Is GSM worse than CDMA?

I currently use Verizon in the Indianapolis area. Their network is rock solid, and I can't complain really. However, I am starting to think that Verizon is pretty stingy when it comes to "extras".
I have looked at T-Mobile (not AT&T), and I am wondering what some of you think about their network in Indy? Do you have trouble with dropping calls, etc.?
I like the idea of "My Faves" because that would actually work for me. I also think HotSpot @ home is pretty cool, although they need to allow all of their Wi-Fi capable handsets to be compatible with it.
I ask Verizon when they are going to add something like a circle of friends, or early nights and weekends, and all I get is "but we have the best network".
Thanks for the help.

Questions about T-Mobile

I am considering porting from Verizon to T-Mobile in order to get the new BB Curve with WIFI. What can anybody tell me about T-Mobile's coverage? I live in Boston. How is the customer service?

On the WIFI...can I connect for free to any wifi spots?

How fast is the edge coverage?

Any other comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Iowa Wireless Anyone???

Just wondering if anyone lived in Iowa using T-mobile's Iowa Wireless. I have US Cellular now and virtualy everyone where I live has IWS due to our local phone company being localized is part of the network and has a tower on the edge of town. US Cellular is lucky to be able to pull a signal in this town which is quite pathetic considering they have a tower only about 4-5 miles away.

FCC Filing Reveals HTC TyTN II Coming To T-Mobile USA

The FCC filing for the HTC TyTN II, filed in May 2007 but under confidentiality agreement until recently contains six User Manuals. Browsing through these User Manuals reveals that the first one, "KAIS100", has several mentions of MyFaves, T-Mobile Hotspot login screens, and t-zones. There are also several screenshots in the User Manual showing the HTC TyTN II sporting the pink and grey T-Mobile USA theme.

Page 223, the UMTS bands are listed, with "800/1700/2100" being listed as "For Japan." Odd thing is, T-Mobile doesn't operate in Japan. Also, no T-Mobile division, aside from T-Mobile USA, currently offers MyFaves. T-Mobile USA is rumored to be launching their 3G UMTS/HSDPA network in the coming months, so the HTC TyTN II would be a gre...

Official Apology Regarding T639

I may argue hard but when I'm proven wrong I will admit it.

The T639 is 3g enabled, I saw one yesterday that a Samsung rep had. He confirmed it is 3g enabled, but it is locked to 2g until the network sends an enabling signal to the phones, because the perpetual search for the 3g network will drain the battery very fast. The ban on the 3g chips did infact delay the release of the phone, but T-Mobile got a stay on the ban so the phone will be out on the shelves next month. Samsung will have one other 3g phone come out by black friday(not smartphone).

And a few tidbits on 3g. As most know, the major markets will have 3g at the end of the year. Also 3g is ready for sure, there was a nationwide manager summit in Texas a few weeks ago, a eng...

Customer Service who work in data (T-Zones)

Ok, Got a N73 Nokia off ebay and it automatically loaded the t-zones and picture messaging settings. The only problem is that T-Zones looks a lot different than say on razor or nokia 5300. In other words T-Mobile branded phones get a different T-Zones than non T-Mobile UNLOCkED phones. Does anybody know how to fix this. Thanks

In today's WSJ.

" FRANKFURT -- Deutsche Telekom AG said its T-Mobile unit in the U.S. is to acquire all outstanding shares of U.S. mobile-phone company SunCom Wireless Holdings Inc. for $2.4 billion including debt.

Deutsche Telekom said it will buy the outstanding shares for $1.6 billion and take over net debt of $800 million. Deutsche Telekom, which is based in Bonn, Germany, said it expects the deal to create synergies of around $1 billion, mainly through the reduction of roaming fees and operating costs."
