Poor AT&T Signal strength in Chicago... Help

Ok, let me begin by saying that I'm a cellular novice, to say the least... so when I need answers, I go to the experts.

Here's my problem. I recently purchased a Motorola V600, service AT&T, location Chicago. Despite all the rants and raves about how great the reception is, 8-10 times indoors, I can't even get a signal. I've switch phones, hoping that it was a unit error, No luck.

YOUR HELP would be greatly appreciated. What do I do? Unlock the phone and take it to T-Mobile or Cingular? Flash/Flex or what ever the hell that is? Wait a while until the AT&T merger with Cingular? Or scrap the idea and go back to my v8160 with Verizon, continue living in the dark ages, but have a phone that works. Unfortunately, like the rest of you, I don...

50% Usage Rule

Does anyone out there know if AT&T Wireless still has the 50/50 rule? 50% of the usage has to be used on the AT&T network or they have the right to cancel your service. And if so does and ETF apply? 😳

How to trick AT&T?

Ok, i've spent hours tonight on the phone with several ATT reps. Some gave me the "I don't know what the Network unlock code means" story, others gave me the "We don't provide that, call moto" and other straight up told me "NO". I even came one step from canceling my account unless they gave me the code, and they won't do it. Is there ANYTHING you can say to them that will make them give you the code?

END OF BILL CYCLE CANCELLATION POLICY

I have mixed feelings about AT&T's policy in regards to mid-cycle cancellation and NOT allowing for a pro-rated final invoice. But if you could compare it to : going out to a restaurant to eat a meal and eating half the meal and demanding to only be charged half the price, because you were done half way through, the owner of the restaurant would think that you were nuts. He'd offer you a doggie bag so that you could take home your left over's -- but you would still pay full price. Then it all makes sense

Customer Care??? Huh I don't think so.

After posting the following on the ATT customer care forum, it was immediatly deleted. Luckily another person on the board posted another phone number for me to call. But this is just ridiculous.
-----------

I was a very happy ATT customer just a few months ago. I made my payments on time and never really had a problem with their service. Of course that has all gone down hill fast. I recently got a new job where a cell phone was supplied and contacted ATT to discuss closing my current contract. I understood there were going to be early cancellation penalties and specifically asked about a payment plan to help me pay for the $350 (two lines) in penalties that i would have to pay. (in addition to a month and a half of service, ...

Avoid V600 from AT&T if you use SMS

According to Moto and ATT all V600's from ATT have the same version.

I have a problem with SMS. I forward my emails to my phone via #@mobile.att.net 2/3 of the time if I hit the menu key while reading a message or try to delete it, my phone instantaneously reboots (as if I yanked out the battery and then replaced it). It then goes through the normal startup procedures.

AT&T NBO has replaced the phone twice (and I have all 3 in front of me).

All 3 have the same versions as per *#9999# and all 3 have the same problem.

If you have the problem call Motorola they were unaware of it and therefore have no fix. If you think you don't have the problem forward 6 large emails to your phone then read and delete them 1 by 1 and your phone...

Is there a trick to get the Cingular V400 to work properly on AT&T?

Someone please help here... I purchassed a V400 and love the phone. The signal rocks, the features are awesome, the ringers suck, but that's a different issue.

The problem I have is with recieving calls. It will recieve maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 calls to the phone and also, sometimes takes the better part if not a whole day to let you know you have voice mail too.

Is there something I am missing? Someone please help here, the clock is ticking to when I can take the phone back. Thank you guys!

Subtle Differences between roaming and Long distance

I was reading another forum who brought up roaming charges and most carriers who have no roaming yet in the fine print there states roam xx.xx per minute. How many of you have been in that situation where the customer is disputing roaming charges. For the record Long distnce means you can call TO anywhere in the US from your HCA. Roam means placing a call outside of that home calling area. I bring this up because with the buyout talks of cingular and the unveiling of the cingular nation some customers thinks Cingular plans and AWS plans are one.
