Got back from a Vendor Expo

Last night, I had a chance to visit a Vendor Expo in MD and I had some time with each phone.

The LG 8300 seems like the better half as for features and looks. Although VZW will be making the color a "gunmetal" grey like the 9800, I preferr the black.

The 5300 looks very much like a Cingular phone (atleast that was my first impression). A bit sleeker, not too much smaller. I liked this one, so long as VZW doesnt screw with the phones color.

The 3400 was tight. Very small, reminded me of the one of TMobiles Moto phones (cant recall the model at this time). Nice outside LCD, just like the 4400.

The rep also spoke about the new version of the 9800. She didnt have a demo there, but she went on to explain it will be a lot thinner, hidd...

2 year anniversary of number portability

Bring Your Number With You As You Switch - Or Switch Back - To The Nation's Most
Reliable Wireless Service Provider

Two-Year Anniversary of Local Number Portability Means You Can Switch Service
Providers and Keep Your Mobile Number
05/23/2006

BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- Two years ago, wireless customers in the United States
began taking advantage of a great new consumer policy: they can take their
number with them when changing wireless service providers. Among national
service providers, only Verizon Wireless publicly supported the new wireless
local number portability (LNP) policy as the option became available nation-wide
on May 24, 2004. Since then, wireless customers from coast-to-coast have been
the beneficiary of the LNP poli...

Insurance

I used to have the insurance on my phone, until my old LG broke, and they wanted to replace it with a Samsung or something.. Since then I've never gotten the insurance. I figured you should get the same phone with it, but the decision is up to them. I was thinking of getting a new Treo, and insurance might be worth it for that price. Does anyone know what you would get if you had a Treo 700w that broke?

Samsung a900 and a930

This might be old, but does anyone know if Verizon will offer the a900. They just came with the a930, but its not even close to the Blade. The 930 is nice, but not as thin or anything.
I need the Blade 😢

Verizon's International CDMA/GSM Phones

Is anyone here familiar with Verizon's international combo CDMA/GSM phones? I'd like to consider purchasing either the Motorola A840 or Samsung SCH-A790 but cannot find much useful comment or recent discussion in these Phonescoop forums. Most posts are pretty stale.

I'm looking for personal owner experience or customer feedback that sales or service folks may have heard.

Headset replacement

Hi,

I think a wire snapped in my included stereo headset from the music essentials kit. There's no visible damage, but one earbud doesn't work.

1) Is there a warrantee on these?
2) Does each headset really cost 29.99 at a store, as quoted from the website? That's pretty steep.

Thanks.

Verizon ready for hurricane season

Nation's Most Reliable Wireless Network Ready For 2006 Hurricane Season

Tests Show Verizon Wireless Performed Best In Past Hurricane Seasons
05/22/2006

MIAMI, FL -- With predictions today of four to six major hurricanes for the 2006
North Atlantic hurricane season, Verizon Wireless announced that the nation's
most reliable wireless network stands ready.

That’s because Verizon Wireless is committed to reliability by design with
Verizon Wireless investing significantly in network cell sites, switches and
infrastructure throughout the years. Today, about 90 percent of the company’s
cell sites in hurricane-prone regions also have on-site back-up generators,
which are routinely tested to ensure they are ready in the event the loca...

VZW employees selling own phones on Ebay

I'm a VZW employee and have been told by management "don't do it" VZW tracks the esns and it's a fireable offense. Any fellow VZW people selling your old phones (previously activated on your employee acct) on ebay or anyone know of people getting confronted or fired over this?

Early Upgrade Bad Geography

Hi people,

First I'd just like to say THANK YOU! I've been reading this board for months now and it's been very beneficial.

I'm qualified to upgrade early (I have a VX6000) and want to get the 8300 when it comes out. My NE2 is up in September, but I was told for $20.00 I could go ahead and upgrade.

Now... my question.

I live over an hour from ANY official Verizon store and customer service told me on the phone I had to physically go to a store to get the early upgrade. 👿

Not to be stingy, but $3.00 gas for an hour up and back is a lot for my small budget.

Does anyone know another way I could do the early upgrade without booking it an hour away?

Thanks so much! 🙂
