Coverage Question

I live in a rural city/town in SE KY (zip code 40965). I currently have AT&T and Verizon, but I can only use Verizon analog coverage in KY. Sprint is the only other carrier with digital coverage here (Verizon does not allow roaming on the Sprint towers here-unusual but true). Verizon has purchased Ramcell in SE KY and will only say that digital coverage will be available by May 2008. 1 Verizon rep told me that Verizon actually has 1 tower here, but will not turn it on until a second tower is activated/constructed. I vastly prefer Verizon's customer service and network but want to be on 1 carrier soon. Can anyone help me to determine when Verizon will actually have digital phone coverage here?

You better write nice things about Verizon, or else...

An article today (Oct. 10) in the LA Times titled "Free speech could lead to online disconnect", we learn that deep in Verizon's contract, in very fine lines, lies a clause that states that those Verizon high speed internet users may be deprived of their service if they "damage the name or reputation of Verizon, its parent, affiliates and subsidiaries, or any third parties".

That's right. Even if you condemn Verizon for doing something wrong that deservedly damages its reputation, you are in deep doodoo.

A Verizon spokeman said "actions speak louder than words", and that although this language is written in the contract, Verizon does not enforce it.

(ATT is doing the same thing).

i went into my school's library (where there's no service) with a full battery. 2 hours later my phone started beeping that the battery was about to die. i thought all-digital phones don't drain like tri-mode phones used to when in analog. i don't know much about phone tech, but can someone help me out here?

VZW Employment

Hi everyone,
I was wondering how those of you that work at VZW like it. For those of you that work in the Call Center, how many years of customer service experience did you have before being hired at VZW? Also, would you say that the job is difficult or is it fairly standard/straight-forward?

Or if any of you work in the IT or Network department, how are the working conditions? Does VZW train you well for the position or do you bring in plenty of previously learned knowledge from college degrees, previous jobs, etc.?

Basically, from what I understand, VZW seems to be a good company to work for. However, I was just curious to see what current employees like/dislike about the company.

Also, does VZW sponsor a tuition-reimbursem...

Reduction in Data Plan Price?

I was looking at the Q today and the rep mentioned something about a reduction of the $44 unlimited data plan sometime in November. Is there any truth to this? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Verizon Wireless: If you don’t opt out, we get to share your CPNI call data

Over the weekend, a small storm erupted over new legal language that Verizon Wireless is passing quietly on to its subscribers. It appears as though the cellular provider is changing its terms of service to give the company the right to share sensitive calling data with third parties.

At issue is so-called Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) data. While CPNI data does not include explicit information identifying your name and address or your phone number, it does include data on the calls you make and receive, and the services that you may make use of. This includes information about the features of your phone and its capabilities. The data could easily be mined to see what kinds of businesses you call and how often. ...

Verizon Wireless is requiring customers to opt out of allowing the carrier to share their customer proprietary network information (CPNI), a new policy that could spark protest from the carrier’s customers.

CPNI comprises users’ calling records and includes the numbers of incoming and outgoing calls and time spent on each call, among other data. Verizon Wireless last week began sending letters notifying cu...

Bad Blackberry and other questions

I was wondering sorry for long rant. But I have had an 8703e since jun07 that phone I had a problem with getting 1xevdo VZW was great and replaced it so I am now on #2 this one now has an issue with the receiving calls. I have noticed if the green led stops flashing even though on the screen I show 1xevdo and 4 bars for signal if I call my phone it will not do anything the phone call will finally got to voicemail but then I get no notification of the voicemail either?. I have to do a battery pull to get it to flash again. So I called VZW and they offered to send me yet another 8703e and I asked them since this is my 3rd phone can't they offer me like the 8830 since my contract is up on the 16th this month. They saif sure only if i sign a new...

North America Choice Plan? Anyone got the details on the new one?

I was in a store a while ago, and they said they were working on setting up this plan again, but it would be with Canada only. Anyone have any details on the plan? Going to Canada next week and need to do a little switch for a few days. Also wondering what to do about my data plan.

Thanks! 🤤

ATT Follows Verizon, Decides to Prorate ETFs

http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSWE ... »

'bout time, ATT. VZW's had this for like a year. 😉

I doubt Sprint and T-Mobile will jump on the bandwagon though... their churn rates are simply too high. They prolly wouldn't wanna risk it. ☹️

Verizon Says It Turned Over Data Without Court Orders

They finally confessed.
Top story in the Washington Post website as i write this:

Verizon has been spying on Americans illegally.

Verizon says that "it was not their role to second-guess the legitimacy of emergency government requests."

But Quest refused to do it. Remember?

NEW PLANS = NICKEL AND DIME

Ok so I have never been one to complain about vzws marketing and money making strategies but this one takes the cake for me. The new plans are roing to make people pay for the data transmission on data products like vznav, gin apps and such. So even though there will be a free 30 day trial on vznav there will be a 4 dollar charge to download it! So on a ringer its (already expensive) 3 dollars to buy then 2 dollars for the transfer cost! It basically means gin apps and web usage will not be minute based and will pay vw money every time someone uses these products. UNLESS of course (vzw forcing vcast down customers throats) they subscribe to vcast service... This was done in attempt to PREVENT vzw from nickel and diming customers but to me it...
