Motorola Q

i HAVE A Q AND NO LONGER NEED DATA, ALL I WANT IS THE PDA AND PHONE FUNCTION. VERIZON TOLD ME THAT IF I CXLD IT, MY PHONE WILL AUTOMATICALLY CONNECT TO THE INTERNET SEVERAL TIMES A MINUTE?? WHICH WILL COST ME A LOT OF MONEY. BEFORE I TURN THE PHONE OFF COMPLETELY. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING I CAN DO, I REALLY LIKE THE PHONE AND DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO A RAZOR AGAIN ☹️ BUT DON'T WANTY TO PAY THE 49BUCKS FOR THE INTERNET.

I am thinking of getting this phone . I saw that HandiTV can be downloaded. Is it really free TV? Is it what it's advertised to be? Any help would be much appreciated.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a list of 3rd parties software, for my new Q? Also do you have to pay or is it freeware?

If no list or site what are some good one you use? plus cost?

Which is better? They both have their pro's and con's. I want a phone that gets good internet connection and is easy to navigate. I love the Q as it has everything, but the XV6700 seems like a better device and have touch screen as well as Wi-Fi. But then again the number slide out has to be open in order to use the phone correct, Whav have you all encountered, like/disliked?

Is there a function like on the RAZR to set up a group so you can send one text to a group of people vice one at at time?

I'm hoping this has an easy fix. When viewing some web sites on my Q I have to scroll over to the right hand side to see the remainder of the page. I recall this happening on my old Dell Axim but for that I downloaded a copy of NetFront. That program allowed me to do what was called a "smartfit" in which the page was formatted to more or less fit the screen, thus preventing me from having to scroll to the left or to the right to see the remainder of the web page. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?

Can anyone tell me just how (if possible) to get ringtones on the Q? I am getting bored with the tones that come with the phone!

I am seriously considering buying the Q for two reasons. I want a phone with expandable memory so I can use it as a music player. From what I understand I can create playlists and listen to music using the WMP on the Q. How good is this function?
Second, I want to check and easily type emails, and most importantly uses the Q as a wireless modem for my laptop. How good is the latter function? Can you get decent internet speeds using the Q as a modem?
I centainly don't expect the Q to be like an ipod or a home DSL connection, but I just want to know if it cound handle both functions decently. Thanks for your help in advance.

I have been using this for a few months now and just the other day had the need to put the phone on vibrate. I went into settings (which seemed like a long way to just change the ring). Isn't there an easier way? Is there a vibrate feature on this phone at all? Is that the meeting feature???

I just purchased the Q today and as soon as I got home in my area, I noticed that there is merely one bar if that (it's charging , I haven't used it yet except to dial to upgrade my towers). Does this mean what I think? The reception in this area is going to be terrible with this phone? I previously used an e815 and it got phenomenal reception ANYWHERE! Should I just return this thing now already?? If so, what should I get???

The manual says that the number keys are automatically enabled when the user is entering data into a numeric field.

This is true when you are entering contacts (ie: the phone numbers for your contact)

HOWEVER - I've noticed there are several fields for which this is not true.

I was entering Calendar information, and I noticed that when I wanted to enter the date - I had to keep hitting the ALT key to enter the day/month/year.

I also noticed that when I was setting the alarm clock - I had to use the ALT key to enter the time.

Am I doing something wrong, or do other people have this issue as well?
Is there another way to enter dates/times w/o hitting the ALT key before every character?

When I had the Q, I'd take a video and it would freeze the whole phone. I'd have to take the battery out and would end up losing the video; which is frustrating because some monents can never re re-duplicated. Has this happened to anyone else. That was frustrating as ---- ! 😡

Any pics I take with the Q, any pics I receive in MMS are all tiny in size. How can I make them full screen please?

Just got my Q a few days ago, and this standard battery is complete BS.
Im going to ask them to give me an extended battery free since the standard sucks so bad, if that fails im going to squeeze them for what its worth to pay as little as possible for the extended. Verizon is a bunch of morons for selling this thing with the standard battery. Anyone who has used one for more than a few days should know exactly what I mean.

Customer service reps, here I come.

If they piss me off enough, I will go back to my V710, and get a Q some other time. Im that anal over this. I'm still within my 14 days return time. I will get shafted on this deal.

I may buy this phone, which will replace my current phone and my palm pda. I have a few questions.

1) How easy to use are the PIM (calendar/task) functions on this phone? for example - How easy is it to enter or change an appt?

2) How is the battery life?

3) Can you get a full daily view of appts (like you can on a palm pda?)

3a) Can you set up repeating appts (like birthdays) with alarms?

I'll probably purchase a Q in the next week. Given that some defective Qs have been returned already, are there any easy ways to identify whether a unit has been returned or refurbished?

I can't find any good reference online anywhere about this. I'm trying to transfer tracks form my account at Rhapsody To Go and although album names and artists do show up on my Q, none of the songs do. I have a 256 MD Sandisk. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Does it in fact work???

My phone has been working fine for 5 months.
All of a sudden, I stopped receiving e-mail via the Outlook E-mail client on the phone (which I have synced to work with www.wirelesssync.vzw.com). The error on the sync website is:

I've tried everything including:

- removing and reinstalling the syncclient software on the phone (and also ensuring I deleted the SyncClient folder in "Program Files" before re-installing

- Deleting all mail in the account on both the phone and the server.

- Deleting my device from the account set-up in the Wireless sync set...
