Well, we're circling in, folks. Hot on the heels of learning that Sprint employees have the Palm Pre in hand for training, there's word from all sides that Sprint has put a vacation blackout on the month of May for retail employees, which would seem to imply that the Pre will be launched sometime in there. We saw similar vacation freezes on AT&T's end for both iPhone launches, and those ended up fairly accurate. We haven't seen this memo personally, or threatened any Sprint employees for confirmation with shivs fashioned out of Samsung Instincts yet, so we'll keep an eye out for any other information to confirm or deny. Meanwhile, check...

PRE Advocates???

We're not totally sure here, but it sounds like Sprint employees are now being trained on the anxiously awaited Palm Pre. Over at PreThinking, they seem to have gotten their paws on an internal Sprint email that says that "employees can expect training to start in April as well as multiple communications to get them excited and ready to help our customers" for the Pre. Being of a curious nature, they apparently followed up to ask if the training had indeed begun, receving this mysteriously veiled reply: "I would like to inform that Sprint is in the process of providing the training...

No More: "No Cool Phones" Posts, Please!
Geeez! People, it's 2009, and most phones these days can do things a PC couldn't do twenty years ago. What are you really needing in a phone anyway?
I think the REAL problem is that most people want phones tailor made to suit their own likings. Well guess what? The phone features you want may not be what someone else wants, and the dilemma that phone manufacturers and wireless companies face is combining things together in a way that will appeal to the broadest possible audience.
Maybe someday phones can be custom ordered like cars and furniture. You would be able to select the color, style and features you want, and delete...

My question is why can I go to a 3rd party like Wirefly and get better pricing? I asked Sprint and they told me that they could not comment. I know there must be a reason why to not go to Wirefly or Best Buy, but as a consumer I am trying to find out what the catch is.
Thanks!
Recommendation please!
Blackberry 8330 or wait for the Instinct mini. ๐

Sprint CEO Hesse gets $14.2M in 2008 compensation
By David Twiddy, AP Business Writer
CedMagazine.com - March 31, 2009
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) รยขรขโยฌโ Sprint Nextel Corp. Chief Executive Dan Hesse received compensation valued at $14.2 million in 2008 as the telecommunications company continued to lose ground in the wireless industry, according to an Associated Press analysis of a regulatory filing Monday.
However, much of Hesse's compensation was in stock and options, which have plummeted in value since he received them.
Hesse, 55, received a base salary of $1.2 million and a performance-based bonus of $2.7 million last year, according to a proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
He also received stoc...

What the heck!?
I've been elig for a $150 discount off phones for a while now, and am holding out for the Palm Pre ๐
Here's the problem. I logged into my online account today and it says now I'm only elig for a $75 discount!!!!?
Nothing else has changed on the account, not even the balance since the last time I checked it. I don't get it, they just decide to give us less of a discount?
no sync through usb
I live in a fringe service area and the upload to their website does not work.
I find it difficult to beleive that a usb cable can only be used to charge the battery $20 ill spent.
Might there be an application that would allow direct communication. Now I remove the card and place in a PDA and copy the files accross.
I'm talking to Sprint tech support at the moment. I've been cut off twice when called back from customer followup.
Is there a logical reason that the phone does not have the ability to do a hard connect with a computer ๐ฟ
