Cingular Dumping Non-Exclusives
HELP!...I need to get back in touch with a phone sales rep!!!
Why Cingular sucks
Help here?!?
All of you in GSM phone land...
Have you ever heard of the Motorola m900 fixed car phone?
I have heard our local Alltel/Western Wireless/CellularOne stores bragging about this phone being the answer to a bag phone (supposed to have 3 watts of power w/o needing a booster to get there). Apparently Motorola is now making an m800 which handles CDMA/Analog? ANY HELP ON THIS ONE WOULD GREAT?!? 😳
Trivia question!
How many calls can a GSM 850MHz tower hold at the same time?
How about a 1900MHz tower?

Early Termination Fees
Early Termination fees cannot be waived because you move from one area that has Cingular coverage to an area that "does not" have Cingular coverage. Customers, I don't mean to be harsh, and I say this with the upmost respects, but don't call Cingular Wireless thinking that you can cancel (while your still under contract) without any penalties. Terms of Service agreements are there for a reason, and to be honest, you need to read these carefully. It used to be where you had to SIGN an agreement, which stated this. Now it's gotten to the point where you are REQUIRED to read them and accept them from the website upon signing up online, or...

Setting the record straight!
1. To the guy that said he wanted a world wide standard adopted here in the us, well, he must be anti-capitalism. Why? Because we have competition, and it is keeping us in the running with low prices.
2.Yes the 3G update path for GSM is UTMS. But it uses the air-interface of cdma instead of tdma. The tech being used is called WCDMA and this is what Cingular is using for their new UMTS phones. So generically both gsm and cdma are combining to form a hybrid technology throughout the world.
3. Sprint is Sprint. HA And verizon had EV-DO way before you guys did. ATT wireless turned on 6 WCDMA sites b...

Debating a switch
As a result I'm shopping around for a new cell company.
I have a few questions about plans and services.
1) Is it possible to do a 1 year contract directly thru Cingular or do you have to go to a reseller offering 1 year contracts?
2) If signing a 2 year contract, are you required to wait the full 2 years before getting the special pricing on handset upgrades?
3) Is anyone aware of how the service is in any/all of the following cities:
Minneapolis.
Houston.
Boston.
San Diego.
San Francisco.
(Im in the midst of looking for new employment and have a couple of nibbles in these cities)

Lost phone - if I activate Lockline replacement, do I lose upgrade option with Cingular?
I started my contract in March, but a rep looked at the computer last month and said I was eligible for an upgrade on Jan 8.
I called Cingular and was put through to LockLine for an insurance replacement of a refurb Nokia 6620, which is what I originally had.
I'm hoping insurance replacement is a completely separate thing from upgrade eligibility, am I correct?
1. Did I do the right thing, or should I have gone to a Cingular store and tried to upgrade. I was in Puerto Rico at the time so my options were limited.
2. Is there any reason not to activate this phone I received tonight from LockLine?
If for some reason it wo...

Looking for advice...
Our two year contract is up with Cingular and we are now on a month to month basis. We have a family talk plan with 3 lines -- we pay $39.99 for the first line and 9.99 each for the two additional lines. We all have Samsung S307 phones and the service in our home is terrible -- two of the phones are especially bad. We have to stand near a door or even go outside in order to use the phone and not have dropped calls.
We would prefer to remain with our existing plan and not enter into a contract, since we are happy with the current rate and amount of shared minutes we have. We are eligible for phone upgrades, but if we don't sign a new contract, do we have to pay full price on the phones? Does anyone have any suggestions other th...
