Newbie Reception Quality Question

Greetings,
I've been lurking in these forums a bit for the last week and just decided to register in hopes you all could help me.

I am a 2.5-3 year Verizon Wireless customer and have the old StarTac 7868. I'll be needing to upgrade my wireless plan in August as I'm planning to go cell phone only for the next few years while I'm in law school. I've been happy with my StarTac but am wondering if now would be the ideal time to upgrade my phone since I already have to extend my contract with my plan change.

My primary concern is signal strength and ability to receive and make calls. Because of this I want to stay with a tri-mode phone. I understand the difference between tri-mode and all digital phones, but what I'd like to know if all tr...

The Power of Bluetooth (will Verizon ever learn?)

A friend of mine bought one of the first Sony Ericsson phones that had bluetooth. He would walk into his apartment and his Macintosh would automatically launch iTunes and start playing a song. If he didn't like the song he could press a button on the phone to change to the next song. It would also automatically sync with his calendar. It would also check to see if he changed any of the phone numbers in the address book on the phone and update them with the address book on the computer and vice-a-versa. which means he didn't have to remember to change a phone number in more than one address book.

All of this happened when he walked in the door of his apartment and got within 15 feet of the computer for the bluetooth handshake. he di...

Verizon will be #2 in three years?

I suppose. I know that was a small sampling of Verizon users reflected in that "poll" but it was eye opening for a couple of reasons.

1. Most new users of cell technology are and will be young new 'Power" users and they will tend toward the bells and whistles of the plethora of GSM product, as well many of their friends will already be on that technology because of the "entry fee" of no credit users. This is not a good long term prospect for Verizon. Once the kids get off their family plans they will switch if already on Verizon to another carrier.

2.Although mainly vocal and hardcore users or even cell phone "hobbiests" even read the forums their opinions are valid and their knowledge of prices vs technology will be respected in the g...

A good place to resolve GSM vs: CDMA, & Many other Cell Phone Questions

After reading all the Threads about who sucks, who is #1, or #2, or #3, GSM vs CDMA, GPS, Analog vs Digital, and on and on and on, the following web site I have found useful in educating myself as a Verizon Cell Phone Customer and Cell Phone enthusiast. Many many arguments can be resolved by this unbiased site. Try it everyone! Scroll thru it quickly, don't just go down a screen or two, many cell phone topics are addressed. After reading this material, I as a (4) year Verizon Customer understand better many of the things discussed here and on other forum pages of Phone Scoop. 🙂 Here is the site address, tell me what all of you think. I only want to help 😁 http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/cell-pho ne.htm/printable

To who said the LG 7000 sucks.

Go look at the reviews on this website. 13 people and a 4.38 rating and it just came out. Guess your saying they are all wrong...

Hey Turtle ...

Hey Turtle I think you are getting me confused with someone else. You never told me how to flash the Timeport 270c!!

If you do know I would appreciate the info.

Is is possible to reflash an Alltell version of a 270c and make it a Verizon version?
According to Motorola the answer is no but I don't beleive them I just don't think they want someone doing it.

Tell me how to get this done!!!

thanks

Looking for phone with good calendar feature...

Hi there - new to the forums here, have been with Verizon (AirTouch) for darn near a decade now!

I'm in the market for a new phone, and really want to move my calendar from my desk to my phone, but I don't necessarily need a full-fledged PDA I guess. Just a way to easily add things to a calendar, and view it. Any good phones to recommend that work with Verizon? About the only other feature I really want/need is speakerphone.

New every 2?

Hey... I'm going in to Verizon in a couple of days to renew my contract, and they'll probably set me straight on this, but I was wondering... how does the $100 toward a new phone work?

I want to get the new LGVX700 they have out this week and it's 399.99 retail, 299.99 with 1yr contract, or 249.99 with 2yr contract.

Does that mean that I get the phone for 149.99 if I renew with a 2 yr contract?

Just making sure there's no strange loopholes or rules.... thanks

AMPS?

Is VZW trying to get rid of their AMPS and go all digital? I'm asking this because I see that some of their most recent models (released or to be released) are all digital. except the V710, so Im a bit confused.

Phone software upgrade (Timeport 270c)

I bought a Timeport 270c on Ebay for my Verizon account. the phone was originally used on an Alltel network. after registering the ESN with Verizon the reception was spotty and it kept dropping calls. Verizon said the software needed to be updated from the Alltel version but they were unable to do it for me.
Motorola says it can't be done from one carrier to another.

I don't believe them!! anyone had any luck flashing the memory?

Take all this intra-carrier rivelary to the "Shop Talk "Forum Page.

That location is more appropriate, and the place intended for those discussions 🙄 I tire of who is or is not the best, over the last Two Weeks!
