*sigh*

had a customer complain that there was always things popping up on his bill like roaming and overages. what exactly does one say to that? seems like we're being blamed for the customer not knowing/understanding their rate plan

Just curious about it.

Ok I'm just guessing but will AT&T be selling their current plans 6 months after the merger or will they start selling Cingular plans directly after the merger? If anyone might know this, I hope they can help out.

Nights and weekends?

HULLO!!

A friend of mine has a Sprint cellular, does nights and weekends being unlimited include mobile to mobile??

My guess is it does because I've called people on Verizon Cell phones and Sprint after 9pm and never got roaming charges.

Merger decision just days away

The official word on the takeover by Cingular appears to be just days away, according to a statement on wirelessweek: http://www.wirelessweek.com/index.asp?layout= document&doc_id=136243&verticalID=34&vertical =Business+and+Finance&industry=

With the decision, what kind of immediate affects will AT&T Wireless customers first see? Hopefully we have access to more phones and rollover minutes shortly after the word is announced. Hopefully we see what is advertised on the site concerning the joining of the two companies: www.newcingular.com

Unlocked or Locked Phones

I read somewhere that if you purchase a phone from a wireless carrier and that phone doesn't have their logo printed on the phones exterior means it's unlocked? Is this true, probably not, but I am just wondering. Also is their ways to get phones unlocked without contacting the carrier?

Retention Plans?

I've heard that Customer Care will give certain concessions to customers who are thinking about quitting. I'm in my 30 day trial period, but I don't like the plan terms and thinking about jumping to T-Mobile, or another carrier that offers earlier nights/more minutes, etc.

Does anyone hear have any experience with getting a customer service to give you a better plan than a listed plan in order to get you to stay? What kind of realistic expectations should I have? I'm not a big bucket user of minutes, and ideally would want a $39.99 plan with 450 minutes or so, but with nights starting at like 7 or 8 (rather 9). A National plan would be a plus.

Customers waiting for a dial tone!!!!!

🤣 we really need to give IQ tests before we sell phones, I'm sorry but some people just should not be allowed to operate one.

I've see this mostly with older people and people from mobile Alabama, haha. j/k

Crazy things like:
* Expecting to hear a dial tone
* Wanting to know why their phone won't turn on, and having no clue what a power button is. ( I want to pull my hair out )

I love it when I get somebody's baby mama on the line who is ticked off because one of her baby daddy's cant call her collect from the penitentiary aka "extended vacation"
Or those dirty old pervs who call in "frustrated" with being unable to call a 900 number at 10:00 at night. ewww 😕

who feels me on this one?

Billing nightmares

This problem isn't affecting me, but a lady I work with. She lives in the 63701 zip code - SE Missouri.

She has the Go Phone plan from ATTWS and things have apparently been hunky-dory for a long time (several years). In the past few weeks, she seems to be constantly roaming off Cingular towers whenever she uses her phone and being charged 2.5 minutes per minute of air time. I know that's somewhat customary for pay as you go phone plans, but the kicker is that this isn't happening when she's 1000 miles from home. It's all over the area here. It even happens when she's at home and there is an ATTWS tower not too far from her house.

Have ATTWS/Cingular changed something about how the Go Phone plans are being handled in regards to ...

Phones

I know there's a huge concernes over ATTWS phones and Cingular network... will sim cards work in both... etc. I don't think there should be much worry.

Well, as a customer who was with a company that underwent mergers and buyouts, I never had a chance to be concerned. I didn't hear anything about DeutcheTelekom's buyout of Voicestream... or Voicestreams previous buyout of Powertel. (Yeah, long time customer.) Anyway, the initial handset I had back when I first started w/ Powertel still works with the new sim cards/service with T-Mobile, two takeovers and a different state later. I really don't think there should be any worries re: handsets and the new company. 🙂

GSM Gains Significant Network Capacity With New Enhancements
3G Americas' White Paper Details Single Antenna Interference Cancellation (SAIC)

Bellevue, WA, September 03, 2003 -

GSM continues to evolve as one of the most advanced mobile technologies in the world incorporating sophisticated technical enhancements such as Single Antenna Interference Cancellation (SAIC), an exciting new capability for improved mobile station performance of GSM networks. 3G Americas today published a white paper titled SAIC and Synchronized Networks for Increased GSM Capacity that shows SAIC simulation and field trial results providing capacity gains of 40-70% in synchronous networks. Additionally, the results showed that even asynchronous systems c...

Are Things REALLY This Bad at AT&T Wireless, or is it Blown Out of Proportion?

Read the following article put out earlier this year... it paints a fairly grim picture of ATT&W:

http://www.siliconvalley.com/mld/siliconvalle y/8323105.htm

From all the comparisons in the article, it seems like Verizon is kicking the unholy crap out of them. My question is, is that a fair representation, or is it an exaggerated one? And is ATTW making major strides towards fixing whatever problems it has and reducing its churn rate?

I make no bones about the fact that, right now, I like Verizon. But they too have annoying things about them, so in the future, it'd be nice to have options, and I'm wondering if ATTW will be one of them.

CUI Cingular IDs and passwords.

As of today AT&T Wireless employees have been granted permission access to some of Cingular's system.

I received my CUI loggin ID and password so that I could begin a self training curriculum before the merger is official and real training is available.

I also know a package is in hold to be sent to our homes which includes all information and paperwork that is routinely provided to new Cingular employees. Such package will be mail as soon as merger is official unless the Judicial department approves it like it was done with loggin Ids and passwords.
