A couple questions for VZW Cust Service

I received an email from VZW about the VIP program because of the plan I am on. In it, it states that I can get a one time credit if I go over my minutes on a current billing cycle? Does this sound correct? It also gives a different number than regular customer service.

2nd question:
I have signed up for My Account years ago. It states in the Worry Free Guarantee that I should have the "Minute Check" enhancement to let me know when I have reached my peak minute allotment. Last month, I killed my minutes, but I would have cut down if I was to have received that message. Do I need to do something else to activate it? Thanks!

Considering a KRZR, questions

I have a Moto v710 and my wife has the e815 and I'm thinking of upgrading to the KRZR. I did some searching but I have some questions about the bluetooth capabilities. Currently all I can do with my phone's bluetooth is use a headset. Can I transfer files like pictures and mp3s with the krzr's bluetooth. I don't pay for txt messaging so I'd prefer to use other methods to transfer files.

Also, I've read about VW's crippling of these phones by preventing the use of mp3s as ringtones. Is there a simple way of modifying/unlocking the phones so that I could simply set an mp3 that I transferred to my phone (using either the sd card or the bluetooth) as a ringtone. If so can anyone direct me to where I can find this information?

One more que...

Question for VZW Reps

I haven't played with one enough to know...but on the Audiovox CDM 8615, on the external caller ID, does it actually show the name of the person calling (if stored in your contacts) or does it just show the number no matter what?

Verizon increases SMS rates -- customers now free of their contracts
Posted Jan 12th 2007 3:25PM by Donald Melanson
Filed under: Cellphones

It looks like Verizon Wireless is following in Sprint's SMS footsteps, announcing a planned hike in text messaging rates for those not currently subscribed to a messaging package. The hike, which will take effect March 1st, will bump the cost of sending a text message to the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico from $0.10 to $0.15 per message, with the price for international text messages remaining at $0.25 per message. The cost of receiving a message from customers of foreign wireless carriers, however, will increase to $0.15 whe...

Bad news for everyone -- Sprint plans to layoff 5,000 workers

Sprint Nextel Announces Plan to Lay Off 5,000 Workers

By Charles Babington and Kim Hart
Washington Post Staff Writers
Tuesday, January 9, 2007; Page D03

Sprint Nextel, still losing cellphone customers despite changes in management and operations, plans to lay off about 5,000 employees in the coming months, executives announced yesterday.

The Reston-based company suffered a net loss of about 300,000 wireless subscribers in the last quarter of 2006, said company officials, who projected lower sales for 2007 than analysts had anticipated. Most of the planned layoffs will be completed by early April, they said, and will be spread...

GIN Memory usage question

Let's say we have a phone without an expansion slot and it is advertised to have 30MB of 'memory'. I'll assume that means for media and ringtones.

What happens to that 30MB when you download Navigator and Backup Assistant? How large are the various apps and is that published somewhere?

Blue tooth on Verizon Wireless

Why can I not transfer files (ring tones) on Verizon Wireless. My friends who have Cingular and T Mobile are able to and are able to get free ring tones this way.

Any suggestions for Verzion Wireless customers to get FREE ring tones?

more help... please..

I am still trying to decide on a phone.. I am sorry that I keep asking questions. I have never been so on the fence about the phones Verizon offers. I am trying to decide between the LG enV and the 8600. I love all of the bells and whistles (battery life, camera, music player) of the enV, but I am not thrilled about the size. I love the size of the 8600, but I am not thrilled about the speakerphone and the keyboard. All of this being said, I wanted to hear what people thought about the keyboard - is it difficult to type or text? Can you do it without looking? etc??

are there any worthy phones coming out soon? Do you think Verizon will offer an update of the 8600 soon to remedy the horrible speakerphone?

Thank you!!!

I wanna be an authorized dealer...

For those shop owners out there; I'm looking into starting up my own authorized dealer. I went onto vzw.com and filled out the form and the response I got was "Send me your plan and I'll send you some information.", which is obviously not helpful. I'm currently a retail employee and I have some information from people I know in my area. (i.e. commission structure, insurance needs, advertising guidlines)

However, I'm having trouble finding out whether VZW has phones available for purchase or whether I have to find my own supplier. (As well as a few other things.) I looked into wholesale phones online and I'm actually better off buying phones at full retail from vzw!

As I said before, there are other questions, but the phone thing is bug...

VZ Navigator database 5 years out-of-date

I've used VZ Navigator now in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. I've noticed that the database of roads and physical addresses seems very up-to-date, but if you try to look up restaurants, stores, etc. -- that part of it is 5 years or more out-of-date. It would be handy when you are traveling to have current restaurants and stuff listed. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Should I?

Well it took all my nerves not to snap my 8910 in half today. It froze up 4 times in a row then when someone called me I couldn't hear them. The sound was VERY quiet and it kept cutting out. Mind you, I had full signal (5 bars) and the antenna was pulled up.

Anyways...

Should I buy a Kyocera 7135 on eBay? I need a new phone NOW, and I really want a PDA phone. I have seen some on there that are pretty cheap, just to hold me over about a year until I can get a killer PDA (like a 6800) from VZW. I need a PDA for web browsing, email (gmail), organization, and stuff from Handango and MobiHand.
If I buy a 7135 on eBay, how would I put it on my account? Could I add the unlimited data plan, even though it only has 1x data? Is the 7135 a fair ...
