What kind of plan should I get? Noob alert!

I'm going to sign up with Cingular soon and plan on using an unlocked Nokia E61, at least initially. I don't want an extended contract.

What's the best way to obtain Cingular service, given that I want to use an unlocked phone, some voice and some data - occassional email. Do I simply go into the store and ask for a prepaid SIM card with data access? Is that Media Net? Or do I have to buy one of their phones first for a SIM card?

Thanks for any info...

Our 60 Millionth Customer

If I remeber back in December of 2004 they gave our 50 millionth customer free V220's. Which I thought was lame.

Anyone care to speculate what they will give number 60,000,000? That is a lot of zeros!!

Box of rocks??

Cingular: 3G Rollout on Track

Can someone confirm the last paragraph? Does that mean that network integration is complete?

http://www.wirelessweek.com/article/CA6377530.html »

Cingular Wireless is refuting a Bloomberg story that its high-speed network rollout plans are behind schedule. The carrier also announced it has completed the integration of the AT&T Wireless network into its operations.

Cingular announced that it is on track to reach most of the top 100 markets with its high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) network by the end of 2006. The carrier is reiterating its target after a story published by Bloomberg reported that Cingular is behind schedule.

"We are on schedule to offer service in most major markets this year and in the top 100 next year, ...

Warning for Potential and Existing Customers

This is a warning to ALL customers, new or existing, no matter your carrier.

If you Google search "free cell phone," you will get millions of search results that will take you to all kinds of websites. Some are actual carrier sites like Cingular or Verizon, but 99.9% of them are 3rd party online retailers or "etailers". This websites are authorized dealers that usually sell phones and service for all the major service providers and the phones prices are incredibly low.

For instance, you can get America's Favorite Cell Phone (unless you are a CS rep or a customer who has gone through 4 different ones to only exchange it for a GOOD phone like the SE W600i) the Motorola RAZR for FREE!!! 😁 No major cellular provider currently offers th...

Reasons Why I Hope Cingular Never Gets the KRZR!!

đŸ‘ŋ I hate Motorola phones ever since I had a V600 crash on me every time I opened the phone. And with the KRZR being out, I already have a sickness in my stomach for the RAZR's younger brother.

1. Its user interface is still craptaular don't be fooled one bit that it isn't. Having to go through all the options just to change the time is ridiculous.

2. I'm sick and tired of being asked about the RAZR which is still 99.99 after being out for 2yrs!! Its old and outdated yet of course it wont die because everyone wants one then complains when craps out on them.

3. It will probably be forever before its released anyway so why waste your time Cingy just release more bad ass Nokias or Sony Ericsson's which in my opinion destroy Motorol...

Corp office and CS are arguing over GAIT set-up on acct

I have an issue with being able to access the GAIT calling area on my GSM plan.

My plan shows the "GAIT Calling Area" as an option. I have not been able to access TDMA or AMPS on my 6340i phone, however, and recent storm damage in my area really brought this home. I could not get any GSM signal but an old pre-paid TDMA phone was getting 4/4 bars of strength.

I approached a corporate store about the problem. He stated my plan is simply GSM; it needs to be "something else"...which he never specified...and that explains why I cannot access TDMA or AMPS. When I pointed out that I have the GAIT calling area on my plan and asked why the companywould include that if I couldn't use it, he shrugged his shoulders and was finished with me, ...

Switching Plans - Rollover Minutes Question

If I switch to a plan with more minutes, do I keep the accumulated rollover minutes or will it be reset to zero?

For example FT 550 to FT 700.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Why the high price for the V3i?

What's the deal with the high price of the V3i from Cingular? The phone is a year old and you can pick it up unlocked for under $230 but Cingular wants $250 for a locked phone with a 2 year contract? I thought the cell companies subsidized these phones and that's why they're locked.

Cingular 3125 (AKA: Star Trek)

🙄

Got this one, second day it was out. Did a review and had to do a little "comment" on Cingular.

Short version: like this one. Even got the Star Trek Communicator sound to chime when I get a text message. Drives my co-workers nuts!!! đŸ¤Ŗ

Who ever thought up cingulars business plan scheme

needs to die.
I spent the last 3 hours trying to help a friend who was under an NBI account add 3 lines of service. Why will cingular not let us agents help these customers in an effective manner? The amount of time and human resources wasted being on hold, being transferred from department to department is so wasteful and inefficient. They need to let us help these customers on POS2. I can understand if they don't want us touching huge corporations accounts. But a local business owner who has a total of 4 phones? Give me a fu#king break~!!!
Sorry. wheres my whiskey.

change from 39.99 plan to old 29.99 plan or prepaid?

Hi everyone,

Great forum; I've gotten a lot of useful info here already.

I didn't find anything about the following question:

I have the 450 min plan for 39.99 (in contract until May). I don't call that much and I have 2000 min rollover.

When I get out of contract, would I be able to switch to the old 29.99 plan (200 min) - which I should have taken when I had the option - if I ask the retention department nicely?

Or will I be able to switch to prepaid?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Former AT&T Customer - Cigular is BAD

As a AT&T client, I got good service on my phones and good service when I called CS. Since Cingular acquired AT&T, my service SUCKS. I purchased a Treo650 which worked fine up to four months ago. I called Cingular and they suggested I buy a new Treo650 and switch to a Cingular plan. CS insist that that will solve my problem. The CS rep also states they are turning off the AT&T towers and thats why my service is getting worse. What???

My problem is, I paid for the phone $367, have a plan with 1650 Min/mo, 7:00PM nights and weekends, incoming text messages free, unlimited data. for $99/mo. They are asking me to switch to a plan that is $105/mo, 1300 mins., 9PM nights and no text messages. Oh wait. The new Treo 65o will cost me a l...

I love the w810

Greeting from Vzla! 😁
I have no words to explain how good this phone is. I just got it two days ago. I'm using it under Digitel. GSM is phenomenal here in Venezuela. Like I said before; the two main carriers here are CDMA and they are switching to GSM by X-mas. It is the funniest thing EVER!!! These guys had EVDO running already. đŸ¤Ŗ đŸ¤Ŗ I was roaming with my Cingular phone under the Digitel's network (the 3rd main carrier) but it was getting too expensive. I got the w810 unlocked, with a local number and this thing KICKS ASS! HSDPA is coming next year ☚ī¸

Big Samsung Push

We just had our company meeting, and word is that Samsung signed an agreement with Cingular, so that Cingular would heavily promote their products during the fourth quarter.

So get out of the way, Razr. Make way for the C417, among the likes of other Samsung phones. The Motorola lineup will no longer hog the spotlight. Yay!
