is at&t blocking BOA's website?

I've got a "blocked by network operator" (or some similar message) whenever I try to check my Bank of America account from my phone while using Opera's web browser. Anyone else experiencing this?

Use of Phone as Dial-Up Modem -- Voice Time or Data Time?

I might not ask this question quite the right way, so please bear with me.

Many moons ago, I had a cell phone that could attach to my laptop and act as a modem. The laptop would, in effect, dial the number for an access point (e.g. and internet dial-up provider, or my company's direct dial-in ports).

I haven't done that in years. However, I am interested in knowing if I *can* do that without being on a data plan -- just using normal air time (which would be free on nights and weekends). Of course, it would be much slower than a data connection, but it would be a functional backup when I have no DSL or Cable ISP available.

If so, what equipment do I need to enable this on a Nokia 6650 Fold or a Nokia E71?

Thanks ...

How do the prices vary from the net? Can anybody get me in store pricing? We are Vermont agents that are in the conversion process and are looking to keep our prices in line with core stores. M

Hopefully TEXASWIRELESS can answer me this...

I am not a frugal person, but I don't like wasting money, it's a huge pet peeve of mine, it is also why the rich stay richer and the poor stay poorer, money management...

wow that was long winded and pointless, but I do like my research (using a British accent, because I think it adds to the ambience with the smoking pipe and smoking jacket that I have on, but not really).

I am curious that if I go ahead and get the iphone, with the 900 minute plan and the data, and unlimited text (I do like to text my heart out) what would it run me after taxes.

Wow, check out the preperations ATT is taking for the inaugaration. . . 70-80% increase in capacity!

AT&T said it will boost its network by 70 to 80 percent along the parade route and parts of Georgetown. It is deploying two cell sites carried on trucks to key traffic areas and boosting capacity at the Renaissance M Hotel, the Gaylord National Resort, the Hilton Washington and the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. The company will have an additional two cell towers on standby, ready to be rolled out to areas with high traffic.

Seems like an impressive effort to maintain network capacity to me.

Here's the full article, I thought it was an interesting read:

Bold for Iphone 3G

Okay so before anyone that dogs me about this, please just don't. I am not here for an argument or whatever. I have my blackberry bold, and I love it, however I am not a big corporate user, and I miss some of the playful features of the Iphone. I understand that some might consider this a big down grade but really I don't mind.

Anyone willing to trade a Iphone 3G(white or black) 16gb, for a blackberry bold? My phone is in PERFECT condition with screen protector and skin on it since day one and would expect the same for it.

shoot me an email if interested. Oh i live in the Denver, CO area so if there is a local people interested even better!

Using an unlocked Nokia E71 on AT&T?

I am at the end of my contract period with Verizon and I would like to step up to a more modern phone. I like the Nokia E71, and I've seen them selling unlocked phones that they say will work on AT&T. The phone has Wi-Fi, Voice Dial, Auto-Answer, Email, Bluetooth, Camera, GPS and other nice features. I have several questions about using this on AT&T:

1. As it has Wi-fi, I assume that means I can use the phone to connect to the internet via my home wireless router (or those at various public places) without having to purchase a data plan..?

2. I assume that AT&T will not REQUIRE that I purchase a data plan, just because the phone has data capability.

3. Does the GPS feature work (in any useful manner) without having to pay for a m...

BB Bold & BB Alerts

So I'm playn' around with the BB Bold for awhile. And I have 'BB Alerts' running on it and I see under profiles, advanced there's an option for BB Alerts, witch I'm pretty sure wasn't there on older BB's I used with that app.

So I'm wondering if I can adjust the settings of BB Alerts from there rather than opening up the app and doing it from there?

Also under the sound settings (you know, enhanced, more bass, more treble) what's 'previous'?
I assume it means what the user previously had it set at. Like if I adjust the volume with the rocker switch, with 'previous' selected that's where the volume would stay.

To the people of at&t

I just want to tell you my little story about at&t.
One day I thought to myself, "maybe I'll try at&t" so I got a prepaid phone and tried them out. I never got text messages. I called it in and they told me it was my fault. I yelled at them and they patched me in to someone else. I told them my problem and they said tough. So I thought maybe they just had a bad day. I tried later and the lady that could actually speak english got me a free text package but it didn't fix the problem. I thought I would keep giving at&t a chance. They took over a local company that used unlocked phones in my area. The people there have been lying to them saying that their unlocked phones will no longer work and that they need to switch their plans asap.
I did...

Is at&t really stooping to this level??

http://gizmodo.com/5122738/att-downgrading-2g-servic ... »

Timothy Butler over at OFB did some sleuthing and found that AT&T is downgrading its EDGE/2G service to the weaker 1900 MHz band. Their response to those with newly-lousy service? Buy a new phone.

EDGE/2G was previously using the 850 MHz band, which compared to the new 1900 MHz offered superior coverage, especially indoors. The switch, as confirmed by AT&T sources, is designed to boost the network's 3G coverage, but that leaves many users of previously functioning phones, including the original iPhone, with worse service, especially in rural areas. An AT&T PR representative, as well as several customer service reps, offered the same solutio...

Long time Verizon customer considering switching

Bottom line, I love the IPhone but have heard horrible things about AT&T's service. Can anyone tell me honestly how reliable / clear it is?

Thanks.

BB Bold, OUCH!

The phone is married to what is quickly becoming the worst wireless network in the U.S. – AT&T. The high number of dropped calls and slow 3G speeds have dampened the joy of using Bold in the brief time I have tested device, which is a shame, because it is the Audi A8 of smartphones: good-looking, durable, easy to use and a texter’s delight. It would be perfect on Verizon’s EVDO network.

😳
The above is from a review of the BB Bold back in November I came across researching the Bold.
Here's a link to the actual review.

Make it or Break It......THIS COULD BE THE YEAR..........

Well folks....the holiday season is over.

It is 2009. If AT&T wants to set the tone for the new year, they do have a chance. Every year people look forward to new phones being released and this year is no different.

So, the question is. Will AT&T release or sign up to carry any "Real" type of mobile devices.

We all know who makes the best mobile devices and where they are located, and not to mention if you want to buy one and use it in the United States....It will cost you about 300.00 to 800.00 dollars.

Well, If AT&T wants to crush the competition and steal the market, they CAN. They have a great network, they have a great product and now it is type the step up their game and show the American Consumer what a REAL phone can ...

AT&T WILL always be the number one carrier

I don't care what Verizon fanboys say. AT&T is just better. Better phones, better quality, better service. It is an indisputable fact. End of story. The end. I'm going to Disney World!
