two issues, but love it so far

First is I bought the phone at full retail, and they wouldnt give me the 70.00 rebate. They had me waiting for an hor to set up the phone b/c I was the first evdo customer and they didnt know how to change the settings in the computer...so I said for the wait can you hook me up with the rebate and they said that even if they gave it to me that it wouldnt be cashed b/c veriozon would see my receipt for full retail and not honor it. That is BS b/c when I bought the 9900 at retail they gave it to me and the rebate was honored.
Second I havent gotten through the whole manual yet and Im normally good at figurin things out, but how do you change the red background color behind the signal strength and battery meter. The options they give dont...

MP3..Please Help

I just ordered the 8000 on the net today and I have reading up on all the postings about the VX 8000 and nobody has really said anything about how the MP3 player works. Someone had mentioned something about there not being an available USB cable (to use as a modem for a computer). I understand the entire converting MP3 to .MIDI for ringtones, BUT what about the MP3 player. How do you get full MP3s to the phone? Thank you!

I got the phone, but how much memory

I love the phone but can't find anywhere to show me how much memory is in the phone. When I go into Get It Now, on the info option it says 46.3 mb available. I thought the phone had 128 mb. Thanks

VCAST

Hey, I went to the Verizon Shop today to get this phone, So I went to the sales person and asked if i could upgrade my phone, he said OK. He said that I would need to pay an addition price of 15 for vcast so that the phone could work. I don't know if that is true, i just wanted to know from people who bought this phone if VCAST is necessary to use this phone.

How to download pics to the 8000

Ok, I've figured out part of the process.

You have to go to www.vzwpix.com, join (free) by creating a password, upload your pics from your PC into your newly-created album in the online system, then create the pix message from the website and finally send it to your mobile number in email fashion.

Doable, but it's a big pain in the rear.

Why I chose the 8000 over the 8940

After waiting for the LG VX8000 for months, when I got to the Verizon store this morning and saw the 8000 and 8940 side-by-side I almost went with the 8940 because of it's smaller size and the mini-SD card. However, after a few minutes of handling each I noticed that when using the 8940's camera it's hard to actually view the main screen due to the angle that the flip-case.

In other words, find something out in front of you that you'd like to take a picture of, hold the 8940 vertically so as to have your shot framed correctly, then notice how the 8940's flip-case doesn't rest at a user-friendly angle to allow you to view your framed picture on the main screen.

For me, that was the deciding factor.

No Outlook synch capability yet with the 8000

I realized this drawback before purchasing the 8000 this morning, but it's still very annoying.

I just came back from VZW very CONFUSED

I just came back from verizon very confused. I have been looking forward to the vx8000 for months, but the second I saw it i was just shocked. It is HUGE, and that is an understatement. It is EXTREMELY large, and oversized. I think I am going to go with the sch-a890 but I still haven't completely decided. I was very suprised that LG would make such a huge phone. Let me know what you guys think.

Went with the 8940

I've been waiting for the 8000 for months. MONTHS. I was so excited today to go in and get the phone..

I previously had a Audiovox CDM 8600 and hated it. But.. this phone was too big for this pants pocket phone carrier. I WANT it, so bad.. soooo bad, as it's perfect for me, except for the size. I didn't believe all of the size reports either. Alas.. this sucks.. but, ah well.

I'm now a sad non VX8000 user. If they only made it a little smaller.. :|

Bought it This Morning

I bought this phone this morning, and I think it is GREAT!!!!! The screen is large and clear. The outer screen is very clear. The leather case fits it extremely well. Sound quality is wonderful. I have not been able to access V-Cast due to my office being outside the service area. Everything else about this phone is wonderful.

It is slightly larger than the v710 i had prior to it. But not much. It is taller, but not any wider.

Overall, Great Phone.

Phone not available in my market, except for DIRECT sales.

im in Tucson, AZ and only one store has them and its by accident. I was told the other stores dont have them because our market isnt quite launched yet, and you have to SPECIAL order them from the stores. this is CRAP........why the HELL would it be on the site, and everywhere else but here!

No data kits?

On the Verizon web site it does not list BroadbandAccess as a feature of the VX8000, the SCH-a890, or the CDM8940, and a data kit is not listed as one of the available accessories for any of these phones either.

Does anyone know if Verizon is taking the position that they do not want these used for PC data access over EV-DO?
