Pairing the vx-8300 and Dell x30h PDA

I just did this the other day to see if I could and they paired just fine. Now that I have, what next? I can send contact info from the PDA to the phone. Is that about it for pairing these devices?

Everyone, Please Check Your Phone For This!

Ok, I'm on my 3rd 8300 for various reasons, and on the first one I noticed that on the inside, along the right side next to the keys close to the edge there were scratches. I couldn't figure out how I scratched it there of all places. Anyway, had to return for a different reason and next one did the same thing, and also the 3rd now. Do the two pieces rub together or something? Is it just me? Can everyone please check your phone and let me know if yours did this too? Thank you.

Insurance - Yay or Nay?

I declined the insurance for my LG VX8300 phone (through VZW) and am in the middle of my 15-day trial period. I am now reconsidering my decision and think that paying the extra $5.99 per month may be more to my benefit. What are your thoughts on the insurance that is offered? Would it be wise to take it? And should I do so, would I be able to cancel it at anytime or is it permanent?

8300 Bluetooth issues -Tested more headsets today and it's depressing !

Hey guys

So we got samples of the Plantronics 655 and the 340 today.. I was so psyched to test these because of the great success I am having with the 320R and the 8300.

The Plant 320R is the only headset in existance that has zero feedback, good volume and works with the voice dialer.

I know alot of people think their Scala and Moto headsets work with the 8300 and yes I guess they kind of work but as far as voice quality to the caller and to the cell user. That is where it's bad. Every headset tested from Jabra and Cardo and Moto and Nokia etc. All cause some kind of intermittant Echo to the outside caller. This is unusable when you are doing 4000 Mins a month and using your phone for business. The 320R does a great job and does n...

WMA file will not play

I too have enabled the Mp3 player and now enjoy both Mp3s and WMAs on my 8300 except for one particular CD. I can not play John Mayer's "Room for Squares" CD on the phone and the songs will not even show up on the manage music screen.

The only thing I have noticed is that, in the windows media player library, the songs on that CD have file names like, City Love [5.1 Surround Sound and PCM stereo].wma In other words these songs seemed to be encoded in 5.1. They will not play in 5.1 on my DVD player however. What's up with that? Anyone know a source on info for this problem?

Jabra BT Stereo Headset

I just bought the Jabra BT Stereo Headset. They work fine for everything but music. I've enabled the mp3 player, loaded mp3s, and set the play button to my_mp3s. Whenever I press the play button on the headset it opens the mp3 player but the music plays through the phone speakers rather than the headset (same thing when I push play on the phone). Any Thoughts?

signal strength: EV, TX, D, etc. -- what do they mean?

What do the bars by the EV, TX, D, etc. indicators mean? I'm concerned that I am not getting an "in network" signal -- is there a way to set the phone to ensure that I don't get hit with roaming charges? The manual just says what these are, doesn't really explain them or go into how to change how/when they display.

Could it be under Settings&Tools, Phone settings, System Select? The choices are Home Only and Automatic -- Automatic was factory-set on my phone so I haven't changed it.

Thanks for helping. As you can see, a newbie with a lot of questions on the new toy! 😉

Polyphonic Ringtones BANNED by Verizon?

Wow, so I was not aware that polyphonic ringtones were banned from the LG VX8300 by Verizon Wireless. Or at least that is the way it appears to me. I figured I would go to my usual "free polyphonic ringtones" website (which I used to get a few tones for my old Samsung SGH-X426) by way of the WAP browser on my phone. Went to the site, punched in the ringtone code, went to download it, and what happens? My phone seemingly resets itself! I see the Verizon Wireless logo and it reboots itself. Wouldn't you know it, no new ringtones listed on my phone. What is that all about? Am I doing something wrong? Are they THAT greedy that I cannot even load up a single polyphonic tune on my phone?

Power Save on/off - affecting front LCD ?

I read somewhere that you are able to change the power save feature on or off, thus it can make the front LCD stay lit forever (I think it was for the 8100).

When you press (hidden) Menu - 7 times 0, choose no. 10 "Battery Test", and then (1) Backlight Setting. I don't know what to do, but perhaps one of you guys would figure that out and let us know? And perhaps you can figure out as well what is "Slot Mode"?

LIGHTS and FRONT DISPLAY BACK LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

Two questions:
1. Does this phone light up on the sides like the 8100 does? If not, does it light up at all when the phone rings?

2. Is there a way to keep the front display on? I have it set at 30 seconds, but after 30 it just goes completely dark like the phone isnt even on. Is there a way for it to just be dim and show the time or something like on the 6100 instead of it going blank?

VX8300 & bluetooth speakerphone?

Has anyone paired their VX8300 with a LG HFB-300 Bluetooth speakerphone? Or the Motorola bluetooth speakerphone?
I realize it has built-in speakerphone but this is for use in a truck and standard speakerphone isn't loud enough.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

my 8300 battery

I just got this phone on Thursday. I love every aspect of it, I just have one concern - the battery. I have gone from full to none within 12 hours. Now I'm not sure if this is why, but I was in an area this past weekend where my phone was often searching for service. I thought this may be why the battery has run out so fast. Any thoughts? I'm thinking about exchanging the phone for a new one. I could go 3 -4 days on my 4500 without a charge. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

Problems Uploading Songs

I purchased the music accessories kit, mainly just for the cable to connect to my computer so I can use bitpim. When I got the kit, I added like 100 songs without too much hassle. Now, I'm trying to add some more and every time my computer tries to write to my phone, the phone shuts off and the computer loses it's connection. Anybody else having this problem or have any suggestions?

You Decide: LG VX8300 For Me?

I currently have a Motorola V505 w/ AT&T Wireless, but have never migrated to Cingular because my plan is better than anything offered. However, I have moved to Stamford, Connecticut and get terrible coverage at my home and drive to work. Apparently, everyone has luck with Verizon in my area, so I think I will go with their service.

I want a phone that:
1) Has great reception
2) Has a great earpiece (I have some hearing difficulty due to manufacturing work and firearms)
3) Good battery life
4) Dependability

I will not be using the internet, text messaging, camera, audio, or other add-on features.

Does the LG VX8300 fit my profile?

I will be traveling to Kentucky (where I had great Cingular coverage) once every 6 weeks or so f...

$35 activation fee?

I recently switched over to VZW from Cingular Wireless and purchased an LG VX8300 phone. I opted for the two-year contract and was told there would be a $35 activation fee, which I figured was standard. However, my friend (who also has Verizon and purchased both of her phones in-store as I did) told me she NEVER had to pay any activation fees, so long as she selected the two-year plan. Even the Verizon website backs up what she is telling me. However, the VZW rep who I bought the phone/plan from in store e-mailed me back telling me, "The activation is $35.00 for a one year or two year contract. We don't waive that fee. The activation goes straight to your first bill. There's always an activation fee with the new line of service." So am ...

Bluetooth Syncing Issue with my car Stereo!

So my mom just got a new 8300 and I was testing out the bluetooth before I spring for my own.

When trying to pair up the phone and my stereo (Pioneer DEH-P9800BT) I can't get the phone to sync up. It will detect the stereo and allow me to enter a passkey. I type in 0000 which is the current key on my stereo and it says the pairing failed. However, when I put my phone on discovery mode and then allow the stereo to find the phone, it syncs up and pairs just fine. Then when I turn off the stereo and turn it back on, I try to get the phone to pair up again and it tells me device I'm trying to connect to is not on or out of range.

Am I doing something wrong with the bluetooth or is this an issue with my phone/stereo combination? When the d...
