Q vs. SDA

As previously stated, the Q is my 2nd Smartphone. The SDA was my first. This is how i see the Comparison

Similarities:

Both decent sizes
1.3 megapixel camera of great qualities
both with windows
full of features
crappy battery lives on both phones.
great video time (provided you have a memory card)

What set them apart from each other?

T-mobile's internet plan is 29.99 compared to verizon, 44.99; yet Verizon's works hella better!

I like the Q overall and the extra programs I can purchase with it. I couldn't do that with the SDA, but with the Q, the fun is endless. Whether you agree or disagree, holla back.

Attaching Files (Map) to Appointments

Is there anyway to attach a JPEG map to an appointment and to be able to read it in the Q? I do this in Outlook, but can't get it to work in the Q.

I'm interested in workaround solutions if anyone has any.

Best,
Max

Is CoPilot the ONLY GPS solution?

We know that the supposed GPS chip in the phone will not interact directly with the mapping software. Another device needs to be attached. Is CoPilot the only GPS softwar that will work on the Q?

Sounds don't change w/ profiles...???

Hey all, I'm new to this forum and just looking for some help. Am I missing something? I first change my profile to say... "Outdoor" and then change my sounds. When I go back to "Normal" my sound settings are still what I changed it to while in the "Outdoor" profile. No profile seems to have effect on the sounds. Aren't the Profiles and Sounds supposed to be linked somehow? Thanks for any insight...

No Software for the Q?

I have been debating between switching to vz and getting a Q or staying with Cingular and getting an 8125 (I am current on old ATT with a SMT600 and it doesnโ€™t work well). I was about to jump on the Q band-wagon until checked handandgo for available software โ€“ almost nothing! Much less than was even available for the SMT5600 โ€“ 2 years ago! Initially I wanted something for tracking time and expenses โ€“ nothing!

So the question is โ€“ is it really than bad and if so, why? Why isnโ€™t the WM smartphone software available for the Q? Perhaps smartphone is dead?

I was considering the Q for the library of software and exchange integration, it now looks like that is not the case, or am I missing something?

Negative reviews that I read...

I went to the store today to see the new KRZR. It is a nice looking phone, but to me the screen is SOOOO small as I have the e815. Anyone have any comparisons between the two? OWNERS of the Q --all that I really want this for is to put in my appointments for reminders and also have a slim phone. HELP! I have to go pick out a phone tomorrow and am torn between the pink razr , the krazr and the Q.

Update Problems Anyone? (thru Motorola)

Is it worth it to do the Motorola Q current update download? (the update that is supposed to allow you to use your phone as a modem for a laptop connection to the internet and brings the phone up to code for hearing aid compliancy)
If I still have to pay to gain access to the internet anyway, why would I want to do the update for the modem? I thought when you did the update that you would be able to connect any laptop to your phone thru a usb line and get on the internet on your laptop. (t-mobil does that free) I was told by verizon's customer service I would still have to pay more money anyway to get a password to access the internet I ALREADY pay for.....

So, that's actually 2 questions now...

1...is it worth it to do the update...

Blank screen! Won't turn on--have to remove battery!! HELP!

Hi! I just got the Q yesterday and had it sitting in my car this morning , it was fine. I went into a store , came back out and it was a blank screen. No matter what button I touched, it wouldn't come back on. I had to take out the battery and then put it back in.

Is this what people mean by saying that the Q FREEZES up?? I have this phone less than 24 hours and it's already showing signs of a problem? Any ideas? I just entered all of my contacts in last night and now I may have to exchange it? HELP!

speakerphone issue (input only problem)

Hi all,

Purchased my Q 2 weeks ago.. Almost immediately I discovered how horrible my speakerphone was working.. I can hear everyone perfect but sometimes I will have to nearly yell into the speaker hole on the bottom to have them hear me.. Sometimes this barely works.. its almost as though the sensitivity is WAY off...

so I take it into the store and they try it out via in-store calling and it works fine... so I go back to the parking lot and make 10 more test calls.. horrible results... i go back into the store and get a replacement... brand new unit with a serial # hundreds off my first unit... same problem....

So I wonder if this is a known issue or is there a known tweak I can try? Perhaps to mess with mic input settings ...

Motorola Q Time Zone Changing?

I just bought the Motorola Q, it is a great phone. But I have one problem, when I change time zones, the phone does not automatically change to the local time. I have to manually change the time and therefore, it changes my appointment times in my scheduler. Is there a setting for this or some time of fix? Please advise.

Thanks,

Cardealer

new version of the Q ??? the q2 perhaps??? :)

Does anyone know if there will be a newer version of the Motorola Q coming out any time soon and if so, when?

There just are too many negative reviews that I've seen although I only want this to store appointments and to have a slim phone as I said before.

Do you think the negative reviews will affect me? I did notice that the Q was a little slow to respond in the store. I fear that will drive me crazy!

Dialing with letters on the Q

One of the common frustrations I have heard about the Q is the lack of letters that are shown on normal phone keypads. This makes dialing numbers such as 1-800-callus difficult as well as hampering looking up names in automated corporate directories where you have to enter the first three letters of a last name.

This could be easily addressed with a couple of software enhancements. One would be to show a graphic of a dial pad (as in the Treo's UI) and allow a the user to dial using the scroll wheel or the numbers. The graphic would simply be a visual aid to show you the letters for each number.

Alternatively, the user could enter a mode whereby the phone would allow him or her to dial by letters (a=1, f=2 and so on). A mode butto...
