Extended Warranty, or Total Equipment Coverage??

I have the new chocolate, and while it has been a great phone so far, I think its best to purchase some kind of warranty since I have a 2 year contract.

I don't know if I'd be better off getting an EW or TEC.

I'm concerned about the slider breaking and the chrome navigation wheel breaking. My videos have also been freezing, so I'm concerned about that too. Would these things be covered on the EW??

I guess I just don't understand the difference between the two.

thanks

Does this make sense??? possible 8550 solution??

I have the vx8550, and I posted a thread about how whenever I went to play videos, the phone froze and shut off.

This happened to me about 9 times in one night, then my phone powered down, came back on again, and said "Registering applications." The only time the phone freezes is when I'm sitting on the couch at my boyfriends house. Anywhere else, it doesn't happen.

Now here's the weird part----

My boyfriend has the Motorola Slvr. His phone tends to freeze, power down, and come back on again when he sits on the same couch. Anywhere else in his house, the phone is fine. It just seems to be that one spot in the house that we both have problems.

We just put two and two together and realized that the only time we have problems is whe...

someone remind me why i got the new chocolate......

I got the new chocolate, LG VX8550, on monday night.

I've posted threads on here about how great the phone is and how much I love it.

Now I'm having trouble with it already.

Today I recorded 3 short videos... each is about 25 seconds long.

When I go to view the videos, I press Play, and the first 5-6 seconds of the video play. Then the entire screen gets fuzzy and pixelated and the entire phone is frozen. I can't even turn the phone off when it does this. Eventually, like after 4 minutes of being frozen, the screen goes back to normal and the phone freaks out and goes through all the menus super fast. Then it's fine.

I tried viewing the videos 10 times. 7 times the phone froze, and the other 3 times it was totally fine. GRR! ...

The Q

I Like the Q, oneo f the main reasons that I love it is, it doesn't have the verizon menu system. Also, I like the keyboard becuase it is big enough for my hands. I was told by the store that If i get the phone that I have to get the data plan. I don't plan on using the phone for any date. Does anyone have this phone without the data plans??? I just want a test plan. Let me know...
Thanks.

U.S. rep slams iPhone, AT&T over restrictions

By Associated Press
Thursday, July 12, 2007 - Updated: 10:04 AM EST

WASHINGTON - The Apple iPhone has enjoyed favorable reviews since its recent debut, but it came in for some rare criticism on Capitol Hill yesterday.

The phones, which cost between $500 and $600 - are usable only on AT&T Inc.’s wireless network and will remain that way until 2012.

Even though the phones become expensive paperweights if customers quit AT&T’s wireless plan, the company will still charge a $175 early termination fee, said Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Malden), chairman of a House subcommittee on telecommunications and the Internet.

Markey described the phone as a “Hotel California service. You can check out any time you like, but yo...

8550 slide issues?

just wondering... I opened my first one in the store a few days back, and not 10 minutes after powering it on and admiring the slide, I found that the slide wasn't exactly closing nicely. a quick look showed me that one of the springs within the slide mechanism had released itself, and the next time the phone was closed, it snapped half of the support of the slide mechanism. the other side came off quite easily, and I am kinda leery of selling this phone if the slide is that flimsy. anyone else notice this?

Reception on the Samsung U540?

Hey all, I'm goin' to go get my upgrade, either today or tomorrow. Looks like it'll prolly be the Sam 540 (w/the extended battery).

Anyone have any reception tales to tell on this phone? I've had Samsungs in the past, they're haven't quite as good as (Nokia-built) Nokias or Motos in reception in my experience, but still pretty good.

Anyone know about the reception on the Sam 540 specifically? I do worry a lil' bit 'cuz its internal antennae, though I think a pull-up one only really helps with the 850 MHz band (which usually doesn't need it- goes through walls good, etc.)

testman?

How do you access testman?

You used to have to change the zip to 99999, but it won't take that now when I try. Is there a new way to access it?

Reception/Battery Life on phones NOW OR SOON

Which phone that Verizon offers or will be very soon offering is best for just being a phone (I dont care if it has a plethora of features) and has great reception/signal strength and great battery life? Those are my two biggest concerns...that I can make a call even in "fringe areas" and keep the calls and that the battery has a good life. And I know the EnV is a great battery life but the signal was not so great when I tried it on my 30 day trial...it broke up ALOT. Thanks.

Death By Motorola

July 5, 2007 12:05 PM PDT
Man reportedly dies from phone battery blast

A Chinese man has died after a cell phone battery exploded in his chest pocket, according to the Associated Press and other news sources.

Xiao Jinpeng, a welder, reportedly died while working at the Yingpan Iron Ore Dressing Plant in Gansu. A county official told the Xinhua News Agency that the welder had a Motorola phone in his pocket. Colleagues quoted by the agency said the phone was apparently exposed to high temperatures. Xiao suffered broken ribs, and rib fragments pierced his heart, according to reports.

A Beijing spokesman for Motorola, however, is quoted by the Associated Press as saying it's "highly unlikely" that one of the company's product

Samsung a990

I saw a post today that said this phone will be discontinued in the near future along with a slew of other phones. I tried to find the post/poster, but I couldn't. Does anybody have any information on when it might be discontinued and if there is a replacement on the horizon?
