hey guys. i got the 8100 back in august and just got a software update yesterday. the phone is awesome but i'm still pretty clueless about a few things. i have been looking at the forums all day and have been able to find out a lot but i was wondering if someone could help me out.
1. what is bluetooth?
2. my antenna is chipping really bad, do you think verizon will be able to change it for me without getting a new phone? and if i get a different antenna, like one that lights up, do you think it would mess up the reception?
3. what is DUN?
4. does anyone know if they have any new faceplates for the 8100?
5. what is bitpim?

thanks again! i hope someone could help me out!

OK, here we go......
1.
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/bluetooth.htm »

2. No, thats physical damage.(ur fault).IF ur phne is acting up(software issue-bad speaker or phone turnin on and off by itself or VOLUME FLUCUATIONS) then Verizon Store will give u a refurb replacment 4 free. Thats called a FRU.

3. I Dunnooo?

4.Ya, but they are garbage. Keep original OEM caasing. The aftermarket ones cost 12 cents to produce n they sell them for $24.99 🤣 wat a joke.

5.Bitpim is a program that adds on ringers, wallpapers, videos etc... to ur phone. Alot of ppl here like it n use it w no probs. Ull need a Data Cable, Mini SD card, Card Reader n Bitpim software(its free).

GOOD LUCK...P.S. 3:43am??jk

thanks so much for your help tom! and yes it was 3:34 in the morning lol. i was up all night wrapping presents and needed a little break. if u dont mind..i have a couple more questions. these 2 are about music and such. i just got a mini sd card and all. i started putting music on the card and some of the songs dont transfer. do you know if there is someway i can change the file so that it reads on my phone? also i read somewhere in the forums that someone knew how to put tv shows and video clips on the phone, i'm assuming through my flixs, i was wondering if you knew anything about that or anyone for that matter, and if they could help me!! thanks! 🙂

Videos go in MY_FLIX and need to be converted to .3gp format.

Make sure your songs are less than 47 characters including the .mp3 or they won't show up.

as far as question #3 DUN stands for dial-up-networking. WIth bluetooth devices there are different "profiles" I.E. OBEX-(object exchange) for swapping data between two devices.
DUN would be used for something like using your cell phone as a modem for your computer, pretty helpful if u travel alot. Check out bluetooth.com and there might be more info there or the other link posted in an earlier response. GLTY all.
