Love the 8100. It is on Verizon network. Seem to notice a little fluctuation on the volume. Seems to be loud...then soft.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Almost everybody has had the volume problem since launch. Hopefully corrected in v06 next week, but don't count on it. Keep swapping phones. Maybe you'll luck out. I'm on my 6th phone and still have it.

Read the forums. Most people here have swapped numerous times.

Yeah no problems with mine so far. Although the earpiece is not quite as loud as my old VX7000, but it also didnt have a speakerphone.

Don't worry about MORTFE. He seems to think that everyone except about 5 or 6 8100 owners have the volume bug. He's just mad because he has just about the worst luck possible.

went to verizon today to get my phone switched (again) for the volume problem. They said since they couldn't replicate it, they couldnt switch it. All of tech support there swore it was not a known issue.

I was laughing. They were dead serious.

Calling C/S again tomorrow...
