ATT refuses to allow customers to upgrade on granfathered plans

Well i just had a wonderful chat with both a regular customer service agent and their supervisor.

The short story is, i am on a 5 year old grandfathered Family share plan. I hardly use the minutes on this plan and didnt want to change my plan when i was going to "upgrade" one of my lines and sign a new contract.

According to the agent and the supervisor the only way i could ever upgrade my phone and sign a new contract with AT&T would be to go up $20 a month to a higher plan with a ton of minutes i would never use.

The reasoning they told me was they are useing "third generation phones" hence why they say 3g on them and a third gen phone cannot be used on an older plan, the phone would not work. At the point they told me thi...

Small business 6-100 MIR Form

Can someone send me a copy? I've lost mine and when I go to the CSP to download a new one it's formatted in some stupid way that doesn't print properly. I'm Ohio-Western Pennsylvania but I don't think it matters. It doesn't actually say OWP on the form anywhere.

Send it along to [email protected]

Thanks

Mixing E71 and iPhone on one account

I don't know if I can do this, but I figure the people here know...

I have an unlocked E71 on AT&T with its appropriate data plan. I have no complaints -- it works well, and I really like the WiFI VOIP when I'm at the house.

I am now looking at the iPhone for development. To do this, I'd need to get that iPhone (the Touch is almost perfect, but it lacks certain features for testing).

Can I upgrade my plan to an iPhone plan with the appropriate data plan, and then just put the SIM back into the E71? I'd put it into the iPhone only when I needed to test with 3G. Or, is there a better way to do this? I know I could get one unlocked, but it's the same (effective) price.

MY opinion of the biggest problem for each of the 4 major!

Sprint: Customer service
Verizon: Price
At&t: 3g speed/strength
T-mobile: Lack of 3g and premium services.

Just my little rant, tell me what you think...

Any corp. rep.'s having problems with the new cft ratings?

The new CFT scores are crap and I'm tired of getting crap for the strange way they rate us in corp. stores. On the five areas i got 100% in four and a 0 in one but my overall all score was a -100%, doesn't make sense. Now that they are doing disciplinary actions on this I feel that the ratings need to change, any one else with me?

AT&T 3G Microcell?

I've read on both Phonescoop and Phonearena that AT&T will soon release a 3G Microcell (femtocell). AT&T even has a website in the process of being built for this item.

www.wireless.att.com/3gmicrocell

Does anyone know when this will release? Any additional info? Thanks.

Jitterbug type phone

My grandmother in law needs a loud phone with no fancy features, and big buttons.

Is there anything like this on AT&T that I could possibly get? Even if I went on ebay and got an unlocked phone, anything. I just need a jitterbug type phone to add to my AT&T plan.

Any help/suggestions? Cause that jitterbug ain't gonna be GSM anytime soon.

Too many open accounts?

So my friend ordered one of those refurb iPhones. But his order was canceled due to many open accounts.

What's that suppose to mean?

He's been with T-Mobile and only T-Mobile for the last 7 years.

New AT&T Phones

Any rumors on new At&T phones? Specifically any new Nokia phones (I would die for a 5800 XpressMusic or a 6260 slide but doubt they'll pick up either)??

CDMA vs GSM

As a former customer of Verizon and a current customer of AT&T, I have to say the quality of the networks are very similar. As for the CDMA being better than GSM, in some cases I can agree with that. But as for using voice and data at the same time, CDMA can't do that. Here's something I've been led to understand. GSM's broadband is UMTS and HSDPA, also known as W-CDMA. If this is true than wouldn't using AT&T's network in a 3G area be better than Verizon, considering the speeds and Voice/Data use? It is a form of CDMA, only its wideband. I may be a "cell geek" but I don't know everything so I've just been curious.
