GSM network

How is AT&T's GSM network compared to its old TDMA network? Which one pulls in the best reception.

mmode and gophone

Does the mmode with gophone allow for use of the entire internet? as in, can I visit any wap site? Or is it just AT&T Wireless's intranet and a couple popular services?

Also, could I connect my Palm PDA or laptop to my phone with gophone service, either via infrared or data cable i s'pose, and be able to use mmode to access the internet?

New dealer looking for advice

Hey my friends, I've been selling T-Mobile and Verizon for some time, and we're starting to sell ATTWS as of this month since they just acquired my territory. For now we're only selling TDMA until July, so I'm looking for a little feedback on those handsets. Is the Moto C353 a reliable phone, and how well has it been selling? Also, since the V60 is the only clamshell offered for TDMA, is it a decent phone? I like the CDMA verson alright. I'm a little puzzled by the Nokia 6360. We had it for Cellular One, but I'm not sure if the price point is justified. Is anybody buying it, and what is so special about it? I'm ordering phones today, so any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nokia 6551 and WCDMA

Guess the four key markets that ATTWS was deploying WCDMA will be ready to use soon, because AWS will soon release this bad boy... too bad it doesn't have GSM 850 because some areas are 850 sites.

New Customer? Existing? Phones to get....and not to get...

I am an employee of AT&T Wireless Customer Care. Based on customer response, as well as personal trials and experience, on the AT&T National GSM Network (including roaming enhancements with Cingular), I would DEFINITELY GO with one of the following phones:

😁 Nokia 3100, 3200, 3595, 3620, 3650, 6200, 6800, 6820

😁 Motorola T721, V600

Also, I would DEFINITELY NOT GO with one of these following phones:

☚ī¸ LG G4011, Motorola MPX200, NEC 515 or 525, Samsung X-426,

If I didn't list it, post a reply, and I will get back to you soon, but odds are if I didn't, I wouldn't highly recommend it.

WCDMA

This is a link about WCDMA.
From Qualcomm

http://www.cdmatech.com/resources/pdf/wcdma_asynch_w ... »

WCDMA = Wideband Code Division Multiple Access or Wideband CDMA.. So just because they are now using GSM towers to place CDMA networks over them don't mean they Are GSM. But GSM phones will be able to use them like they would use GSM tower without CDMA.
But in time GSM phone will no longer being made.
And CDMA will be every where.

Please help me get my contacts from Outlook to my phone...

I'm not sure that this is the right place to post this, but I haven't gotten anywhere with local AT&T stores or with the phone reps. I used to have TDMA service and a Sony-Ericsson T60LX phone. I bought a serial cable that allowed me to sync my phone with Microsoft Outlook. It worked quite well in moving my contact info over to my phone.

I just migrated to GSM service, and got an Sony-E T226. I would like to do the same thing. BUT it looks as though that feature is disabled in this phone. So, my questions are:

1) What service(s) can I subscribe to from AT&T that will accomplish this over the air (and how much will it cost?)? (of course, how well does it work?)

2) Since I'd rather pay for a cable once, and sync as much as I wan...

Nokia 6620

Hi I am waiting for attwireless to start carrying the nokia 6620. This morning the info part of the 6620 page here on phonescoop said it was tentative for attwireless. Now that part is removed. Does anybody have a good idea as to why? were they contacted by att perhaps and told that they weren't going to carry it, or was it just put there accidentaly?

Does anyone know what the status is on attwireless getting the nokia 6620? I really hope they get it and soon.

Also does anyone know why it was recertified on the 25th of may?

Well, Been Nice Knowin' Ya ATTWS

The GSM coverage is still good, but I continue to have problems with billing and a credit that's due to me from three months ago. Every time I call in, I have to wait 10 minutes on hold to be told that they can't access my account.

In 10 days, my contract expires and I'll move along. Kinda sad, it used to be so good.

On line dealers vs ATT on line, or ATT retail walk in...

Once my appetite got whetted for a V600 (3 actually), I decided to finally leave Sprint and try out Cingular or ATT.

There were some pretty good deals on the carrier web sites ($150/phone after rebates), but I am tired of waiting for them to come back, and I'm not paying $600 - $900 for three phones.

Now that I have been cruising around on the web, I have found many better deals, such as $0 with rebates, $100 (buy.com), etc. All seem to be affiliates of Inphonic. Other bonuses include 1 year commitments, and in some cases, free or deeply discounted accessories.

The only drawback I can see is the $36 activation fee (for 3 phones - $108 ), vs free on AT&T's web site. Still - even at the best carrier direct prices I've seen, that's...

Not eligable for number portability??? Is that psosible?

I recently placed an order to start new service with ATT, and transfer my numbers from Sprint.

I just got an email that says the dealer can't ship my phone because:

"...you are currently not eligible to transfer your existing phone number to AT&T Wireless...

You may become eligible to transfer your existing phone number at a later date. Click here to register for Wireless Local Number Portability - when it becomes available in your zip code, we will notify you by email with the offers in your area!"

What the heck is that all about. I thought number portability was a done deal back in November. I live in a major metro area (between Baltimore and Washington, and was already told once that my numbers could port (can't remember, bu...

GSM

Hello all... I could use alittle advice before signing a new contract with att...I live in NW Louisiana, close to the arkansas and texas borders and am considering signing up for at&t's gsm america national plan. My question to you is how "good" is gsm service. I realize that's a "subjective" question. But i don't know anyone else in my area using gsm and was wondering how the call coverage and audio quality were... also, should I go with a phone that reads only gsm or should I go with a phone that reads gsm/tdma. I appreciate any help you can lend.. thanks.
