Battery Recall

Verizon Wireless has recalled 50,000 cell phone batteries, some of which may be counterfeit, after reports suggesting that they may cause minor fires and injuries.

The TM-510 batteries, which carry the LG Mobile Phones brand, don't have the circuitry normally installed to prevent overcharging, according to a notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which issued the recall with Verizon. When they are charged, the batteries can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to users, according to the notice, issued Thursday.

The recalled batteries were sold in LG TM-510 handsets between April 2001 and December 2002 through Verizon's retail stores and Web site. They were also offered separately from August 2002 to November 2003. ...

Quick Question

Okay-I know you Verizon reps read these posts so here's my question-i travel thru the west virgina area quite a bit-actually Fairmont west virginia. Question is can I get service or is this a roaming area.? Next question-I'm looking at the Kyocera SE47 but have been told its digital only-I see that there's a SE44 but any word on when Verizon would be offering this tri-mode phone. Last question-I take it since the SE47 is digital only that if I'm in a roaming area thats analog I'm S-O-L is that correct?

porting local number after obtaining a new number?

I'm about to purchase a phone/service at wirefly.com. The customer service person told me that the new phone will come with a new number, while I could call verizon wireless to port my old number after a few days. Is this really doable with Verizon wireless?

BTW, will changing my phone number cause the dealer(wirefly) to think that I am cancelling my service? I'm a little worried about the impact on getting rebates. Thanks.

Customer activated on Feb 04. he took a dive on a pool of water with the phone 😲 , no insurance 😳 and wanted a similar phone for free, nada, zero, freebie. Customer escalated no free phone, customer called back again and escalated, got a sup and they settle for a new phone @ 2 yr pricing. 😈

Long Distance

alright peeps here is some info i get all the time. long distance is free on most plans ok? this does not mean that the min used while making a long distance call is free. JUST THE CHARGE for long distance. people get confused on this. it still uses your min during long distance calls, it just dosent charge you the toll if it is included with your plan. 🙂

New website, needs feedback, with password to cheaper prices

Basically we have just finally launched our website from Beta to Active.

We are looking for some feedback about what people think about the site. Is it user friendly? Easy to navigate? Easy on the eyes?

Long story short, for your time and efforts you are entitled to cheaper pricing. Where it says "enter group code" type in "website" and you should see a dramatic change in the pricing. Feel free to pass this password around to anyone, as it is exclusive to phonescoop members and will never be invalid.

Nokia Reps and Their Insidious Plans.

I had a Nokia rep come into my store the other day (Wednesday), and inform me that Verizon had struck a deal to carry the Nokia 6225...but with an external antenna. Can't have everything, I guess. Finally a replacement for my 3589.

V60 Recall?

A Motorola dealer in my area told me that the V60i/p/s phone had been recently recalled due to a charging port issue. Has someone else heard of this recall? If so, let me know.

2 Phones, 1 phone number?

Here's my deal. I work in a classified environment where if I bring a camera phone anywhere NEAR work, I will be anally f*cked by Federal Police Officers. I CAN however bring a normal phone past the gates as long as I leave it in my car.

From stories of some of my friends, phones don't hold out too well if you leave them in an extremely hot or cold car all day. So I decided that I will just buy a nice camera phone when my contract ends this month and just leave it at home.

IF I keep my old phone (non-camera), is there a way to keep it programmed for my same cell number so that I can keep it in the car for emergencies? Or am I reaching too far here?
