Will I need a new phone when they get rid of analog?

I am and have been using for YEARS a motorola Startac. A verizon rep at the store said when they get rid of all the analog towers I will need a new phone. My Startac is a tri mode, so it has digital and analog.

So is this true, or will I still be able to use my phone just with the digital signal? And does anyone know when this is suppose to take place?

I have another account with verizon (thru work) and have gone through many phones, none of which works as well (reception wise) as my ole startac. I would really hate to have to get rid of it.

Any info would be appreciated.

Stop MEGABYTE charges!

So, I am out of contract and I figured out my data usage over the past 2 years of my contract. With paying $5 a month for mobile web, I spent $120 (and never went over my contract minutes that were used). With the actual data used, I would have spent $610 over the 2 year contract if it was charged per megabyte. Translated a different way, with mobile web being included now, my data usage would be $25.87/month if I went to a Nationwide plan.

I know, I could go to a premium plan if I want to continue my current ways, but my 1400 minute family share at $89.99/month, with txt, ringback tones, and mobile web (and taxes), my bill comes to about $125/month. If I went to a 1400 minute Nationwide premium plan, it would cost me $159.99 + tax..... ...

Threaded Texting on Pearl

hey guys,

On my old Verizon Blackberry, and on my work Blackberry Curve, texting is threaded so to speak. So I can see my texts along with the ones from the person I'm talking to all in the same screen, like a conversation (I know we all know what this is, but wanted to clarify anyway).

I just got a Pearl and it doesn't seem to do this. Each text (sent and received) is displayed individually. Is there a setting to switch this? I really liked that feature and was hoping they didn't abandon it.

Thanks!

Just a link of some official stuff. There is plenty of info out there about the way this is going to be set up, But from what i read it sounds like if you don't want verizon ui you will be able to buy a phone straight from the manufacturer(ex:motorola) that has already been approved from verizon and will come with moto ui on it. If you get it from another carrier, you may have to mail it in and get it certified.

Treo 750 on Verizon???

I am not sure if this means that VZW is getting the 750 but here is what I found.

I went and purchased a new Holster and Car Charger for my Treo 755. On the packaging it says that it supports the Treo 700, 750 and 755. I am not sure why they would say it supports a phone that they don't carry. That is just my observation, take it for what it is worth.

6 calls to Verizon Customer service and STILL NO HELP!!!

😢 It seems that more people than 1 is having major problems with Verizon customer service. I have contacted them 6 times and nobody knows how to help. I even went to the corporate store and of course, no help.

Simple story--put blackberry on plan on Jan. 27 and found I was being charged $29.99 & $44.99 for unlimited data plan--(Yes, both plans, 1 blackberry, yes I know I have to have a data plan--but 2???). Took blackberry off plan on Feb. 6 because I couldn't get it straightened out after calling customer service. Now I receive bill and in addition to both charges---I was also charged minutes for data usage on blackberry also. 6 calls later--no help. 2 phones on contract--1 contract ran out on Dec 1, 2007--Other 1 runs out on March ...

"Unavailable" Calls

In the last two weeks I have received numerous calls from "unavailable". The calls will remain open with silence until I hang up. Verizon's official position is that there is nothing they can do to identify the caller. I really don't care who is doing this, but feel there must be a dept. that can contact the caller and ask them to stop. Anyone know how to cut through red tape on this one? I have recent data on exactly when the calls occurred.

Verizon announce Unlimited Plan too early??

Because reports are saying that Sprint is laying low watching all the competition and plans on rolling out with an unlimited plan for $79.99 within next couple weeks. Here comes the price wars. Cell service should become much cheaper 🙂

Voyager firmware question

I went to the VZW store today to get the latest firmware update for my voyager. It's the first update I've gotten for it since I purchased it last November. When I got it home to check it out, the first difference I noticed is that I now have a new 'set' icon with the 12 or so shortcut icons shown shown on the list. Clicking on this icon allows me to rearrange the positioning of all the icons on the list to my preference.

The other things that I noticed were A). the 'favorites' list has a completely new look . And B). the 'blue bar' that indicates data transfer, has moved from the top of the screen, to the bottom, and is now red.

Has anyone out there noticed, along with these, any other changes that affect the look or performance of a...

Which Companies get the best discounts?

I'm a school administrator, my district gets a small discount. So, I was wondering which companies get the biggest/best discounts? Is it based on the size of the organization or the type of organization?

Verizon IS moving to GSM

I have read a lot of the posts below with misinformation, so to be clear and answer the questions that have been asked- YES Verizon is moving to the GSM technology.

Verizon's has announced the 4g network they roll out will use LTE. LTE is GSM. Saying LTE is not GSM is like saying EVDO is not CDMA, simply not true.

Thanks...
