AT&T local and national GSM maps---so many colors!!!

What is up with the 8 different colors on the local and national GSM maps? Could they make this any more confusing for a customer? lol. I don't know why it makes me laugh. I feel like I need a class in "color names" just to explain it to customers. I'm like "see that burnt orange color area, well that's no roaming" and "see that dark magenta color, that's roaming". (sigh) maybe it's just me. I'm gonna take the map to a paint store and match up the colors. I'll be like, "see that bright daffodil yellow color"

The arrogance of ATT!

As of November of last year AT&T Wireless implemented a new policy to charge anyone who Ports out of AT&T at an any point during there billing cycle the entire amount of the month long cycle," (this could be one day into the cycle).

On behalf of all AT&T customers who Port out. This policy of billing a Customer for services never used should be investigated by the FCC and this practice by AT&T should be discontinued. I also hope that AT&T be held responsible for refunding all monies collected in this manner to past AT&T Wireless customers who have "Ported out" since November.

NOKIA 6200 from cingular has some settings blocked!!!

the AT&T version of this phone, has "System Selection" a option to manuly search for service, or to place it on automatic..

anyway the cingular version does not have it, and I just spoke to NOKIA and was told that CINGULAR BLOCKED OUT THOSE SETTINGS

so does anybody know of a way to change that, and to be able to pick other carriers,

so far where I am, even in the OFFICIAL dead spots (cingular acknowledged it themselves) since its in and around a city, where cingular does have coverage, I am picking up 0-1 bar of service, and still does not search for another carrier (AT&T GSM has full service there)

from the way NOKIA put it, ("CINGULAR BLOCKED OUT THOSE SETTINGS OF SYSTEM SELECTION...") sounds like, this plan of free roaming i...

ATT Customer Service, America's biggest shame

The thing is that u guys from att are doing your jobs wrong, but it's not your fault.
Your trainers, and everybody above u taught u to avoid any responsability regarding technical support, and that's why every single ATT customer i've helped after your COWARD BLIND TRANSFERS, told me u were useless. Shame on ATT, not on u, but anyway...
By the way, i work for motorola, and i am the one who hungs up on your blind transfers, and tells your customers to call 1-877-746-9244 when u, ignoring our policy, tell the customers that we will give them a new phone.
In that case, shame on u, but anyway,...

So, everybody who is thinking about being an ATT customer, Would u trust in a company which buys defective phones and puts them into the market r...

BlueTooth phones?

I have been a long time customer with Verizon even before they became Verizon. So- I have always had CDMA technology. Still have my Motorola Star TAC (works very well, thank-you)
However, I have since puchased a new car that will synchronize with a bluetooth phone.
It appears that Verizon will not have a BlueTooth phone for some time, possibly late this year, if then.
I am considering switching to AT&T or Cingular and possibly buying the new Nokia 6820 or another bluetooth enabled phone. I don't travel as much as I used to and am wondering if anyone can tell about the AT&T service. Also would like to hear from anyone that has the bluetooth enabled phones which one is the best. I live in the northern Ohio area.
Thanks

Does AT&T Offer a Low Price "Emercengy" Plan?

Just wondering if ATTWS offers any low cost low minute emergency plans.

I signed up with ATTWS in December for a 1 year contract and just found out this week that I've been accepted into an exchange program that will have me living in Europe for the next 12 months.

A friend of mine who is also going in the program has SprintPCS and said he was allowed to drop his $30 contract down to $10 a month for about 20min for the remainder of his contract.

I was hoping ATTWS offers something similar so that I can just leave the phone here with my mother for emergency usage since it would be cheaper than paying the $175 cancellation fee.

Anyhow, sorry for the long post, anyone know if attws has this?

Thanks!

Cust's recording calls

What are your guys' views on customers recording the conversations? I had a customer today inform me that she was recording. I just thanked her for letting me know and told her we could not continue if she was recording the conversation. We then got into an argument about how can AWS record her but she cant us. Eventually we went to a supervisor. So what do you guys say? Do you reps let customers record it but make it clear that you do not accept it so it cannot be used against AWS or do you disconnect the calls or do you just not care if they record? How many customers do you think record without telling us?

CDMA to become the norm?

Is GSM on the way out? I read somewhere the CDMA or WCDMA is the future and world wide, and will become the global standard. (I forgot which tech. mag I read this in.)
If such is the case, why would anyone want gsm service?
Second question, China which has over a billion people, chose CDMA over GSM. Do they know something about the future that we don't know about?
Third question why is GSM having a hard time establishing it's network?
Anyone heard different on these subjects?
Thanks,
T&L

Motorola V600 delayed AGAIN!

GRRRRRRRR! So, the Motorola V600 has been delayed until late April/ early May. 😢 I was really looking forward to that phone. It really has everything. Hey, maybe it can be my college graduation present...excellent. Actually i think i've kinda given up on that friggin' phone. When it does come out it's supposed to be $300 with a 2 year contract. I don't know...

I'm too impatient. On the other hand, I wouldn't want a phone with tons of software problems.

Reception concerns

I live in Orange County, Ca. and just upgraded my ATT phone service to GSM and got a Samsung X426. I like to phone features, but I am concerned about the inconsistant reception. It seems it is either great or non-existant. Is is the phone, AT&T, or the GSM? I seemed to do better with my old free Nokia on the digital system. Any ideas? Thanks!

GoPhone Trauma

If I have to apologize to one more customer for the fact that their cash payment they made today is not going to go through for 3-5 business days, I'm going to tear my hair out by the roots. Why do in-store reps tell them it will be on "right away"? aaahhhh!

5 essential things to wireless service.

here are 5 things you can do to save you trouble in the future.

1. Know your rate plan and promos, features, coverage areas and contract period. You can call customer care or view it online

2.Read your bill this is how companies communicate what is happening on your account. If something goes wrong your bill will show it

3.Get equipment insurance, regardless of warranty, insurance can save your butt when you need it

4.Test coverage, Every wireless company offers a trial period, if you have bad service don't wait to see if it will get better

5. Take time to fiddle with your phone and see how it works, in other words get familiar with its functions and features

ARGH!!

Just had to vent my anger!!

Calling in customer care for a customer, I hear the ringing (you know before you get a rep.) and this fool places me on hold, thinking I won't know the difference.

I know the difference between In Queue hold music and regular hold music, and then he hangs up on me!

GOD DAMMIT!

Reception for TDMA & GSM

Is the the call quality better between 2 GSM phones than a GSM and a TDMA phones on ATTWS network. My wife has GSM and I'm on TDMA and I want to know if I should move to GSM for my next contract.

Thanks
