Speedtalk

Nice to see them roll this out now. But, I hope there change there prices for the better. I don't like the idea that it has to be on the rate plan. I wish there was more like alltel/sprint where you can just buy it for $5 or $10 bucks.

Per Minute Rates

I live in NC in the western portion of the state, and I've noticed with USCC, the local plans do not include Winston-Salem, Greensboro, etc. I was just wondering what the per minute rate would be on a local plan, calling from the "Extended Local" area...

New phones?!?

It's been a while since any major phones have been added. Any idea on when any new handsets are coming ie: 6255i etc.?

Stopped by an agent and they said 6/10...stopped by a USC store and they said couple of weeks yet.

Any insight from the list?

If I want a more feature rich phone should I shop other carriers when renewal time comes in July?

Nokia 6255i

Nokia 6255i was supposed to come out in March -- then April -- then May -- then June -- then July -- now I hear rumors of August. Think I might just forget about it. In computer terms, it's "vaporware". ☹️

Roaming Indicator Flashing

I was in western Missouri on Highway 71 & I-35 last weekend and the Triangle on my LG VX6000 was flashing for quite a while, and the R on my mom's Kyocera 135 was also flashing. Anyone know what that means? I figured maybe it did that when it first went into roaming, but that didn't seem to be the case. Also a question on this forum as I am fairly new, do you have to click the back button after you read everypost so you can click on the next one? It's very time consuming and frusterating with dial-up internet.

Newbie ??'s on phones and travel

Okay...just moved to an area where my only choice is US Cellular. I really wanted Verizon, but they won't sell to me in my area (far Eastern North Carolina). And I'm 35 miles past where most carriers stop. So whatever...the USCC phones seem okay, and the plans they are touting in my town are quite reasonable (if there is such a thing in the business!).

My Questions:

1. I am looking at travel a few times a year to Europe. Any USCC phone in particular I should look at that I can make work over there? I am not beyond picking up a phone, going through the unlock game, and all that stuff. I am just no expert on all the frequencies and the phones on the market.

2. How satisfied are you with USCC's nationwide service? I spend ~1...

what phones do you recommend? What do you know about the kyocera KX9?

I was wondering about reception mostly. What phone over all gets the best and doesn't drop calls. I live in the Midwest. Also what is good for a camera phone? I'm looking at the LG VX-6100, Motorola v262/v265 and the Audiovox CDM-8910.
When is the Kyocer KX9 going to be released and what is the price going to be. Do you know anything about reviews?

Thanks,
Kase

Treo or Blackberry for USCC??

Longtime USCC customer here from Martinsburg, WV... just registered so this is my first post to the forum.

Does anyone have info on USCC releasing a new PDA phone in the coming months? After doing an initial search on this forum, I've seen some talk that a PDA device is in testing with a possible release later this year. Can anyone offer additional details? (i.e. Palm or Blackberry platform, possible release time frame, etc.)

I think the PDA/data platform is one area where USCC's lag behind the competition is considerable. Seems they're working to "catch-up" though as they have on other wireless offerings.

As a longtime Palm OS fan I'm being subjective, but with thousands of Palm apps currently available, I hope the higher-ups at US...

USCC got rid of a nice phone...

I just talked to my USCC rep, and asked him about the LG 5550 phones, I seen they are no longer on the website, and he didnt have any. He said they discontinued that phone, and he has been trying to get them, but every supplier he has is out of them.

That is a nice phone, I am glad I got one when I did. I dont know why, but when carriers get nice phones that work, they get rid of them. That phone is a nice basic easy to use tri-mode phone, I guess the cellular market cant have these phones out anymore, we have to have ones that do everything for us, someday, maybe they will drive our cars for us.

Anyway, to bad they got rid of that phone, to those of you out there that are looking at signing up with USCC, if you can find the LG 5550...

Midwest expansion

Anyone out there know when US Cellular is launching in St. Louis? I have been waiting on this for a LONG time and can't wait. A care rep mentioned it but did not know details. What about special launch rate plans?
