Clearwire showcases Wi-Fi hotspot expander
By Monica Alleven, Wireless Week

Expectations are high for a 3G/4G modem to come to market this summer. In the meantime, how about combining Wi-Fi and WiMAX?
That’s what Clearwire Communications is doing with a new accessory that enables standard Wi-Fi products to connect to the Internet at broadband speeds via its Clear mobile WiMAX service. But buyer beware: The Clear mobile WiMAX service currently is available only in Portland, Ore., so consumers in other cities are out of luck until Clearwire launches in more metro areas later this year.
The company says the Clear Spot creates a personal Wi-Fi hot spot that travels with consumer...

sprint lost 1.3 millie again
This marks an 8 percent decline from the 53.8 million total subscribers Sprint had at the end of 2007. Notably, it also dropped Sprint below the 50 million mark!!!
$1.6 billion loss
I'll give my take on all this later.

Sprint employee plan
why doesn't
Sprint unlocks the GSM side of their CDMA/GSM phones, right?
Now the carriers in my area consist of VZW,ATT,TMO, and Sprint/Nextel.
ATT & VZW charge a small or rather large monthly fee plus per minute rates for international roaming. TMO just charges per minute international roaming rates...OUCH! 😲
Now Sprint factory unlocks their GSM capable phones allowing you to use a prepaid SIM from where ever your going internationally, saving you a ton of money.
So why doesn't Sprint capitalize on this price point and advertise it a little more? 😕
I know Sprint offers international packages too (although seemingly shooting themselves in the foot). And if you do it the way I suggest you wouldn't...

Sprint hitches up with Ford, eyes deals with gadget makers
By Monica Alleven, Wireless Week
CedMagazine.com - March 24, 2009
Sprint Nextel has been losing customers on the consumer retail front, but it’s adding them in the wholesale arena. The carrier today announced details of its deal with Ford Motor Co. to provide the connectivity for 2009 Ford F-Series and E-Series vehicles.
Beginning this spring, those vehicles – and later in 2009, Transit Connect vehicles – will offer an in-dashboard PC with Internet connectivity via the Sprint network. The idea, in part, is to provide productivity gains and reduce costs associated with fleets and scheduling. For example, field service and construction industries can modify an...

Sprint nabs top call quality in latest J D power report
Sprint CEO Dan Hesse often says that the company’s networks are performing as well or better than they ever have.
He’s an honorable guy, but what do you expect him to say? Really.
Hesse’s also a realist so he knows how important it is to get the validation of an outsider. J.D. Power is the often-cited “Gold Standard†of outside observers. Well, today, Sprint gets a gold medal from the Gold Standard of wireless industry consultants.
Sprint tied with Verizon Wireless for top honors in the West region in the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study.
“Sprint Nextel customers, in particular, report fewer proble...

Pre required unlimited plan?
I dont mind adding an unlimited data plan to my plan, but I do not want to change to another plan.
If we do, I might just get the rumor2 or the new samsung touchscreen phone I saw online.
Sprint's upgrades
everything plan, yes, but which phone is best?
3 new confirmed CDMA Blackberry phones
Blackberry Curve 8930 (8330 replacement)
Blackberry Niagara 9630 (8830 replacement)
Well these were 100% confirmed for Verizon so one would think Sprint would get these phones too. That's how it always worked in the past with every CDMA blackberry (except the Storm). I was told by a local Sprint rep that Sprint isn't getting these because they are selling tons of Curve 8330s and because they just got the Nextel Curve but that makes NO sense. Nextel is a different network. And every carrier sells tons of Curve 8300 series but they ALL confirmed discontinuing 8300 series and replacing with 8900 series. I'm sure blackberry wouldn't leave Sprint out of the fun.
illegal advertising?
driving to work this morning i heard a sprint commercial on the radio (something like $100 gift card for new acts, free rumor or lotus etc.) and at the end of it, when the "fine print" is being explained, i could EASILY tell the voice was fast forwarded (by like 1.5x or so)
isn't that illegal? I've never heard any other carrier do it, and i'm not bashing sprint so chill. or, it being just advertising it not matter, and it all comes down to the signature.
I just assumed this was deceptive advertising or something like that
ancient contract and ancient phones too
Anybody from NJ?
Also, I tried to find a confirmation on sprint.com about roaming on Verizon, and couldn't find anything...
Does Sprint allow users to force roaming at low signal levels - or does it have to go into a "no-reception" first?
