GPRS connection hangs

I have a problem with my GPRS connection hanging, whether checking for mail or web browsing. Typically I'll get the "connecting" message until the application times out. If I restart the phone (power cycle), things work again, but once I try the next application using GPRS, the connection hangs again.
Has anybody had this issue? Any ideas?
Thanks,
YG 😕

MPX220 Research

I'm researching the MPX220 and the SE Z500.
For me the issues are 1) battery life, 2) speakerphone clarity, and 3) voice dialing.
Can owners of the MPX220 comment on each?

What are the talk/standby times?
What type of usage above (i.e. heavy calls, txt msg, surfing etc...)
How clear is the speakerphone?
How accurate is the voice dialing?
How many "slots" for voice dialing.

Does the MPX220 sync w/ PC based Outlook data (contacts, appt, etc...) straight out of the box or are additional accesories needed?

Thanks in advance.

Modem connection via laptop and phone?

Hi All,

I have the $40/month unlimited data plan for my MPx220. What settings do I need for GPRS on Cingular (username/password/dial #) for the dial-up networking settings on a Win XP system to get it to use the moto phone as a modem via BlueTooth? The BT connection is fine but the data settings in Windows are not.

MPx220 MMode and MMode e-mail

I've an ATT plan with MMode and with my previous Motorola 505 I could sent a short text or e-mail. My MPx220 does not have MMode. It supports short text messages but not e-mail except through an established mail account which does not appear to operate under my ATT plan. Is there a fix?

Unlocked? Or Not?

I keep reading that this phone is unlocked from the factory. Is this true? I see alot on Ebay that say they are locked to Cingular. Is Cingular locking them upon being sold? What's the deal?

MEdia packages and PDA Connect

Cingular just changed its policy regarding data packages for PDA type phones. The MPX 220 falls in this range due to its browsing and email capabilities. For several months Cingular has allowed the MEdia Basics and MEdia Works packages to be placed on PDA/phone lines. They are now re-introducing the PDA Connect package. It is $39.99 for unlimited data services EXcluding text and multimedia messaging. The previous MEdia Works package was $19.99 for unlimited data, 1500 text msgs, and 200 multimedia msgs. Anyone who already has the MEdia packages will not be forced to change.

Looks like owning this phone just got more expensive. Bummer.

Speaker with phone closed?

On every flip speaker capable motorola i've seen the speakerphone feature will work after you close the phone if a call has been established before you close but my MPx will end the call when the speaker is active on a call and I close it. Anyone know how to change this?

Also I have seen many motos that will let you scroll thru recent calls on the external display and place a call with the speakerphone feature without opening. Does this work on the MPx? If so, how?!

Thanx

over in the "MotoSummer 2004" discussion:

Wha' happened to the V600?

Last night, my V600 was lost or stolen. I went to get it replaced at Cingular, and they told me it was no longer carried. I just got the phone 2 months ago. They said Moto discontinued it because of problems. Since I had the replacement insurance (I didn't remember buying it, but okay ... I thought), I figured I would be able to somehow get an equivalent replacement. They told me they did not have any V600s in the system and I would have to settle for the non-Bluetooth V400. Anyone know what is going on with this phone? Thanks!

Replacement from Cingular - is it still unlocked?

I am waiting for the replacement from Cingular for my 0.342 version. My question to those who received the replacement phone is: Is it still unlocked?

The unit I bought at BestBuy was unlocked and I do not want to loose this feature.

Thx

Cingular XBM and Best Buy Phones

I called the 800 number today and told them about lthe ow ear piece volume. I have software .342. When they found that out they indicated that the .342 fixed the volume problem from the .325 and said that they presently did not have any newer SW versions. They told me that I had to take it back to BB which I did. BB has SW version 1.3 but I could not tell any difference in the volume. Also, it took forever to boot up Windows, about a minute longer than my present phone. Do I still want to upgrade to v 1.3???

The other hestitation I have is my contacts list is not on my SIM card. We have to manually, one at a time, send the contacts to the SIM card from the internal memory. What is up with that?
