Reselling New Phone

Quick and possibly stupid question:

I'm eligible for my NE2 phone. I'd like to stick with my current phone, but I'd like to cash in on my discount.

So, I would want to get the RAZR for $0 (with discounts) and--instead of activating it--sell it on eBay so I can recoup my NE2 discount.

Will this all work out? I imagine they may have rules to prevent this; such only awarding the discount when I activate the phone, etc.

Thanks,
Dan

RAZR email via brew app & QNC?

I'm looking for a new phone, and considering Verizon / RAZR / Brew email app / QNC

Can I use QNC to connect a RAZR brew-based email application to the internet and check my own IMAP servers? (no data plan)

1. I'm still using my V60i, which I can still attach to my laptop via USB and dialup to QNC. All TCP ports are accessible, albiet very slow (14.4 Kbs).

2. BUT when V60 is attached to my Sony CLIE (running snapper mail, etc), internet stopped working. (I've tried very hard to fix but I think it's a CLIE software corruption; CLIE on laptop via SoftickPPP also broken)

3. Time to choose new phone & go with either Verizon or Cingular (I hear Cingular allows use of bluetooth to connect to laptop etc, whereas Verizon dumbs down many f...

When will Casio GzOne (or its American model) be released?

I have it confirmed by our company's Verizon representative that the company will be carrying the GzOne, but she doesn't know when. Articles about its U.S. release have been out for some time now.

Anyone have an inside scoop with an approximate release date? I am up for replacement and my current phone (an Audiovox 9900, which I have loved) is on its last leg. I would like to be able to wait a little bit longer for the GzOne, as all my previous cellphone deaths have occured as a result of water and this one is water-resistant.

Any info?

Future Rebates on phones will only be $50 instead on the $100!

Well my 2 years are up now,but I will wait till the new LG8600 comes out and get my $100 off...
Now if I signup for another 2 years at
$39.00 I will instead of getting $100,I will be ONLY getting $50 off on a new phone in 2008.
I think that you have to be Paying $79 a month to still get the $100 off on a New Phone.
But I think most like myself at the $39 plan will only get $50
I will still keep Verizon because all my friends have it and the Incalling is free for all of us.
And if I go to AT&T I will not have free incalling anymore. So it still makes sense to stay with Verizon even that they only will give me $50 of on a new phone in 2008.....JT

Call Quality Problems with two transplanted phones

Hi folks,

My wife and I just moved from Boston to Houston and ever since then we have had severe call quality problems on our phones. Mine is an Samsung i730 PDA. My wife's is an older Nokia 3589i. Both of us have applied *228.

Let's say Donna calls Mike. When Mike picks up the phone, he can barely understand Donna because the call is breaking up, however Mike sounds fine to Donna.

In reverse, if Mike calls Donna, Donna can't understand Mike. He's breaking up. However Donna sounds fine to Mike.

This seems to be limited to wireless-to-wireless calls over Verizon's network. For instance, my mother, also a Verizon user, called me the other day and she was breaking up, however she could hear me fine. If any of us switch to a landline...

New Phone Previews?

Although I randomly see previews of up and coming phones on most tech sites, is there a good place to keep an eye out for the next set of phones coming out?

I mainly ask this because I want to ditch my current phone (Samsung i730 Windows Mobile) and grab the next feature-rich non-pda phone. Both the RAZR series and LG Chocolate seem great choices now, but since I still have about 8 months left on my new-every-two - I'd like to get the next iteration of those or the next big-thing.

Unfortunately, I am not sure where to look for rumors on what features to expect on new phones - any links will be appreciated 🙂

Nextel18 thinks verizon is out of the data game

I respectfully disagree

Here is my post in the sprint forum what do you all think?

Yes powervison is better than vcast, but still the mass majority of the population could give a crap. I think the reason why is right now there is no killer app that is knocking everyone socks off, and when that time comes all the carries will offer it! So those who think verizon is out of the data game i just don't agree, explain yourself. thanks

New Every Two---let me get this straight....

as a customer w/ the same phone for two years you are eligible for $100.00 off a new device.

But you can't combine w/ internet discounts/or advanced device dicounts? So basically---I get the same price as the guy coming off the street?

How do they get away w/ this?

The death of Nokia on CDMA...

I had a little chat with my friend, the Nokia Rep, this morning on the phone. He tells me the three most recent Noks on the Verizon service will be the last ones effectively that will be made for Nokia BY Nokia. Any other Nokias that show up on the service will actually be built by someone else...Pantech, for example. I, for one, am very disappointed that Nokia can build a superior phone for GSM services, but because of legal manoeverings, the same cannot be accomplished for CDMA. For the user who is not as savvy as most of us who frequent phonescoop.com, this is not necessarily a plus. I throw this open to any and all of you. Feedback, please.

Happy Columbus Day!

Here we go again

I had 2 and yes 2 customers in the past 3 days who started new service with Amazon, both come in t.tp he store to yell at me the only Manager on Duty because they where charged a $250 "cancellation" charge from Amazon because one changed his mtn and ported over a number from an other carrier and the other one moved his number from Vision West(cali) to vision east (VA). here is the funny part he tried to port his number over when he started service with Amazon, it took 15 days for the number to come over and he wanted me to credit him $30.00 because of the Amazon mess up he had to keep his osp line on. I just love these people and after i told them i couldn't do anything they would have to call Amazon i just couldn't believe this BOTH OF THEM...

Blackberry in North Central Illinois

What good experiences do any of you have with particular carriers and the use of Blackberry devices in the North Central Illinois area. (DeKalb, Genoa, Belvidere). I currently have Cingular for my cell carrier and they are really frustrating the heck out of me with horrible service. Don't get me wrong it is not all their fault, it is partially mine since I live in a farm field. I just don't want to get a blackberry and not be able to use it in my home area.

What do YOU do when this happens?

This has happened to me several times before and just happened to me again, I wanted to get your thought those of you who are in the biz....

A Very nice elderly lady (70ish) comes in the about a week ago, who has never had a cell phone in her life.

Her daughter (in another state), jsut got a Chocolate and has convinced her mom that shee really need a cell phone too, for safety (which I completely understand).

Heres the kicker, the mother is set that she needs a Chocolate too because her daughter keeps telling her she does, becaseu it is such a great phone 🙄.

She is only going to be using it in emergency situations and once a blue moon when her daughter calls.

I try to explain to her that she can get a free phone (lg 33...
