Unified Billing System

Some of you may already know that Sprint is switching their billing system to UBS ( Unified Billing System ). From my understanding, the system is going to unify both CDMA and iDEN together. Some of you may have been turned down at a Sprint store or possibly Sprint's customer service. Those of you who are in this transition, there is a number where you can get account information. The UBS number is going to be 1-877-541-5705, or you may also call Nextel's customer service. If you go through Sprint's customer care, they may transfer their customers to their extension that can take 45 minutes to get to UBS representative. It's faster to go through Nextel's customer care, or just call the number that is given here.

samsung A900 bugs

This phone is pretty but junky. Samsun have a long way to go to make their phone work right. Using this phone makes me feel like using a prototype: a lot of bugs in the phone:

1. If you finish a phone call and fold up the phone without pressing the END button twice, the screen will never turn dark and the battery will drain all the way. To reset the screen, you need to turn the phone off completely and restart.

2. Quite offen, the phone would loss the singal strength and call information on the screen for unknown reasons, to rest? you need to turn the phone off completely and restart.

3. When you get in a no service place like a high rise building, oops the phone would loss it normal screen and display a funky rotating spaceship lik...

My opinion on recent developments.

I guess the bright side of Sprint right now is the growth in the Power Vision, DO network which has over 1.5 million customers so far, MVNOs and Boost Mobile while both legacies are struggling and it is quite obvious which network is doing poorly. The good thing what I listened to during the call is that they were very upfront with their problems at hand and have plans in place to fix them. I think Mr. Forsee is a good leader but we have to see if they can execute which is key especially if you have everything going for you such as having the best assets in the industry, but if you cant execute then doesn’t matter about your assets. There is obviously some problems going on and it seems like they aren’t keeping the subscribers as evidence b...

Any New Win OS 5 phones coming to Sprint?

I have been with Sprint for almost 7 years. I have had no complaints in that time, but now I want more with my phone. I have noticed that there a lot of Win OS 5 phones coming to Cingular and T-Mobile. As much as I hate to admit it, I am considering switching to one of those carriers so I can get an inexpensive smartphone.

Does anyone know Sprint is planning on adding any new smartphones to their rather meager line-up? I would really like to stay wiht them as I have never had any coverage problems.

Thoughts on WiMax?

For the techno geeks out there, what are you thought's on WiMax and how well it will be implemented by Sprint once they launch it?

What are some of the benefits and downsides to using such a protocol?

the 800MHZ myth

Myth: 800 MHZ is a stronger signal there for it penitrates deeper.

Fact: 800mhz bandwith is the noisiest bandwidth used by wireless trafic. there is so much signal that if the signal is not broad cast at a high enough amplitude then it is very supseptable to distortion, resulting in loos of quality of signal.

Myth: 800mhz pentrates deeper into buildings then 1900 mhz

Fact: 800mhz looses a lot of its power as it truges threw its cluttered bandwidth. 1900 mhz is above most other frequenses being generated on planet earth there for it does not loose its power as it is transmited. What this means is that the net result is the same. you really don't get better signal one way or the other in terms of penetration.

The truth is that 80...

Are You Using Verizon's EV-DO Rev A?

I know Sprint just announced activation of their EV-DO Rev A network in San Diego yesterday, but is there anyone out there using it already?

I writing up a "what's next" story for a business newspaper here in northern CA and I'd like to include a quote from someone with real-world experience with the new network who is unaffiliated with the company.

I'll monitor the forum. But, you can call/email/IM me too. I'm .

Thanks!
Michael
