Windows Mobile users- Anybody use Minimo?

Pocket Internet Explorer is junk, so I've been using Picsel Browser, and it's a very, very nice browser. One complaint I had though is I wish it had tabbed browsing. That makes forum stuff a lot easier. So I came across Minimo today, downloaded it, and tried it out. For some reason, every browser other than Picsel has this weird SSR thing I can't seem to disable. But it works well. I think I'm going to use Picsel for my main browser, but Minimo for when I think I will need tabbed browsing. Overall Picsel is easier to use.

Anybody else using Minimo, what are your views?

Hey, Cool, I Got Banned over at HoFo for No Reason! =D

Check out this thread over at HoFo... it's demonstrates how easily a bad mod can get butt-hurt over nothing:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1208862 » »

Basically, there's a (good) policy over at HoFo that states that phone threads should be on the phone forums, not the General Verizon forum. And they're very religious about locking phone threads in the General forum.

All good so far. Then, someone posted a thread about ETF policy in the General forum... not a phone thread, if you bother to read it.

Despite this, 'Moderator HF9 Cylon dork' comes along, locks the thread (mistakenly IMO) and posts a notice to 'keep all phone discussions in the phone forums'. Hmm, okay, whatever.

But, to my surprise, I can still post ...

AT&T earnings show iPhone not that big of a hit

By Jefferson Graham, USA TODAY
It turns out Apple's (AAPL) much-ballyhooed iPhone wasn't as big a seller as projected.
AT&T (T), the exclusive service provider for Apple's first cellphone, said Tuesday that it activated 146,000 iPhones after the first two days of sales, which fell on the final days of the second quarter. That is way below analysts' estimates, which had ranged from 500,000 to 1 million.

"It was a disappointment," says Gene Munster, an analyst at Piper Jaffray.

Munster earlier this week predicted Apple would announce sales of 500,000 iPhones when it reports quarterly earnings today. "We became victims of our own hype," Munster says.

He now believes Apple will annou...

This is some Bull S***

Hey guys,

In case you're wondering, I'm an Ops Manager for a new indirect dealer. I heard about the 20-month upgrade from Phonescoop (heard nothing from my Account Manager) and I called in COOS to see if I could do a 2-line upgrade for a customer whose lines were not eligible under the 22-month but is under the 20-month.

The answer? Well COOS knew all about the 20-month upgrade but it's only available for direct stores. The customers really wanted the phones today so guess what happened?

My conscience won out. I sent them to the Direct Store rather than make them wait 10 days.

I mean it's cool that VZW throws out a bone for us by giving us the Motorola W385 before the Direct stores and pricing them in such a way on the websit...

LG VX8700 pricing and upgrade question

I want that phone. Anyone know if it will be going down in price? Well, maybe I should ask when does the current pricing matrix end? Because I'll just keep my figers crossed that it goes down in price.

Also, I'm on a one year contract that ends November 23rd so I would normally be eligible on September 23rd. However a store rep told me last month that she can upgrade me on July 23rd because VZW changed their policy to 4 months before end of contract, not two months. Is there any truth to this upgrade policy? If it's not, I got her card and she wrote down the eligibility so I'll be set. I'm just waiting for the price to go down.

Unlimited IN Messaging or 500 additional for AIM/MSN?

Just wondering my friend is thinking about getting the $10 Unlimited IN plus 500 messages, but she's (or I) not sure if the Unlimited IN applies to mobile AIM/MSN or not. Does it? Or does it use the 500?

STORE REPS!!! In here please...

These are the questions she asked me...

(This is online in a chat by the way)

What was my opinion of the XV 6700 compared to the LG Chocolate?
(DUMB QUESTION TO BEGIN WITH)

My honest answer,
"Well I cannot say I have an opinion on either not having used the phones." First I explain how the two on different sides of the spectrum And I proceeded to give her the general info on those phones.

Why can't she send and receive files via Bluetooth?

"Verizon Wireless disables file transfer on most phones."

Why.

"So you can purchase them."
(Again honest answer)

Can I just buy a phone on Ebay unlocked and have you guys activate it?

"I can only suggest purchasing direct from Verizon Wireless."

...so can I?

"I can onl...

music volume tooo loud

using the headphones from the music essentials kit (that plug into the data/charger port) the volume of music is painfully loud even at the lowest volume setting.

none of my other headphones use a 2.5mm plug, so I can't use them and see if the headphone jack is quieter, besides, I would like to be able to use the headset feature of the music essentials headphones.

is there some way to adjust the volume range so that I can use these headphones without going deaf?

When Mobile Phones Aren’t Truly Mobile

By RANDALL STROSS

WIRELESS carriers in the United States are spiritual descendants of dear Ma Bell: they view total control over customers as their inherited birthright.

The younger generation — Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile and the namesake child AT&T — would make their hallowed matriarch proud. They do everything they can to keep power firmly in their own hands. It is entirely at the carriers’ discretion to permit, or disable, the features that a factory loads into the newest phones. They also decide which software can be installed and how it may be used. Many wireless subscribers have ruefully become acquainted with gotcha claus...
