Why you cant have a new phone (at sale cost) whenever you want.

When major carriers (ie Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint) sign you up for new service, you get the optimum price on the phones. They do that so that the cost of phones seem reasonable. In reality, that phone you just purchased for lets say $50.00, actually costs about $200+. The carriers eat the $150 or so so you will buy. (who would buy a RAZR for $200+ ?) They eat the cost in hopes that you will stay with the company long enough for them to get that money back. Typically, to get the money back that they discounted off the phone will roughly take about 1 year. In order for the company to make money, they need an agreement saying you will stay for 2 YEARS in order to cover their cost and at least make a profit.

This means a few things:...

Cingular's arch-nemesis Verizon is claiming to have an iPhone-killer in the wings..?

"Cingular's arch-nemesis Verizon is claiming to have an iPhone-killer in the wings. According to Denny Strigl, Verizon CEO, "We do have a very good response in the mill. You'll see that from us in the late summer." It's war, people, make no mistake about it.
"

Any of you VDUB's know anything about this new phone...?

Is Verizon Really Better Than Cingular???????

I currently have cingular. for 5 years i had sprint. sprint was ok but wanted something better. went to alltel and they just plain suck!!! so i went to cingular. my problem with them is that their insurance does not cover smartphones and thats the next phone that i want to purchase and their customer service sucks real bad. Those people always seem to have an attitude problem and i don't have time for that. a few of my family members have verizon and seem to always have signal everywhere. and some of my friends have verizon as well. in fact one of my friends just switched to verizon from cingular because she said verizon was more reliable than cingular. with cingular i get signal everywhere but i am just not feeling paying alot of money for ...

People With Dumb Questions ***READ***

Guys
I have worked at a verizon retail store for six years now in the buffalo area. I read phone scoop all the time but this is my first post. I have read many posts that are complaining about VZW. Honestly, here is what I think.
1. VZW IS A GREAT COMPANY TO WORK FOR!! AND, I AM PROUD TO WORK THERE!!
2. YES, WE USUALLY DO NOT HAVE THE BEST PHONES OR THE LATEST AND GREATEST BUT WE HONESTLY ARE THE MOST RELIABLE.
4. OUR IN STORE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE BEST WITHOUT A QUESTION TO MANY OTHER RETAIL STORES, NOT JUST WIRELESS.
5. OUR LEADERS LEAD US TO WHERE WE NEED TO GO AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE BEST.
Guys.. I am really not just saying this as a corporate robot. I am being completely honest.

Does anyone have any real questions in w...

700W vs Q

I am thinking of switching to the Q, I am tired of the weight and all the resets that I need to do with the 700w. What does everyone that has or had a Q think of them before I make the switch? Does anyone know if Verizon will have the new Q9 coming out? I will need to sync it with MS Vista and windows mobile 6 and outlook.

Signal bars

I was just curious.....do the signal bars mean a whole lot? My phone with Verizon will show anywhere between 0-4 bars for 1X and same for EV but the calls seems to always be clear.

I have heard that any technician will tell you that the signal bars do not indicate the clarity of the call.

Just wondering.
