Verizon's VCAST TV launch plans!

Filed under: Multimedia, LG, Samsung, Verizon Wireless, EV-DO, CDMA
Psst, we have a secret to tell you: Verizon has a service coming out where you can watch TV on your cellphone. OK, well it's really not a secret thanks to a few friends of ours but we have some more details on the launch for you. The Network intends to launch their own branded MediaFLO product (aka VCast TV) March 1, 2007 with the Samsung U620 instead of the LGVX9400 due to the device having trouble in testing. It's expected to cost $15.00 per month and will initially launch in such cities as Minneapolis, Kansas City, a...

No getting out of your contract because of TXTs going up

My contract expires on 2/2008. I tried to terminate my contract today w/o a ETF and I was unable to. They advised me that TXT is an added feature that I do not have to have on my acct and I can cancel at any time. However, they did offer me the upgraded 2 year price on any phone I want to upgrade to if I am interested. However my gf has Sprint and my best friend has Verizon, as well as my family so Im stuck between a rock and a hard place. Plus BLUE TOOTH on Verizon sucks because you can not transfer files...and I'm a cheap bastard who does not want to pay anything for ring tones/songs.

Anybody else getting bored???/

No new phones (I know they are coming soon)...No good rants (Where's ArmySF when you need him!), No good rumors...I guess there was just CES, but verizon didn't really announce anything great.

Also, does anyone think that this website is a little behind with news stories, I always feel like phonearena, engadget, and mobile burn get stories online quicker.

Discuss amongst yourselves...

Which is better LG vx8600 or Krzr

Which is a better overall phone.
The only advantage to the KRZR is that my wife has a RZR and they have the same chargers.

Thank.

VZW OUTPACES SPRINT IN DATA APRU

I don't know why this is reported now but the #s are from the 3rd quarter. VZW posted arpu of 7.27 while sprint posted #s of 7.15. this may be a small margin but it is the first time vzw has posted higher data arpu than sprint/nextel. the report is on www.rcrnews.com one intersting fact not mentioned is that amped produces somwhere around $30.00 data arpu which is astonishing. Well anyways just wanted to let you guys know. Curious to see what the 4th quarter will show.

Do sales agents at Verizon W. corp stores know about the TXT price inrease coming?

A corp store I visited in Ballwin, Missouri had a sales agent who did not know there would be a price increase for text messaging coming up for Verizon. She proceeded to tell me that it was for another carrier...not for Verizon...and she was jokingly saying with me, "I'll even bet you some money"

Best Bluetooth Phone

Does anyone have an opinion on which Verizon available phone would be the best to use for Bluetooth. I just got an LG 8300 and i have several Bluetooth headsets and for all of them whenever they are used the person I am talking to get echo back when they talk. It goes away as soon as I disconnect the headset. I upgraded the software to v3 but that did nothing. All I really need is the Bluetooth function as I do not use it for music or PDA. Any assistance would be great!

SLIVR?

I read in a past post that Verizon was going to be getting the Moto Slivr soon. Does anyone know the drop date and pricing info? I need to replace my phone and don't know if I should wait. There isn't really any other phone I am interested in at Verizon, but like an idiot I broke my current phone and need a new one soon. I would really appreciate any info!

Desperate Housewives have Verizon Wireless????

Did any of you who watch Desperate Housewives notice on tonight's episode that it appeared that Lynnette(Felicity Huffman) had the 8300 and Gabby (Eva Longoria) had the Chocolate?

While I'm on the subject, if anyone also watch Grey's Anatomy, awhile back Alex was on hold for Dr. McSteamy on McSteamy's phone, which appeared to also be the Chocoalte.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone else noticed or if I'm the only one this obsessed with cell phones that I would notice something like this.

Speculation on Sprint's future...????

With them laying off 5000 employees it will be interesting to see what will become of them in the next year. Anyone care to speculate on what they think may happen?

Getting media and ringtones from IE7 to handset is easier now

It's really easy in IE7. Just play the ringer you like, then go Tools > Internet Options > General > Browsing History > Settings > View Files.

Copy the MID, WAV or MP3 file you just played, then just drag it to the phone with the data cable, or email if it is under 100kb.

On older versions of IE, you need to set Folder Options to view hidden files and folders, then drill to the Temporary Internet Files folder.

Another indirect question

Ok, the AM for West Central Florida has informed me that VZW is only taking agents who will open multiple locations. He hasn't explained himself when I responded to him via email which was 2 weeks ago.

In your experiences, does VZW expect 2 locations from the beginning? Or do they give you time to open the subsequent locations?

Also, has anyone had difficulty reaching their AM? It seems like he doesn't want to take on more stores! We've explained our eagerness to open up shop and he seems to be lollygagging...

Prepay network problems

I have a Samsung a670 on InPulse, and it started acting strangely a week ago. I don't get my minute readout before I make a call, and any incoming calls are dropped within the first minute of connection, but outgoing calls are fine. On the MyPrePay website, the call log seems to think I'm not making calls at all, and I'm not getting charged for them. I've run into one other person having the exact same problem. Have any reps out there seen this happen, and if so, do you know how to fix it?

The dummy models sent out feels like crap. Granted that could just be build quality, but if the shape is right I won't like it.

The battery isn't flush with the back of the phone, its actually recessed a little, so instead of putting a bigger battery in it, they made the phone uncomfortable.

It may be a good smartphone and all, but if I don't like holding it, who cares.

just my opinion of course, I'll reserve full judgement till we get the real ones.
