Wi-Fi question

I am interested in the upcoming Blackberry because it may have WiFi. I have not noticed the need for it if I have a data plan, however, if I take my phone to Europe, would WiFi give me internet access in Europe? What about VoIP in Europe using a wifi phone?

NE2 + switching?

Hi,

My phone does not always work in my office, so I would like to try AT & T and then make a decision (Verizon has been great otherwise). I am up for renewal; if I switch to AT & T, do not like it, and come back to VZW, do I get the $100 discount? (I want to keep the same number.) If I try a new phone on VZW, with the NE2 discount, is the 30-day trial still in place?

Thanks!

vx9400 sound problem

Sorry for posting this here. I posted it in the 9400 forum but it doesn't seem to be too active and I am hoping for some input.

I picked up a 9400 3 days ago and noticed that the earpiece sounds muffled and it sounds somewhat muffled for the person I am talking to as well. I never noticed this problem with any other phone I have had and it is extremely noticeable when compared to my 8100 and my wifes 8300. Is this common with this phone or did I just get a bad one? I tried to find the sweet spot but there just doesn't seem to be one. Anyone else experience this issue?

3rd Quarter 2007 earnings estimates.

Might as well do this for every major carrier out there. What are your estimates for the 3rd quarter 2007 for Verizon Wireless?

Mine: net additions of 1.5 million subscribers to a total of 63.5 million. Churn at 1.2%. Voice ARPU of $52.

warranty issue

I have a phone that is not a year old yet, and the volume button on the side does not work to good. It will turn the volume down like it should, but turning it back up is becoming more and more a problem. I have to push on it hard and over and over to get it to turn the volume up. Once I get it to do it, then it works normal again till next time

Being that this is under a year old, will be year old in december, I know that verizon usually will do a FRU at the store. My question is, can a person deal directly with the manufacture of the phone?

I have a back up I can use, and if I send my orginal phone in, I would keep my games, ringtones, ect. So I would much rather just send in my phone and get my phone back.

I also remember so...

test drive

Is it neccesary to let the sales rep know up front that you are planning to do a test drive? Or are these just regular contracts that can be cancled before 30 days? Also, if you can get a free phone with the plan does it make the retuns simpler since you won't have worry about getting money back for the phone. If you get a select or premium plan will the messaging and internet be covered or only the calls? Is there a required fee up front to start?
Thanks,

Last ditch effort before we ditch Verizon...

A little 411 first. My wife and I both have Treo 700WX's on Verizon. Both are updated to the most recent updates as of today and both have been hard reset and reprogrammed (*228 both options). Also, this problem occurs in EVDO signal areas and 1XRTT areas though seems to be more in 1XRTT only because we live in an 1XRTT area. And it happens whether we have a full signal, half - whatever, doesn't matter. Verizon has "sent techs to the area" to test for this problem multiple times...same thing every time, they don't find a problem; they've "reset the master switch" on their end multiple times, same problem - basically we've stopped complaining to them about it as it's obvious they are not capable of resolving it.

So, as the subject says, t...

ESN SWAP

If I want to switch back to my previous handset for a day, I know I can go to the web site and do it automatically.

Is there a minimum time period that phone needs to be active before I switch back?

I am comparing sound quality and want to toggle it a few times.

verizon phone to tmobile phone

customer called in wanting to know if a tmobile phone would be able to access and transfer his contacts to a car database by bluetooth. he has verizon, and he's a smart one 😈 I haven't heard of those specifics, and he assumed I was technically astute before I had a chance to respond. I understand what he's attempting to do, but am pretty sure that without some sort of contract/prepaid plan he won't be able to get crap out of that unlocked tmobile phone. any thoughts?

Outage in Texas

I'm not sure if this has been addressed yet..

but there is an outage in Texas which is causing your cell phones to display No Service, no customer service rep nor Chuck Norris himself can change this...

hopefully it will be resolved within the hour

thanks

random opinion/experience: w385 vs. krzr

one of my friends is debating between the phones; the krzr mainly b/c he can get it in red, and he's a cards fan...I'm pushing him toward the w385, b/c it's not as buggy as the krzr, IMO. It is also newer, so that may change; I also set his son up with the w385. the rest of his fam has LG 8300's and Sam. a930's, and one of his kids has a u540, all that I sold to them. he wants to get away from LG, 'cuz he's had bad experience with his 8100, and thought that motorola would be a decent substitute. he doesn't care about features.

just a thought, wondering what y'all have to say.

VZW is so CONFUSING!!!

Other wireless providers are clear cut on what is included on their voice and data bundle packages. Verizon is not. So the $99.99 plan is 900 minutes and data for email. What about data to suf the web on. Is it not included? If not, then VZW is the BIGGEST rip off out there. I called customer service and I got about 4 transfers and about 3 different answers. What a joke. Can anyone answer this question for me? Thanks.

Mobile And Wireless - Largest Biological Experiment

Mobile And Wireless - Largest Biological Experiment

It is getting quite difficult to imagine a world without mobile communications. Wireless internet access is set to blanket the planet, just like cell phone networks already do. There has been an explosive development - practically all during the last three decades - that brought mobile to the farthest corners of the earth. But the technology is not without danger. The microwaves that carry bits and packets of data also carry a germ of destruction. Some people - as many as 120,000 Californians - and by implication 1 million Americans - are actually unable to work as they suffer from the incapacitating influence that this cacophony in the ether has...

I've had it...

You know what, it makes it harder and harder for me to sell VZW with confidence when I have no idea as to where the heads of the decision makers are in this company..

Since last DECEMBER we heard rumors of the htc 6800, here we are a year later. All I've heard is 'be patient'. Well I thought all of my patience came through when we received our dummy phone of the 6800 about a month ago. Anytime we get a dummy, the launch kit is about 2 weeks to follow....no launch kit.

So what do we see now? VZW announces its fall line up. Let's take a look shall we?
-A 1.5 yr old RIM Pearl
-A new chocolate, phase 3
-And of course, the voyager; excuse me a touch screen 9900

I am SERIOUSLY contemplating the TYTN II from ATT. I don't know how fa...
