Dan Hesse said "Our company-wide retention efforts, which include Simply Everything(TM) plans, our Now Network(TM) campaign and the launch of the Instinct(TM) handset are proving to be effective retention tools, particularly for high-value customers, and this is beginning to have positive impacts on churn and ARPU. Our sequential improvement in post-paid churn is the best reported by any national wireless carrier since 2004, and it equals Sprint's best-ever churn performance post-merger."

Consolidated net operating revenues of $9.1 billion for the quarter were 3% lower than in the first qu

Southern Linc + Nextel?

Why doesnt Southern Linc step up to the plate and buyout NEXTEL? Perfect couple since they both use IDEN and Southern linc would be a bigger wireless co. They would probably do a better job handling Nextel than what Sprint is still trying to do with Nextel. This should have happened before Sprint went to merge with Nextel

Questions about data devices and plans

Hello!

I just canceled my VZW data card that I had for about 2.5 years. I used to use it every workday, but ever since I got my XV6800 with email pushing to it from my Exchange server, I do not have as much need for it, especially at $60/month.

I am considering moving to Sprint on the Compass 597 USB device, and I have two question areas. #1, I think I read somewhere that Sprint data devices can be forced to use only the EVDO network and not Sprint's lower-speed network (1xRTT?). On VZW in some areas, my card would connect to BroadbandAccess EVDO and then flip to a NationalAccess 1xRTT (much slower) connection at random. Can a Sprint device be forced to use only the faster EVDO (and Rev A) connections?

#2, are SERO plans available f...

Sprint eyes sale of Nextel's iDen network

By Sinead Carew
Fri Aug 8, 1:57 PM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Sprint Nextel Corp (S.N) is considering a sale of the Nextel wireless network it bought in 2005, but may have trouble finding a buyer for an asset whose value has plunged about 80 percent to an estimated $5 billion.

Sprint has struggled to integrate Nextel's iDen network, used by public safety and construction workers, with its own services and has lost millions of customers since paying about $35 billion for Nextel Communications three years ago.

Any buyer would find it tough to reverse the now-completed integration of the iDen business, including its billing, broadcast towers and customer service, analysts say.

"They spent the last few years try...

spooky...

first day, first call(2 years ago)

the one thing i hate about work is going back to it after a long weekend. first days are the hardest and getting through the whole day is a pill that's just a bitch to swallow. unfortunately, you only have two choices in this situation, either you pull yourself together and take that pill or stay home. the latter one's always the better choice but for some reason i always seem to take the first one.

so anyway, after enduring an hour's traffic and getting my pants wet from the rain i'm here at my workstation bracing myself for that first call. oh, by the way, did i tell you that i "volunteered" for a two hour pre-shift OT? i didn't? oh so now you know and volunteering is an act i don't practice often....

sprint

Sprint operates a nationwide network with CDMA technology in the PCS (1900 MHz) band, in addition to a nationwide iDEN network acquired during Sprint's merger with Nextel in August 2005. Sprint also offers high-speed EVDO Revison A data technology in most areas. Sprint is also planning a gradual transition of its iDEN network to CDMA technology, while also building a separate WiMAX data network offering faster speeds than EVDO Rev. A. 😁

Sprint reps or Nextel experts I need help.

Hi guys I'm completing a first responder course and soon will be joining a search and rescue school. I need a Nextel phone.
I'm looking at my plan options and want to clarify my understanding of them, and ask for any helpful input.

The first plan I see is a Sprint Basic plan which include 200 minutes for $29.99 plus an additional $10.00 for DC and another additional $10.00 for 6 pm nights...so for 50 bucks plus taxes I should have a bill for around 60.00. My questions is does the 10.00 includes unlimited mobile to mobile all DC users?? Correct?

I see another plan called 'Talk' where I get 450 minutes for $39.99 with Unlimited mobile to mobile now is that for DC only? or does it include unlimited DC and talk? And it look like I still h...

Kudos Sprint!

I know we hear a lot of bad things about Sprint but I just wanted to pass on something that they did good. I paid over $300.00 last month for my single line plan bill. Well they called me to make sure I was on the best plan for me. The rep that I called back to was very friendly and polite. The reason the bill was so high was because of an equipment charge, but I'm glad to hear that they look out for their customers. Just wanted to pass that on

Sprint's Dirty Little Secret?

Hello all. Hopefully this is a forum where one can do a little venting. I just wanted to relay something that happened to me today and get your view of it. Anyway, I took my phone (Motorola Q) in for service today (it would not turn on). They told me that they could not fix my phone, and that it was broken due to corrosion. I said fine, were they going to give me a new one. Their reply was no, you got it wet and that voided your warranty (I did not have the theft/liquid warranty). I told them I had never got it wet. They said that was the only way it could have got corrosion, so I was not covered. I asked all the ways I could have got it wet that they would not cover. Dropped in any liquid? No. Spilled any liquid on it? No. Had ...

$670 million to rent it's own towers?

I just saw this article from last month, I know that Verizon and AT&T go through TowerCo, but why? Could there be better perks now for roaming, or is this going to mess up everything?

Sprint announced the sale of nearly all its cellular towers to TowerCo for $670 million in cash. The deal includes approximately 3,300 CDMA and iDEN network towers. TowerCo will take over the running and maintenance of the towers, and Sprint will lease the use of the towers from TowerCo so it may continue to run its network. The sale frees up Sprint personnel from managing the towers, and gives Sprint a large amount of cash, both of which will help it focus on its core business of providing communications services.

New PDA/Smart Phones & SE Plans

I apologize if there is already a thread about this but can anyone tell me if the new smart phones that come out from this point forward will require the SE Plan or is that just isolated to the Instinct?

Samsung AirRave

ummm... we just got the cell-phone tower in a box into our inventory. I'm seeing that it has an ESN, so does it need to be activated? And if so, which plan does it require, if any?

Any help would be appreciated, and Yean's help would be greatly appreciated...
