Nokia E62 smartphone or PDA?

Been trying to get one of these babies, but the local rep says I have to get the PDA connect plan rather than the smartphone max plan. What gives? Can anyone give some guidance here?

Bottom Line!

I'm seeing alot of confusion about which phones use which data packages. (The following are Cingular definitions, the manufacturer is irrelevant when it comes to eligible plans)

Anything 'data' devices that have a keyboard (qwerty or sure-type) require either a pda or blackberry plan.

Any 'smartphones' (no keyboard) use a smartphone connect package.

Yes the smartphone connect package may work on your pda device, but there are procedures in place that high use accounts are audited for the correct features. If you have a smartphone connect package on your pda, it WILL be removed and YOU WILL be charged at the pay per use rate. So why squable over 20.00 a month?? Just pay it and have the piece of mind that you aren't going to get ...

why do you have to sign a contract at all

Don't tell me about getting a phone at a discount, All the carriers will still make you sign even if you have your own phone. I work for the cable company and we give discounts if you sign a contract but you don't have to. We offer a free install and other things to sign, but like I said you don't have to. So why is it that you have to for cell phone service. I mean I did not have to when I got my home phone or the power or water. Please someone give me a reason that make sense. 🙄

Phones & Plans from Amazon.com

Anyone ever use Amazon.com to buy your phone or sign up to a Cingular plan? If so, how did it go? Any problems?
I'm still trying to figure out how to get the two phones we want at a decent price. My local Cingular retail store wants an absurd price for the SE W810i and they don't even carry the W300i for my son. Our Radioshack has the W300i but not the W810i. I can get them on-line from several places, but some of those places are questionable (see thread about Letstalk.com). Anyhow, amazon has them both at really good up-front prices, but I would like to hear from people who have used them.
Thanks

Blackjack is no Ace

I haven't been this excited about a phone release for some time. Once again, I cant understand why.
The Cingular Blackblack falls short of expectations.

3G data speeds are horrid. My 3125 and Nokia E62 on EDGE blow away the Blackjack on supposed 3G. After using the LG & SYNC data, I thought this could be the 'one'. Nope!

If it's email and the form factor you are after, this one could be for you. If you want speed and ease of use, go for the Nokia E62. Once you get passed the Symbian OS, it's a peach.

SIM card lameness

Why is it that cingular has released 4 different types of SIM cards in the last 2 years and some of the new ones don't work in phones like the nokia 6230. Why is it that a whole line of SIM cards can't receive calls or send text messages as of yesterday and I have people constantly coming in to replace the SIM card. Why can't cingular just stick with one brand of SIM cards. GAHHHHH!
