Asurion-- is it true?

Is it true that Asurion replacement phones are junk? Like loose buttons, bugs (if you have a PDA), and scratches/dings?

Maybe I should seek different phone insurance...

What's up with the W385???

Hello everyone,

Just wondering, who designed the W385?

1. Is it just me, or is there absolutely no way to tell what is the current ringtone the phone is set to use? When you go into the list of ringtones, there is NO indicator, dot, or ANYTHING in front of the current set ringtone. WHY no indicator?

2. If it is a Motorola, WHERE ARE the smart keys on the side so that the phone can be set from ring to vibrate mode without opening the flip? Is this really a Motorola phone?

3. What's with the little cover that covers the charging port? I'll give this about a month before this breaks off of its flimsy hinge.

4. Why is the lame, stupid Verizon UI on such a basic phone??? The Samsung u340 does NOT have the Verizon UI, and...

Could I Get Burned Waiting For the LG 8350??

Okay, it appears I'm gonna go with either the LG 8300 or the 8350 for my NE2 phone now.

My strategy is as follows:

1- Wait for the 8350 to release.

2- Try it out.

3- If it suxs, bring it back and get the 8300 and call it a day.

However, I hear now that LG is trying to deplete the stock of 8300s before releasing the 8350 (there was a recent price drop on the 8300, for example).

Given that, could I end up with a scenario where, even if I run out and get the 8350 in the first week of release, I might NOT be able to get my hands on an 8300 a couple of weeks later (i.e. after determining that the 8350 isn't 'all that')?

Any opinions based on past experience welcome. Btw, how is the 8300 supply currently?

Vcast Music Question

I have tried every possible avenue to get this question answered but haven't had any luck, so I'm trying here. I have an lg 8300 with 1gb micro sd card. It plays music fine, but it will not play one song. Vcast music doesn't even recognize it's there, even though in the phones memory it shows the song. I have removed the song, ripped another copy of it, and it still doesn't show the song. I even went so far as to get another copy of it from a friend, and the damn thing still won't play. Any ideas?? 👿

Chocolate Videos

Will the vx8500 play videos (.wmv or .avi) that are stored on its memory card? Is that a third party software sort of thing?

Apple shares took a 3% dip Tuesday amid speculation about a cut in production of the trendy iPod-inspired phone. The chatter that sent the stock down was that Apple was reducing its production of iPhones from "9 million units to 4.5 million units," according to a note from Miller Tabak & Co.
The note cites talk among traders at Goldman Sachs and also includes speculation that the cuts may be coming in iP...

AC/DC snubs iTunes with Verizon Wireless download deal

Verizon Wireless won an exclusive deal to distribute AC/DC’s entire catalog of 18 albums through its Vcast music service.

One of the last holdouts in the age of digital music, AC/DC opted to join with the nation’s second-largest mobile carrier rather than forge a pact with Apple Inc.’s iTunes. Verizon Wireless is offering full-album downloads of the Australian rock band’s 18 discs, and grants the carrier exclusive mobile rights to the content through March of next year.

The deal also includes exclusive performance footage, but includes several constraints: only the hit “You Shook Me All Night Long” will be offered as a single, the music will be available only online, and albums will cost more through Verizon Wireless than elsewhere.

my sounds are for ....

what? don't have VZ, but sell it, and recently, an inquiring mind asked me what those sounds were for. I assumed (incorrectly, unless I'm not finding the right app) that they were to be used for a ringtone when required.

thoughts, redirection..

VCast Music can't be played on PC?

I tried downloading a few songs to my phone about a month ago and saved them to my TF card. Now I see that some play fine, while others say "This track can only be played on a Verizon Wireless phone... To play the song, please purchase another copy from VCast Music"

Appears that some are DRM protected while others are not, although they were all the same price and the purchase process doesn't warn you that some phones are locked to the phone.

What happens if you download to the PC and then copy the file to the card? The "Music Manager" supposedly lets you "Transfer songs from PC to phone via USB cable".

How does the DRM scheme work? You have to buy the song once for each Verizon phone, but you can download the VCast Music to your P...

FCC Article

I thought that the following article is really interesting. The FCC is thinking about pushing through an "open access" plan.

Basically it sounds like we wouldn't be stuck with only Verizon phones. Consumers would just have phones and then pick a network! Hopefully I am reading correctly into the article.

It's just an idea now but I think it would be pretty cool if they followed through with the plan. Here is the article:

My Account

Why in the world does VZW have this overwhelming need to change the layout of My Account every six months. Just when you get used to to how it works.... BAM! Why... why... why can't they leave well enough alone?

Spot Wave Signal Booster??

Hi,
Just saw the banner ad on Phone Scoops home page. Has anyone got any experience with this system. It costs $399. Is it a repeater? My VZW signal is plain terrible and VZW said they have no plans to do anything about it through 2008 after I opened a trouble ticket.
If this Spot Wave Signal Booster works I'll buy it, if not may have to leave VZW.

Thanks.

Impatiently waiting...

I'm quite sure that I'm not the only one who feel that VZW is falling behind. This VZW forum has become an extension of AT&T. I know we have the best CS, but that doesn't seem like it's cutting it anymore. I think by the time this supposed iphone killer is out, AT&T will have a new version of the iphone, kaiser, or some other device we will want. Don't get me wrong, I'm loyal to the big red machine, but this stretch with no new phones in sight is testing my patience(as well as others). I wonder if the chip ban is responsible? Either way, I hope there is a feasible reason for any delay to the 6800. Did we really need a newer versions of the chocolate,8300,8600(8700)? In my opinion the new chocolate was a half assed answer to the chocolate. Wel...

age

okay, so say if you wanted to start a new 2 year contract w/ VZW. How old do you have to be? I'm 14, and kind of want to have my own line w/ my own phone, paying for it and everything. Is there some kind of age limit for you to have your own line? Or does an adult have to like look over it or something? 😳
