knows about the "hidden" (or maybe not so hidden) menu on the phone... *Menu/OK key... then 0000000*

Anyway, with all this talk of the update (which I have yet to get cause it's not here yet) I wanted to know if there are anymore 'Service Codes' to put there in the phone to activate/retrieve/see or fool around with other hidden features?

Also... Anyone know of a way to make the "ringing" time longer for my phone before it goes to VM? I had a Samsung e316 before this and it had a 'code' to enter on that do it which was really helpful for me, but does anyone know if this phone can do the same?

Another thought...I just saw a VCAST commercial w/ the 8100 w/ a black face plate??? Will this be available???

They are several makers of cards and card readers. I believe that some of these problems maybe attributed to that. If you have a SanDisk card your best bet is to get a SanDisk card reader same if you have a PNY, Lexar or what have you.

I know there has been many postings about getting Bitpim to work, but none of the suggestions have helped me get Bitpim to recognize my 8100. I have a USB cable for the 7000 (from eforcity on ebay) and I have tried the drivers from LG. The phone is recognized using QSPT, but when I try Bitpim, the phone isn't recognized. I've tried setting the COM port to the suggested port (and all the other ones) - currently COM8. Also tried the unofficial Bitpim for the vx8100.

Nothing has worked - the phone is still not recognized. 😡

What setting should be used in the phone under settings&tools-PC Connection- USB or RS-232C(COM Port)? If the RS-232C is used, what speed? 19200 or 115200 - and should the com port in the computer (under device ...
