Best Phone on VZW....Possibly Ever

I just got done visiting my rep at a store in MN here, and all I can say is: AMAZING!!!

I have been glued to the two bulletins for VZW and the Voyager itself for the past 6-8 weeks, so I am fully aware of the concerns and topics of discussion about the phone, and as such, I am here to give you my review of this masterpiece as I was playing with that and the Venus for about an hour today.

Pros: Amazing clarity on both the outer/touchscreen and inside, the screens are much bigger than the enV (which is what I currently have), very smooth look and feel, TV service is great, full HTML is great, camera is great, touchscreen is smooth/responsive/second
to none, and the keyboard is bigger and much improved from the enV model.

Cons: Stand...

Just yesterday i saw I could upgrade to the voyager for 199.99 with NE2. Well I was going to pre-order today, but the voyager was gone. The only pre-order was the Venus. Anyone know what's up? 😕 😕

Retentions: One year upgrade?

Ok just wana start out and say hello to all. New to the forum but not to phonescoop.

Ok now down to the question. I called care, and asked to speak with the retentions department to try and get an upgrade early. I have been with verizon for a year on a shared plan with my GF; I got her an Orange LG enV for 20% off after being on for only 10 months doing the same thing. Know my phone took a dump and I want the Voyager, the rep from retentions told me i have to wait and see what the one year upgrade price will be on the nov 21st. What is a one year price i thought it was like every year and a half? Any help would be great.

Ohh and P>S i work for sprint go figure.

Verizon coverage changes with buyout??

I've noticed a lot of "buzz" on the buyout of Ramcell by Verizon.

That added to the FCC mandate to "turn off" the analog coverage has me wondering about coverage in the future. Case in point: SE Oregon and E. Oregon are mostly extended analog. I suppose that most of these areas are partner agreements (possibly the old Ramcell).

In any case, what's going to happen with this area and other rural areas in the West when these frequencies get turned off?

I think that ATT/Cingular is probably the only carrier that covers the area (Digitally) thru maybe US Cellular??

Do you think Verizon will convert existing sites to digital? It seems to me, that would be a huge investment and take some time. Perhaps they've already done it and ...

Question about Voyager/Venus

Does anybody know if they use the same heat-sensitive touchscreen technology as the Chocolate? I'm not sure that I trust that technology. I live in a super cold area, and there were people that were unable to use their chocolates because of the weather. Also, the touch pads on the Chocolates went bad quite a few times. Add in the white screens...I'm just wary of the Voyager and Venus. Anyone know anything about the touch technology they're going to use and how it works?

Pre-paid

Does Verizon offer anything better than impulse? I'm just looking for something that will give me unlimited in calling without having to pay a daily access fee and isn't their 50 or 70 dollar prepaid. Is there anything better?

I've made up my mind to switch to Sprint.......this is the final straw

I am changing to Sprint SERO plan and getting the Touch phone after being a V customer for 10 years. Verizon around here has always had great service and the CS has been good but I am not going to pay their rates to use the internet.
Sprint service here is good so I won't miss that aspect but I know CS will prob. suck. I will pay $100 more for the phone but at least I'll be able to use the internet at will and my $55 for 1250 min. with unlimited broadband will make up for that in a few months.

Merger.....Finally!!!

It's finally happening Verizon and AT&T mergering 🤣 That's why Verizon is switching to LTE for 3g, a GSM based network. Soon we can use the manufcters OS without any of the Verizon crap. So who cares if the Iphone is GSM and unlockable 😲 We have it now!!!!!! Bye, bye CDMA. Keep an eye on the news, the announcement is coming. Verizon is supposed to hold a press conference with top AT&T reps.

Played with the voyager today! Pretty sweet phone...

So I went into my local corp store in the southern wisconsin area and they had one they let me play around with! Its a really good looking phone and the fonts are bigger which is a big plus for me personally.

The touchscreen is great and very responsive. This phone should be a real winner. And while I was on the fence before I saw it in person. I think I might be hooked! Hopefully some of the poor battery life rumors are just that, rumors. But that could be the only drawback in this phone.

Overall, I was very impressed and I think I might give this phone a shot. Does any know if there is a way to get a discount off of the $469 full retail price? I thought there was a way to get 25% off of that price. And can you still get the ...
