Thank You Cingular!

For taking the most consumer-friendly pre-pay cellular plan and begin twisting it into an unfriendly unaffordable program.

With AT&T, I could pay $10 every 90 days and have a spare phone for when my kids went bike riding or were at school and needed to call for rides home. The deal was so good that I gave each kid their own phone. As of the first of the year, I'd have to plunk $20 or so onto one or two phones - no big shakes and a very nice deal.

Now, Cingular charges $1 for each day you use the phone, plus air-time. Not terribly outrageous, but when coupled with their new horrible coverage in my area and lousy customer support, it's just way too attractive to use Verizon's or T-Mobile family sharing programs.

Well done, Cingular...

I'm surprisingly not in a horrible mood

Well so far I've been on the phone for two hours today, taken a couple of useless escalations and a couple of needless questions, but for some reason it just doesn't seem to matter. Maybe it's finally setting in and my brain has become decensitized to reps who make me do their jobs. I guess my body has finally run out of chemicals to pump through my brain to keep me happy (otherwise known as endorphins) and I'm slowly slipping into a conscious coma. I know that's kind of an oxymoron, but working with and for these customers does strange things to you.

In any event, I'm strangely content with the calls I've taken and my job at the moment. Anyone else think I should seek an immediate psychiatric evaluation?

India Reps 101

This is a quick tutorial for dealing with representatives located in India.

1. Let them ramble on for several minutes and then when they stop to breathe, ask your question.

2. When telling an india rep anything, repeat your statement three times. No matter what the rep says when they try to confirm their understanding of what you tell them (which is usually incorrect), repeat your statement verbatim. If you change verbiage, then you have to start all over.

assumptions

I swear people assume so many stupid things. I have gotten I don't know how many people lately that have been asking me the same question, "well then what do I pay insurance for?" or sometimes, it's, "that's why I got insurance!"
people seem to think that if they have insurance, it gets them free new phones and a silver platter with rose petals on which to place that phone.
get real.
enhanced warranty means that even if the warranty runs out, we can still get you a refurbisehd replacement of the same model, but it means that each and every exchange, no matter what, costs you 5 bucks, even if you are on a FAN account. this is 2 dolla a month.
equipment insurance means that if you have physical or liquid damage on your device, or if it is...

Just to Clear Up Any Misconceptions

Attention all customers and employees:

AT&T wireless (now called Cingular Blue) is still selling phones, adding new lines of service, and setting up brand new accounts. The only catch is that these customers have to be on a business plan (on a Foundaiton Account Number) or have a sponsership account number, this is where the account is in the consumer's name but they get the company discount. If the customer has a business account that is not on a Foundation Account Number, they can add new lines, upgrade phones, and migrate service to GSM (they just cannot start new service on a brand new account). These customers do not have to migrate to Cingular!!! I get calls too often from customers complaining that they went to the store, or called...

Putting the "Fon" in Phone

I hate to admit to it readily. But it's really funny when people continue to respond and change a post when it was posted so so so long ago. Like someone's breif moment of typed contempulation was so important it warrants so many others time. Please understand I am announcing hear and now. I'm no smarter than the next "monkey/person" and that if you feel in any way challegened by my posts mentally please refer yourself to a decent "educational" television program for an hour or so(try pbs or discovery) soak up whatever it is on this channel at the time. Get back to me with this and please include detailed information because I don't have cable and I would like to know what the heck is going on. Otherwise I appreciate all of your time a...

I'm still really a nice guy...

I promise I am, but if you're going to put yourself out there with a bullseye then I've got to put an arrow in it. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners, hunting endangered species, watching tear-jerking romantic movies, raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. These are a few of my favorite things. Oops sorry, got a little caught up there, but I'm still a nice guy most of the time.

And the freaks come out... on Sunday?

I just had a lady (and I use the term VERY loosely) called and demanded symptoms of things that can go wrong with a phone if it has physical damage. The front line rep was not satisfying her and escalated her to me. The woman had not provided a wireless number nor verified an acct.

She demanded a complete list of every single thing that can possibly go wrong with a phone that has been dropped and damaged. I told her that a whole multitude of problems could be related to physical damage, so I rattled of about a dozen or so things that can go wrong with a damaged phone and then the woman demanded that I keep reading "The List". I told her that I was not reading a list, but in fact, just pulled those out of my head. She yelled that I wa...

Crappy Monday...

Ok to make this simple I will put all 3 calls, all received in a row, in one go:

Call 1: Customer calls in to dispute receiving to invoices, one from AWS and one from Cingular. I asked her to read the dates on invoices, one for beginning of Mar. and other for end of Mar.

I advised her it was simple, her Feb. invoice could not be listed as being printed on Feb.29 as that date does not exist so it got Mar.1. Then 2nd invoice is for usage for the actual month of Mar. THUS she had Usage from Jan. to Mar. that she hadn't taken care of.

Call 2: BEST CALL OF ALL!!! This guy calls in because he assumed he had the MTM. His plan isn't even capable of using MTM as he has no MTM calling area on it.

Customer went over minutes because of his a...

Maybe I'm just having one of those weeks...

Has anyone noticed a gradual change in the customers and/or rep you've spoken with over the past few days? It seems as though every customer I've spoken with has been more on edge, even when I'm giving them exactly what I've asked for, and it seems like the reps I speak with are slowly getting worn down to the point they aren't even checking basic information that could be the difference between a five minute resolution or a two hour call. I know the India subject has been nearly beaten to death, but I deal with more India reps than any other department and it seems as though they're forgetting what little bit they knew to begin with and are having an even harder time taking clear, concise facts and turing them into one logical resolution. M...

OCS view minutes breachs contract...

Yeah so this guy calls in, can't view his minutes. Registered under OLD OCS, I advised he needs to re-register for new revamped OCS. Unfortunately view minutes will be available on next billing cycle.

This is like a stake through the customer cold heart, dead, heart. The guy was using view minutes like it was the bible.

Customer was all hell bent on getting released from his contract because he stated it was a breach of his contract. I advised him view minutes is an estimate and does not break his contract.

I should of told him if he can find it in the T&C's where if view minutes is unavailable, he can cancel without ETF. Instead I did the whole empathy thing (yuck) and it kinda calmed him.

Once again Cingular is the scape goat t...

E-mail

So i hear we have an e-mail department. I have seen numerous notes from the "e-mail department" who state they received an e-mail from customer and posted a note.

I would LOVE to get on that department. Sitting there all day, doing nothing but responses to e-mails from the customer.

Customer thanks...

WOW, I just had a 50 minute call with a customer who gave me great insight into how to stop being lazy and what to do towards my future career. He stated I have great customer skills and he wished me luck towards my future goal.

Short story short, thank you (censored) for making my day really bright and happy after all those annoying, whining, pissed off customers.

If he ever gets this info I just like to thank him so much for being so awesome about the call and his information has helped me out greatly. I wish I had said some more kind words to him but it's hard with spite and hatred swimming around inside me after dealing with so many angry people ALL my life.

Cingular is Great and SO is my JoB!

This posting is in place simply to deter any possible negative repercussion Cingular might find to use against me regarding posted information. I love Cingular they pay me in "chits" and I get to ride a donkey to work for free at the companies cost. Cingular coverage is good coverage compared to most coverage that is not as good as their coverage. Cingular has ROLLOVER MINUTES!!!! Yes!!! The question is....do you have ROLLOVER MINUTES!!!!?!!! Maybe but Cingular has tons of em. Everyone in the world needs to go ahead and get some of Cingular's action. The fons Cingular offers are high tech. and have 64k sim cards which helps "load balancing" in which I do not neccessarily know what that means. Something to do with "loads" and "balancin...
