Samsung SCH-i730
24 Hrs later....Raves (and a few rants)
First the good...
*I love the size/form factor. I was expecting a much, much bigger device...but in reality it's only a tiny bit longer than my Kyo 7135 closed up. Very nice!
*The slider mechanism is VERY smooth. Can slide it open and shut with one hand very easily.
*As a PDA (as other have said)...it's excellent.
*Basic phone functions are good. sound quality (in and out) is very good.
*I still need to play with more of the advanced phone functions...and I've yet to start adding contacts, etc yet.

The Bad...
*As someone else said....the placement of the Voice memo button is STUPID STUPID ...

Yeah! I'm in! Now need BT Headset recommendation...
I'm a noob when it comes to Bluetooth...so could anyone give me a good recommendation on a decent BT headset? I see some on ebay in the $60 range. Is there any compatibility issues I should be aware of?
Online order status? I called...
I got transferred to the internet sales group after holding a few minutes. Now I don't know if this was BS or not...but the lady told me my order I placed online was on hold, because "With the I730 you have to select a data plan...pay as you go or unlimited. Which would you like" So since I was going to add the unlimited for $44.95 anyway...I told her to give me the unlimited. She then knocked another $100 off for selecting the data plan, and promised me overnight shipping for $399.
Yeah! Hopefully this bad boy will be in my hands tomorrow!
Anyway...thought I'd s...

Perfect phone...almost
It is definitely a PDA-first devise, meaning only that the PDA functions are nearly flawless, while the phone functions take some getting use to.
True there are a few phone features that aren't perfect, like not being able to assign a specific ring to a specific number, but this is a phone for on the go execs, not high schoolers who want Usher's "Yeah" to play when their buddies call. You can download virtually any MP3 file (from your PC to your phone, or directly to your phone), so your ringtone possibilities are endless.
Not having an easy vibrate on/off button is also not a huge deal, just select the "vibrate, then ring" option on the phone. Th...

had phone for over a week now
I had my i730 unit for over a week now. I have to say I am very disappointed with the Phone portion of the unit. It is difficult to make 3 way calls the actually speaker phone portion is way to low and this at its highest setting. Ringtones are not available on a per number basis, meaning you can only set one tone for the phone. actually putting a call on hold in not easy it can be done but its a handful, The voice dialing is pitiful, I tried to compete the dialing either automatically or by teaching it and both times I had problems.
dialing from the keypad is great but if you plan on using this without a headset you will continuously push buttons with the side of your face.
The actually PDA portion is great and I had no problems ...

EVDO icon
The bluetooth functionality is great, it paired right up with my Range Rover and works well.
I'm located towards the middle of the North shore of Long Island and from what Verizon shows there isn't any EVDO coverage however my data icon keeps cycling through 1x, 1x/EV & EV is this normal or is it picking up a hopefully soon to be live network?
Thanks and everyone enjoy their phones!
Will the Samsung i730 be able to stream online radio / mp3?
Pocket PC Program Install
I have never owned a PPC/phone unit and am wondering if anyone knows about installing programs for the PPC on a device like this. I use a lot of programs from Handango and other software stores on my PPC--games, databases, and other programs made for Pocket PCs. Do most of these programs work with a PPC/phone unit? Are their lists of programs that I can't use with this unit anywhere?
I just assumed that if it was running Mobile 2003, it would support all programs, but some have posted about problems. I'm coming from an iPAQ 5500 where all programs worked practically flawlessly.
Any good suggestions would be appreciated.
