Verizon Challenges Sprint for Homeland
Security Network

Written by Christopher Price
Tuesday, 17 October 2006

Over the past month, Verizon has detailed in private their plans to pitch the federal government on a Homeland Security national network. Read more to see what it is, and how it stacks up to the competition.

Verizon wishes to use the 700 MHz band to deliver a national, public sector network. Presumably, this network would be deployed using CDMA with enhanced encryption provided by Qualcomm. This network is almost to-spec of a secured public-sector CDMA network envisioned (and demonstrated) by Qualcomm for years. PCS Intel has had access to these handsets, however, we have not reported on them previously due...

Message to CEO...exactly why I dont have verizon!

About 8 months ago I was going to switch from Alltel to Verizon, but after seeing that every phone had the same UI and it was slow and crappy, I decided not to! Instead I got the Nokia 6255i and it has the best UI on earth! IT is soo easy even an old granny could use it! I just love it! I would switch to verizon except for the UI! I laugh at my friend who is on her 4th 5200 LG because the UI freezes and then crashes the phone! The worst problem I have had with my 6255i is that I accidently scratched it! OOOH! 😲 😳 so there ya go improve it or remove it!

Q. for Family Share Plan

My Dad has pre-pay without voicemail, Mom has pre-pay WITH voicemail. Odd, but might be due to a different signing period when activating their service. (If voicemail has always been given and we're being ripped off, let me know).

So Dad wants voicemail and we're thinking of getting a Family Share Plan.

Problem: He has a business so he needs to keep his same number, will he be able to do so? And other question, if he leaves sometime in the future to set up his own plan, will he STILL be able to keep that #?

Thanks Everyone in Advance!

Blunders in bluetooth. Verizon still doesn't get it.

I have read the new thread which pleads to the moderators about this.

Here is a HoFo post from Scotland about the issue which is worthy of consideration:

Well on the other side of the coin there is also the argument that one can make more money, and increase customer happiness, by not charging people for transfering ringtones, etc. For example, Vodafone, which owns 45% of Verizon, is arguably much more successful than Verizon in terms of its global presence in the mobile market, and yet it doesn't cripple the Bluetooth in the handsets it sells. By not restricting their customers in sharing content they arguably promote the purchase and use of that content.

Actually, no British network restricts the use of Bluetooth file

So I finally did it

ported all 5 of my lines to another company!
Verizon is a great company, however when they told me I had to sign a new 2 year agreement to get to a plan that I wouldn't get $500 a month in overages I decided I was going to sign a new agreement just with another carrier!
No more limited bluetooth
No more crappy UI
No more $700 phone bills
No more limited selection of phones! (if it's unlocked I can get it 😁 )
$118.50 UNLIMITED EVERYTHING 2 phones yea baby! The other 3 I put on a small national plan because they really don't use that many minutes!
Wish me luck guys!

Bored and Tired

1st off let me say im bored with this site, no one can bring anything new to the table.

2nd off im tired of people complaining about crippled bt and bad ui, you people that complain about it are and i hate to say it this way but a small 2% of vzw customers, if you take phones calls on a daily basis like i do you come to realize that of the 54.9 mill customer vzw has 50 mill still dont know how to pwr thier phone on, or know how to get to the menu

3rd off im tired of people complaining about having phone problems, if you take care of your phone you will not have problems, for example the lg 8100 and models before that, people complain that the silver piece comes out, well i had that phone and i never had that problem because when i remo...

Had G-Zone in my hand

Just wanted to let you all know I held a G-Zone, it's really big, and not all that great, I played with it for a while, it does not have alot of bells and whistles. I would say if your not a contractor, highly active outdoor person, then don't get it. It is made to be dropped and get wet. Not my cup of tea.
