iPhone Agent - Rumor Mill

So phonescoop seems to be the place where rumors get started and/or they come to die.

I have heard from a couple people that agents may be able to sell the iPhone come May. I am extremely surprised this has not yet been posted here.

So, anyone else hear this from a legitimate source?

update roaming?

I'm new to att from verizon. With verizon about once a month I would press *228 and update my roaming capabilities. Do I need to do that with att? How do I do that with att if I need too?

Thanks

No More: "No Cool Phones" Posts, Please!

All of these forums have a similar complaint: "where are all the new cool phones, and can I get one for free?"

Geeez! People, it's 2009, and most phones these days can do things a PC couldn't do twenty years ago. What are you really needing in a phone anyway?

I think the REAL problem is that most people want phones tailor made to suit their own likings. Well guess what? The phone features you want may not be what someone else wants, and the dilemma that phone manufacturers and wireless companies face is combining things together in a way that will appeal to the broadest possible audience.

Maybe someday phones can be custom ordered like cars and furniture. You would be able to select the color, style and features you want, and delete...

Lil Polymer Battery...

Figured some people might not be aware of the proper initial charge when you first purchase a phone with this type of battery (I myself isn't aware thus I created this thread.)

Also, how long does it normally take to fully charge a polymer battery from a nearly dead battery? I have always owned a lion battery so I would just charged it overnight and unplug it the next morning insuring me to have a full battery the whole day... Now with a polymer the battery you begin to lose charge even as it's charging if left in the cradle after it reaches full capacity. Thanks for any info guys and happy easter!

I Hate My iPhone

From page 19 of the April 5, 2009 NY Times Sunday Magazine:

I Hate My iPhone

The true story of a technological dissenter.

The iPhone was charging. Refined, introverted, mysteriously chilled, my new $200 tile of technology lay supine on a side table, gulping power from the wall.

Actually, the iPhone probably sips, like a lipsticky girl with a vodka drink. It usually does things in a cute way. Whatever. At 4 in the morning, I was in bed, fighting rage. I couldn’t stop thinking about that device’s tarty little face and those yapping “apps” you can download for it. The whole iPhone enterprise seemed to require so much attention, organization, explanation, praise, electricity. I know - I know: in the morni...

Cingular towers and technology

Does anyone have any advice for me on this? I just switched to Cingular GSM service in Northwest Indiana, and while coverage is generally pretty good, it is spotty/weak at my house, and my phone keeps switching between a Cingular tower and a T-Mobile tower (Cingular to Cingular Extend). Is there any software or "push" that can be sent to the phone or a way to possibly boost the signal? The signal gets up to five bars only two to three blocks from my house. Thanks for any suggestions.

Years Ago....

I was stupid and added a friend onto my at&t account. This resulted in a 1800.00 bill.

This was when I was 19, and Now im 23.

I was trying to see if I could get an Iphone under a new line, and at&t wants an 800.00 deposit, which I totally understand is because of the previous outstanding balance.

But its a little expensive:

800.00 Deposit
200.00 Iphone

Thats 1000.00. And I don't think the iphone/service is worth that much...

Is there a way to make the deposit any less expensive?

Thank You

COR rep question

What would be the ramifications, if you had the done the following?

ON 2.2.09 I activated a data card customer. On 2.18.09, said customer stopped by a COR store for troubleshooting help. The COR rep cancelled my data card and re activated the card I sold him with a new number. Big No No. False churn, activation fraud, or whatever you want to call it. No notes to justify why.

I emailed my at&t RAE about the situation to escalate it. Though I have little faith a contract commitment change will be done.

If You had done this, what would happen?

In this situation, everybody looses. The customer does not get their rebate, he will be charged $300 by me via my below cost agreement contract, I lost my $400 comission paid for laptop connec...

Phone Decision

Hello All,

I am having trouble deciding on a few things...

I am switching from Verizon wireless to either At&t or T-Mobile. I live in the twin cities area of Minnesota.

I am not sure which company I want to pursue, it kind of comes down to phone choice at this point.

I am looking at either the Blackberry 8220 flip on T-Mobile or the Nokia 6650 on At&t.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

where can i check if att allocated 3g in my area?

My phone is on 3g everywhere except in my house, rarely I'll look at my phone and it'd be on 3G inside the house. I think the 3G tower has a weaker signal causing my phone to be on edge. So, my question is. Did att finish doing the whole allocation thingy? Or is this an ongoing thing? I think my areas hasn't been allocated yet because of this. Can someone check if Noblesville
IN has been allocated?

The iPhone Excuse

By Sam Grobart

A couple of weeks ago, my colleague Matt Richtel - a handsome devil if ever there was one - spoke truth to power. He said the thing that no one was saying, yet needed to be said. Here it is in a nutshell:

For all its abilities and powers, the iPhone is a tremendous pocket computer, but a lousy phone.

And he’s absolutely right. I’ve owned an iPhone 3G since Christmas, and I could add my voice to the growing angry chorus. See, before I was with Apple and AT&T, I was a Verizon customer for years. And I don’t know what it’s like where you live, but here in 212/718, you can’t s...

Moto Q Global or Samsung Epix? Please help

I am up for a renewal at AT&T, and my phone is VERY important to me. I am upgrading from a Blackjack I. Please help me decide. I have narrowed it down to the Q Global (silver) and the Epix.

The most important things to me are:

1. Contacts and appointments and being able to sync with Outlook.
2. Video. I really must have 320x240 video
3. A good web browser - I do web mail for the few times I am away from my computer. I really don't care for push mail.
4. I like to be able to take word documents with me.
5. I want one-handed operation - I don't like using a stylus.
6. Small/thin size
7. Battery life is a plus but not critical.
8. WIFI is a plus, but 3G is fine.

The Moto Q is pretty wide, but it is thin. It has the vid...

At&t new prepaid offering

I heard that at&t will have an unlimited prepay option that will cost $3 a day and you only pay the $3 the days you actually use the mobile phone.

Anyone else has more details on this?

At&t changes terms of service, then reverses those changes claiming error.

the carrier updated its data plan terms of service last night to specifically single out and prohibit "downloading movies using P2P file sharing services, customer initiated redirection of television or other video or audio signals via any technology from a fixed location to a mobile device, web broadcasting, and... any applications that tether the device... to Personal Computers or other equipment." That's an impressively strict set of rules that seemingly bans a number of apps AT&T customers are already using without complaint -- everything from SlingPlayer to Qik to Skype to Jaikuspot
