Can any reps help me?

I'm an indirect and Ive been having one hell of a time with DSG. I have a customer that I ported a number for the other day. He was a US Cellular Customer and ported over two numbers. I put them on a 59.99 National with a 9.99 add-on line with a 2 year contract. One of their phones works perfectly. The other will not receive calls from a land line. They can receive calls from any wireless carrier. DSG says that its the land lines companies problem (SBC). I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions. I call SBC and they act like I'm crazy as hell for even calling them. I'm not getting anywhere with this and the customer is getting pretty pist. Anyone that can help me please do!

Differences in phone offerings

It has appeared that AT&T and Cingular are working close together in releasing phones, with the trio of Motorolas released recently.

Speaking of this, Cingular released the Nokia 6230, it's second phone with streaming multimedia. New features include 4-minute video recording and much smaller size than the Nokia 6620 that both carriers offer.

When will us AT&T customers see another multimedia or video enabled model in a smaller size phone? My guess is that the takeover is coming very soon or a new phone is just around the corner.

Nokia 6620 vrs Motorola V505

Never had GSM cell service, thought I would give it a try. I've been using the Motorola V710 (CDMA) with Verizon. Any suggestions on what AT&T GSM phone would be somewhat equivalent? At first glance it looks like the Nokia 6620 or the Motorola V505.

Fcc's abernathy:no rush on cingular-at&t wireless

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Federal Communications Commission member Kathleen Abernathy said Thursday that FCC consideration of the proposed merger between Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless Services Inc. (AWE) could take weeks rather than days.

The regulatory agency's consideration of the tie-up would take "more than a couple of days," Abernathy said at a briefing with reporters, estimating the time needed to make a decision as a matter of weeks, rather than months.

"I think it would be a mistake for any of us to take it lightly. It's a complex merger," she said.

Cingular announced plans to buy AT&T Wireless on Feb. 17 for about $41 billion in a deal that would create the nation'...

Lack of new phones lately

With carries like Verizon releasing a good many new phones...high-end flip models like with a megapixel camera, video recording, outside color displays, and so on, it's about time we see some nice flip phones released on our carrier. As AT&T customers, we can only speak for the Samsung e316 and NEC 525, and both of these lack those better features.

A couple models that are supposted to be coming anytime soon in October are the Motorola MPX220 and NEC 535. We need some higher end flip phones...which one will we see first?

Dropped Calls

I need to ask some advice real quick. When I sell anyone a phone on any of the carriers that we offer at my company, I tell people that they really shouldn't have more than 2-3 dropped calls a month and that if they have more than that they should contact customer service because there may be a problem with thier phone or may be some kind of network issue.

I also tell them that is they live in outlying areas that they will drop more calls, thats just the nature of the beast. Also I tell them that while they are traveling between cities that they are more likely to drop a call vs being in an urban area with multiple towers.

My question is: Is 2-3 dropped calls a month a fair estimate? Should I tell them that they may experience more...

Massive dropped call problems

I signed up with ATTWS about 3 months ago, as they had good rates to Canada. I got a Samsung E316 phone, and had a whole bunch of SIM Card errors, where it would ask if I wanted to send an SOS. And the phone would shut off randomly, and sometimes I would need to pop the battery to get it to reboot.

So I sent the phone back and got a replacement E316. I've had two SIM card errors, but now I get dropped calls all the time. It's so bad I consider myself lucky if I can go 2 minutes without a dropped call. The phone doesn't say dropped call, it just suddenly stops, and the phone says Call Ended.

So my question is, does this phone just suck? Could I have a problem with my SIM Card? Something else?

Thanks,
Erick

A bit odd

Its a bit odd really. A friend of mine has att wireless, and has lots of dropped calls, spotty reception, and major problems all together. He plans to switch to a different service when his contract is up. He has an LG phone, through att. I have att, live not more than a mile from him, and have a Nokia phone, not through att, that I bought in Asia. I never have any dropped calls, and have decent reception almost everywhere I go in the bay area. I think that the hand phone is a huge part to decent service. Almost as much as the service provider. Though, I have to say, hand phone service in asia is far better than here in the states, by any stateside serive provider, and I've had them all.

Cingular taking over in October?

We've all probably heard that October would probably be the month that Cingular takes over AT&T Wireless. Now, with October practically here, what part of the month is it most probable to occur? I was reading today that this is day 180 of FCC's timeline, can we expect some kind of statement any day now?

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! 7pm start times!

Barring any last minute changes, which as many of you know is entirely possible, 7pm n/w min start times are coming 03/06!!!!

The details have changed since the last time it was announced it was coming....

It's a feature that can be added on to almost every account (shared and family plans are not eligible, along with national accts, etc.) that is $59.99 and higer, and requires a 2yr contract.

This, combined with unlimited m2m and the customer first program will make a great offer!!! I just hope customer's can get past the 'fear' of agreeing to a 2yr deal.

"National" and "Long Distance" doesn't mean "No Roaming"

Lately I have been very suprised at the number of customers who call in about their high roaming charges. They say that they thought their National plan gave them roaming anywhere in the US. A National plan gives no roaming in the US WHILE ON AN AT&T NETWORK. Many customers also think that Long Distance means "no roaming." I'm pretty sure that most of these customers are dumb or just trying to get out of paying their bill, but I believe many of them are telling the truth also. Many reps and sales people are misinforming customers by telling them a national plan gives no roaming in the US. So whoever it is that is screwing up the definition of roaming GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER. 👿

Megapixel camera phone soon?

When might we see a megapixel camera phone released? With better phone features and new technology, a megapixel camera phone for AT&T shouldn't be too far off, a couple other carriers already have one. Any ideas of what model might bring this feature and when?

The Takeover is Imminent

Hello all,
This weekend all of my call center's (WEST in Reno) NBO reps just had merger training. This all basically detailed the expectations of what day zero and beyond will be like, along with new transfer numbers and a funny reference to Cingular (the "Orange Tiger" team, hahaha). Anyways, it seems AWS is expecting it's "day zero" to be coming very soon. Any other reps or people with any thoughts?
