Samsung murders Nokia

Once again too many assumptions have been made. Nokia does not suck, but the ideas behind the design and engineering of the phones sure does. Mr. Mellowdreamer, I actually have owned Nokia's, Motorolla's, and Samsungs, and have quite a bit of hands on experience with them. However, Nokia DOES sacrifice reception by not having and external antenna, the options the user menu gives you are limited, and 9 out of ten people have one hell of a time getting those damn battery covers off. Up until this year Nokia was the best phone, but Samsung has improved and the new models they now have give me only a quarter of the problems Nokia's gave me. And Bid Daddy you can SHUDDAFUGGUP because you just don't seen to be able to think too deep on things...

New Phones days or weeks away?

There are many new phones that are slated to be released anytime soon. Some of them include a Samsung 716, NEC 535, Nokia 3220, Sony Ericsson Z500, Motorola MPX-220, among a few others. It seems like at least some of these phones would come out in October, or if some are being held because of the takeover by Cingular.

One way or the other, some movement should be made in the way of new phones or a change to Cingular sooner. We need some more choices as customers...like some nice, higher end features like video recording. Anyone know more about what may lie ahead?

Question for everyone......

Will customers of ATTWS that are in contract be able to switch over to a Cingular contract (with signging a new contract, Im assuming) when the merger closes? Or will the ATTWS customer have to stick with the ATTWS plan until the contract is completely over? I have heard multiple answers from both sides. Any information?

Roaming

The national plans I see for ATTWS in the Seattle Metro area at least show the national plans having long distance and roaming INCLUDED with the plans.

The quick approach of Cingular?

With may factors pointing to a faster than expected takeover of AT&T Wireless, Cingular seems to have some sights on early October, possibly a lot earlier. Check out this news link:
http://yahoo.reuters.com/financeQuoteCompanyNewsArti ... »
This says that the takeover was on day 167 on Sept. 15th, and that most decisions are made by day 180, which would be just a few days before October begins if you go by that statement. There is a good web site to visit for info and FAQ's...it's: www.newcingular.com
It's a great site to visit, and answers a lot of questions. If anyone has more info on when we can expect AT&T to changeover to Cingular, please post your comments. Thanks!

AWS CUST CARE PHASING OUT...

Ok, I have several things to add to this posting. First, I don't know why everyone is SO INCREDIBLY concerned with this acquisition. In any huge company, especially with a buyout so huge, there are going to be jobs lost - but at the same token, there are going to be other jobs gained. Everyone seems to have such a negative attitude towards AWS, towards Cingular; there have been no real positive comments. What if this merger does really good things for us? Can anyone look at it that way? Good for the customers, good for the company, and good for us. Always have a positive outlook on things, it'll make you a better customer care rep and a better person. We all realize bad things can happen, but if that's all you think of, you should al...

Credits and Adjustments

I gotta agree with the angry team leader on one thing guys.... I really despise giving customers who throw the length of the tenure in your face every chance they get... like what is up with that? I should be privledged to talk to them because they have been with ATTWS since June 2003??? I'm sorry but if you are humble, down to earth and don't act like you're all that and a bag of chips you are more likely to get good service..

P.S I am never rude to a customer, I always treat them exactly how they treat me. So next time you wonder why that rep was snippy with you perhaps you should wonder whether you were snippy to them...

Need help choosing a new phone

I have been with AT&T for quite a while and am willing to stay with them when they change to Cingular, though i'm wanting a new phone any day now. I've been looking for something with video recording, EDGE, megapixel camera, all in a flip model. Though realizing that this isn't at all possibile at this poing, I might have to give up at lease one of those to make this a reality with new phones coming out.

It might be that AT&T is waiting on the takeover to be complete or close to it, before launching any new phones. That or we might see all new phones when Cingular takes over. Can someone assist me in choosing a new phone, or is waiting into October a better option?

Sony Ericsson Z500 coming soon

It looks the Sony Ericsson Z500 will be coming soon to AT&T (or Cingular). The phone is listed on the new rebate form http://rebates.att.young-america.com/PDFs/496 1-101-32-2.pdf
Check out this phone here at phonescoop, it looks to offer a lot of what's been missing in the phone line-up for a while, video recording, EDGE, dual color displays, and streaming multimedia, all in a nice small flip. If anyone has more info on this model, please post what you know. Thanks
