Tell me your CWA horror stories

In the past couple of weeks the union has moved into our center. There is a group of us that wants to fight unionization.

We want to hear from employees who work in Cingular centers covered by the CWA contract. Tells us the disadvantages of being unionized. Tell us the stories of how the union is not working for you!

Thanks!

Question on a phone.

My sister is having problems with her phone and does not have phone insurance. Sometimes her phone works properly, sometimes it doesn't. More recently it hasn't been working more often than it has. Instead of buying another feature-packed phone that she doesn't want, she just wants to get a simple flip and doesn't want to have to shell out a lot of money for it.

My question is:

If she buys a GoPhone kit with the LG 1300 included, can she use the phone with her current SIM card? Or does Cingular have GoPhones locked with seperate codes to only allow the prepaid SIM cards included in the kit?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance. 🙂

Deferred Billing

After having a cell phone for two years at $50.00 a month I opened my Cingular phone bill this month and it was $505.00. I went way over my minutes on my plan because Cingular included calls that were made the month before. They call it deferred billing. A co-worker had the same thing happen this month. His bill is $300 over what it normally is. I can't get anyone at Cingular to provide a logical explanation. I think it must be illegal. I want to know how widespread this is. Anyone else have this happen?

Call quality issues

I've had Cingular for about two months, and I really want to like it, but I can't get too excited over it. The call quality is really poor.

Some background, so maybe some of you CS people can help me here. I have an SE S710a, and I am in Canyon TX, 79015. I can have a full 5 bars of signal strength, and the incoming voice gets garbled (static, whatever you want to call it) at the most inoportune times. The voice gets all fuzzy, fades out, then comes back. I can stand completely still, and it will still randomly do this.

I have called Cingular about the problem, and they sent me a replacement phone. I made a call with the new phone and I immediately notice the same problem. I call Cingular again, and the CS guy tells me he ne...

6230 Gone?

Talking with a seemingly knowledgeable Cingy store rep yesterday he told me that the Nokia 6230 has been completely discontinued due to a "severe fatal software flaw" that is "unrepairable". His store didn't have any and could no longer get them either. Anybody have information about this???

MIlwaukee, WI consumer reviews

For those of you in the Milwaukee, WI area (or, really, anywhere in southern WI), what have your experiences with Cingular been like as far as coverage, customer support, phone quality, etc?

I have a month and then I'm thinking about switching to a different carrier (from US Cellular; great coverage, awful phones), and I have a few people I know with Cingular. Most are good reviews, and some are terrible; I figured I needed a larger sample.

Using a TDMA phone on another network than the origin one: do-able?

I've had an offer for a motorola v60 TDMA, and I'd be interested to buy it. However, I am living my last years in Canada, and intend to cross in the US. So, basically, this phone is a Rogers, and I was wondering if I could get it activated on Cingular (they still got the TDMA network, right?)

Need help from a Cingular rep or someone who knows...

After some thorough investigating, I decided to purchase an unlocked Nokia 6681. I currently have service with CIngular and am just switching my SIM card over to the new phone. My problem is, I'm really hyped about the new PTT service Cingular is getting, and I know they are launching 2 new phones--but I'm really not impressed with either one. My 6681 has the PTT capability. Please tell me I'll be able to use my phone with the new service???

Wow! Anyone heard this before?

I just had a customer come in who had her phone for 5 months, was on a 39.99 plan, and got her ETF waived because the phone ended up not having the features she needed. How do you buy a phone and find out 5 months later that it doesn't have what you need??? And what idiot C.S. rep. waived her ETF??? I saw the notes and still cannot believe it. I LOVE CINGULAR! But I do have to admit we need to tighten up our hiring standards, and all the C.S. reps. wonder why they get paid so little...STOP GIVING AWAY MONEY!!!!

HELP! Need contract questions answered.

My mother has Cingular, but she doesn't use her phone much.
She was a long time ATT customer, then migrated over to Cingular. When they migrated her over, she was supposed to be put on a 2yr contract. But the CSR that did the migration, made a mistake. The system shows her as not being on contract. So I called Cingular...had a few words with a customer care agent...he was not going to make any changes to her account but was going to make notes of what he noticed. So the question is... I want to port her number over from Cingular to my carrier and my plan, what will she be charged? (This is in NY area)

Thanks for any help anyone can offer...

What phone do you recommend?

If I am hired by Cingular, which phone should I get? I am kind of thinking RAZR, but is it durable, or will it fall apart on me? I am also thinking Moto V551, but its screen is not as big as the RAZRs. Thank you very kindly.
